The first one was pretty cool, I'm excited to see the second one. I wish I lived closer to a comic book store, I'd buy lots and give them out at school. Well... no... I'm not actually that nice to random people at school, but I still want to see it! )
hey, nightshooter - and all those who live in the NY area...
a general question - so I got my summer internship in the city - Im going to be commuting from jersey via train, workin the 9-5...
so obviously, im gettin off at grand central. my work is going to be on on 25 park, between 46th and 47th.
two things - i think thats on the eastside right?
and - id have to walk 12 blocks from the station to work, which is going to be a pain in the summer, wearing a full suit, etc (plus i sweat a lot anyways, haha)
is there a subway i could take that would atleast bring me closer to there? and if so, would it be faster than walking?

Yeah, C-Walk that is the eastside. If I'm not mistaken, your job is in the Murray Hill area. Grand Central is already at 42nd and Park if I recall, so your trek isn't as long as you might think. You're looking more at 3-4 blocks which you could do with your eyes closed I'm sure...
Sorry if I wasn't any help...been away from home a good while. Night might have a more accurate answer.

What exactly is a block? I British terms? Does anyone know? I've heard on TV loads of times and in movies (Toy Story I can remember ) but I don't actually know how far it represents.
Sorry, C... Didn't live long enough in the city to use the GCT and I owned a car. Give me a pardon...I'm from Brooklyn! )
12 blocks wasn't a big deal for me living there; but I can imagine being decked out to the nines everyday treking it back and forth in the heat.

Walking 12 blocks isn't that hard- I walked about 60 blocks on the weekend without breaking a sweat. You'll be fine.
20 blocks is more or less equivalent to a mile.
If you really don't want to walk, I'd suggest just taking a bus. I'm not really sure what bus it will be, possibly the M4? Anyway, just get on park and look for a bus stop on the uptown side of the street, and it'll let you off close to your destination. If you aren't sure when to get off, or ever which bus to take, ask the driver before getting on, he or she will tell you what you need to know.
Or take a taxicab. 12 blocks shouldn't cost that much, I don't think. Maybe 4 or 5 dollars. Keep in mind that a train or bus ride is $2. The benefit to a taxi is that it will take you to your exact location if you aren't sure where to go.

That's what I figured too, Night. Really it's a drop in the bucket.
When I had a primo parking space in front of my building, I'd walk to wherever in arm's reach (store, movies etc.)just to make sure I wouldn't lose it to someone. )
That's the beauty of the city...easy access.

Another beauty of the city: you can NEVER find any parking.
Ha! I know...I live in a semi smallish town (Boulder) and things have expanded so much that there is no parking ANYWHERE...but we have a great bus system, so my problem is solved!

haha its ok - i forgive you
yeah, I'm gonna walk the first few times - maybe on those insane summer days, you know the ones in the 90s, ill take a cab, but I think I'll be ok. I'm already taking 6 bucks for the train one way... 12 bucks round trip...over 5 days a week - 60 bucks in travel alone. Ill probably just buy the monthly pass - save some cash.
thanks for the advice guys.
its funny - i grew up in NJ, and im pretty close to the city. Im going to college in boston now, and im working in NYC in the summer
i cant escape the city life, haha

We've had some hot days this week. But I've been inside, doing the homework I put off all through the Easter hols lol. And now my tech teachers says he'll give anyone who doesn't bring their work tomorrow, after school detention. So - oh damn - what am I doing here?
OMG so I just got home from night four of six of the play. It's amazing. The actors are full of energy, and it's great. The only puzzling thing to me is, Colin seems to be refusing me hugs. I haven't had one from him in a week and a half. He'll wave at me, talk to me, punch my stomach (lightly) and steal my dinner (shakes fist), but no hugs. everyone else that indicates need for one gets one, but not me. *pouts* not even today when I came to school looking very dead and with an ace bandaged wrist (set con accident). He made "OMG I'm really sorry, is there anything I can do?" faces at me when I explained what happened, but no hugs. *sigh* sorry to lay this rant on you guys, but I feel better having typed it out. ^_^

At the moment in my house, we're having an argument. I refuse to take mine AND my brother's rubbish out the lounge, as he didn't have to take any of mine before. So me and my parents can't come to an agreement and my mom's refusing to take me to my mates party this afternoon. X-(
Relax darling, I'm on top of the situation -{

I hate to double post but on certain occaisions it's just too important and I need the regular random people to notice that someone has responded!
Yesterday's argument got sorted out in the end - I lost. )
But I have decided on something: I might be leaving ajb. Wait if it's might, then I haven't actually decided on it... on never mind. lol. )
But I'm afraid the news is true.
I've been thinking of joining the gallifreyone chat forum for a while now. I'm far more interested in Doctor Who now, and so less in Bond. I suppose it's cus Doctor Who was new and there was always things going on to do with it, and at around this time last year, not much was happening in the Bond world.
There's far more I find to explore in the world of Doctor Who - or it might just be that there's so much I don't already know.
I was an obsessive fan of Bond for 5 years, which has been a very long time to me.
I'll go and see Casino Royale when it comes out of course, my best mate and I promised each other after DAD came out, that we'd skip school to go see the next one.
So it might be goodbye in a while? ?:)
Relax darling, I'm on top of the situation -{

Felix, I don't know why you'd leave. You can, of course, be on more than one forum at one time. There is no law stating otherwise. You don't have to post every day on AJB, but I for one hope you do continue to post.
Its true what night says...I'm on three forums and I might join another... Its quite managable. Anyways, its good to talk Bond with people again after my short break...
aaawwwe...don't leave. I'm on about five forums right now. I manage quite well. I don't post every day on everyone, so I do have time for other things.
Ha-loo to everyone...I've been really busy with the play (which is now over *sob*) and boy what a run it was. Closing night was the saddest one I've ever experianced with BHS theatre, and I've seen a lot of them. All my senior friends were crying their eyes out, becasue at the moment the curtain fell, they finally realized that this was their last show with us, and how much the theatre ment to them despite all the bad times. all the non seniors finally were hit with this after being nearly squeezed to death by the seniors, and we got teary eyed as well. Darn good show, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. ^_^

I'm soooo glad I'm not in any AP classes. A bunch of my friends have them this week and they are stressed beyond belief. I just got my prom clothes. I bought a tail coat, dress pants and a black bow tie. should be fun. ^_^
It's my senior year...I'm not taking any AP tests, and finals are still 3 weeks away... So basically all I'm doing is wondering if I have a chance with her:
And if there is, is it even worth pursuing it with only weeks of school left... Great times...

and a block is (in terms of in a city) the row of houses or buildings between intersections....
for example --- all the streets in manhattan are numbered... so if i am on 34th street, i have to go up 4 blocks to get to 38th street
its hard to illustrate with words - a picture would be easier, lol sorry
