Even here on the Clyde coast, which is unheard of for heavy snow falls, it was chaos last night. Office shut early to give everyone time to get home (didn't work as my colleague's normal 50 minute journey to the north of Glasgow took 7.5 hours) and it took 40 minutes to dig my car out of the now solid ice this morning.
The local airport made a valiant attempt to stay open, until this Ryanair jet skidded off the runway. -10C forecast tonight. Just hoping my Christmas morning journey to Perthshire will still be doable...

7 and a half hours to get home from work. Goodness, the poor guy may as well have stayed on for another shift
there's been nothing round my way since the weekend! I was looking forward to a couple of days off just before xmas but no, I have to drag myself in and sit around doing nothing when I could be at home doing nothing. You watch on my birthday it'll bucket down and I wont be able to leave the house.
It's snowing here again in Southport near Liverpool. Hopefully won't get called out on any jobs today and can watch a film or play a bit of Uncharted 2 on the old PS3

Yep - snowed in here too - tried to get into work but was sent home as nobody can get in. It's still snowing too, so could get the rest of the week off
Snowed a couple of inches during the night here too, but back to clear skies and beautiful sunshine and an Arctic bite of -5C... It now hasn't risen above freezing for 3 weeks, and two of the small lochs out the back of town are frozen over and white with snow, and there's still snow on the beach. Coldest continuous spell here now since 1979.
Almost, but not quite, snowed in here; necessary journeys only. Here's a view from about a mile away from me- http://homepage.ntlworld.com/neilstonwebcam/ - and the site's self-description is pretty accurate!
Just caught in a blizzard. Couldn't see a damned thing. Not great when the pavements are covered with four feet of snow and you've no choice but to walk on the road.
All you guys must be mistaken, Al Gore says the planet is warming.
And those East Anglia guys have the proof...oh wait, they deleted the emails...

SNOW DAY!
have been having wonderful chat on Facebook with my frend in Australia who has never seen snow.
(telling him what grit is) "can you drive ANYWHERE then?"
"what does it feel like?"
(on the different types of snow) "which one is best?"
"does it like, melt?"
it was the most intersting thing ever - trying to convey to someone who has never experienced snow just what its like. i posted some pics and he was fascinated lol
it's flurrying here again...and I just found out that I have money in my account going to Tea with friends later...and then hopefully breakfast tomorrow to plan a photo shoot with my partner in crime and our friend who's basement we wanna use...

We're expecting 4 to 6 inches here in Illinois, starting tonight and all through tomorrow---it'll be a powder, blowing-and-drifting kind of snow, driven by a robust wind. I'm working from 12 noon until 10 PM tomorrow night...should be fun!

I'd have been truly disappointed if you hadn't struck that slow-moving pitch, NP B-) Though I confess I expected you to go elsewhere with the measurement angle )

Forecast revised upward, to 6 to 8 inches...they have no idea. We're assured that capitalism causes global warming, but they have no idea how much snow we'll get tomorrow. Makes perfect sense.

Okay. No fooling around here in the midwestern US...possible 20 inches in Central lllinois---blown by 30 mph winds.
I always said a book or movie contract would get me out of retail for good...but God can do it for a day...looks like no work tomorrow.
