I just watched a programme presented by Roger Moore, who still looks great in a tux at 75, where ITV1 viewers choose their top 10 Bond moments (why did I never hear about the voting for this?) Anyway the GF laser beam seam came top with the TWINE boat chase second. Amongst the other 10 were the MR parachute jump, the TSWLM ski jump, the GF gold paint scene and GE's St Petersburg car chase.

TWINE: Bond opening the safe, scene pacing and music
QoS: The elevator kick and Bond escaping the guards.

hope you enjoyed my top 10 as much as I enjoyed re-enacting some of them
This one is on my list of "goofiest scenes". Besides the fact that Connery looked sort of absurd in that helmet (although I realize the stuntman doubling for Connery was required to don a helmet for safety reasons), Bond probably could have run from the building to the Aston Martin in less time than it took to strap on the jetpack, secure his helmet and then blast off and fly for a few short yards!
It's a Scene that has always been stuck in my Mind since I first saw TB -{

That was not an easy scene to sell as a serious moment, and I give Moore credit for pulling it off as well as he did. -{
Amazing scene! -{ I also like the interrogation of Orlov on the train. Roger plays it straight in that scene and it is played brilliantly.

Yes, Octopussy has some high class moments. I will add the backgammon scene, that is beautifully played by Roger and Louis Jourdan. Double sixes. Fancy that!

Absolutely. It's easy to dismiss Moore's talents (heck, he does it himself and always has) but I'd say this scene is one of his best moments- not just as Bond, but in his career. It's customary to cite the part in FYEO where he kicks Locque's car off the cliff as his most serious Bond moment, perhaps because he argued against it initially, but the whole clown sequence is as BL says hard to bring off and Moore succeeds superbly.
