Who thinks the "007" theme should have stayed in the Connery era??

I personally think that the 007 theme should have satyed in the Connery era. They shouldn't have put it in MR. I don't have anything against good 'ol Rog, it's just it suits Sean better!

    I respectfully disagree. I love the "007" theme and I like hearing it during the Amazon boat chase in MR. I wish John Barry would return to score a Brosnan Bond film and include the "007" theme in his score.

    I agree with Prince Kamal Khan. Personally I think the Bond theme should be in every movie in one variation or another. I love it and hearing it adds to the drama. I wish I could get it as a ringtone on my cell. :007)

    I hated the version of 007 in the MR boat chase. It was way too slow for an action scene like that. I dont want to be relaxed...I want to be thrilled! It just ruined that scene for me, IMO.

    The theme was effectively used in the parachute fight in Moonraker, the wetbike scene in The Spy Who Loved Me and the horse chase in Octopussy.

    I agree with Prince Kamal Khan. It's too good not to be used.

    I am following on from what has already been said. I think the "007" theme is too good not to be used. It is after all a theme relating to Bond, and is therefore not tied to one film or one era.

    The theme wasn't in TSWLm or OP!

    Just for clarification for those who don't know: The "007" theme is different from the James Bond theme(which has appeared in some form or another in every "official" Bond film). "007" is an action theme composed by John Barry and it appeared in the following sequences:

    FRWL: when Bond, Tatiana and Kerim steal the lector from the Russian consulate and escape thru the tunnel.

    TB: "007" is heard in the background during the final underwater battle.

    YOLT: When "Little Nellie" is being assembled and when Bond takes off in "Little Nellie" and flies her to Ama Island prior to the battle with the SPECTRE helicopters.

    DAF: During the final battle on Blofeld's oil rig.

    MR: The boat chase in the Amazon Jungle(not the one in Venice with the bondola).

    Is the "007" theme also known as the unofficial Bond theme or the second Bond theme? I do remember that it debuted in FRWL. I think I've heard it, but I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right one. I unfortunately don't own any of the movies listed above by Prince Kamal Khan.

    It's the secondary Bond theme, but most people (besides diehard Bond fans :))) don't remember it very well as it hasn't been used in the Brosnan or Dalton movies. I like the theme a lot, and I wish that it'd return...only if John Barry does the score. I'm deathly afraid that David Arnold will butcher it somehow.

    Personally, I've never liked the 007 theme (the secondary one as opposed to the James Bond theme)
    It always sounded like it came from a western. More of a cavalry charge, than a man with a gun in the shadows....cue electric guitar..
    ...one hundred caratsh rough!

    The 007 theme fit in MR, but, although I enjoy the tune, I don't think it should appear in any future Bond film. It works for the old ones but it would just be too dated now.

    An up-tempo 007 theme would be great for DC's tenure as Bond, they should bring it back

    Although I am in the minority about it, it could return in some form for Bond 22 -at least, I am saying that such a thing wouldn't offend me.

    It was quite nice to hear it used in the remix video Thomas Waldek did for his version of a FRWL trailer, so David Arnold could pull it off. Just the way he does for the Bond theme throughout CR (e.x. Blunt Instrument)

    I am not suggesting we get another 10 minutes of it, just that it gets some decent, or small, amount of air time in B22. Or snuck in, somehow.

    Jeff Tymoschuck (Nightfire's composer) added it in pretty effectively during the tune "Escape from Drake's Castle". It wasn't the outright theme, but it was pretty much the same.

    Thought I'd give this one a bump, since the "007" theme has always been one of my cause celebres. I disagree with a previous post regarding what sort of butchery David Arnold would subject this tune to. I think that the basic song is and has always been excellent, but I never cared for any of Barry's arrangements. The shrill strings always seemed over-emphasized, which detracted from Barry's usually fantastic brass and percussion- which this tune also has in abundance. I'd like to hear a fast-tempo version (no MR waltzes, thank you) with the strings toned down, maybe even replaced with just a real subtle, unoffensive electronic background.-{

    While the "oo7 Theme" was best utilized in the Connery era, it's still viable enough for todays Bond. It was heard briefly in CR'06 during the Aston Martin chase towards the end of the film.

    It would be nice to hear a reprise in QOS!

    Aw, cute. But you shouldn't have. :p There are literally hundreds of the same topic and theanswer to this is always the same. It won't happen.

    Amazing-
    I'm a 28-year Bond veteran, but a neophyte to this board- I joined 24 hours ago, I've posted only about a half-dozen times, and yet I already know who the condescending thorough-going *******-in-residence apparently is...-{

    I'm terribly sorry, I was in a bad mood. But whenever I see this exact same question posted (when there have been articles written about why it will never happen), it just kind of gets retreated. Here, I'll buy you a drink and offer a paw. -{

    I'd love the 007 Theme to return in future Bond films.

    It was one of the reasons I enjoyed TB, and the underwater battle. -{

    Also, addressing the question whether old Bond themes should stay in the past, I loved the opening musical riffs of "From Russia With Love" being brought back and used in TND's PTS.

    Yes.
    Royalties would have to be paid to John Barry (or latterly, his estate) for its use, in the same way that Monty Norman is paid for use of the "James Bond Theme". Since these days it's as likely as not that the score composer doesn't get to write the theme song and is obliged to use the JB Theme he wouldn't get to write much of his own (and thus earn the royalties) by using "007" as well.

    Bring it back.

    I used to think it was a cheesy Western-wannabe library track (which it's not) but... I love it now.

    Bring it back.
