I'm doing alright thanks! How are your fleas? Not too troubling I hope!
I had a thought out of nowhere the other day about Daniel Craig's appearance at the London Olympic opening ceremony. Now let me first say that this was one of the most awesome things I have ever seen and massive hats off to the Queen for doing it. But I just thought, Bond is supposed to be a Commander in the Navy (the Royal Navy), don't you think he would have shown a little more decorum in the presence of Her Majesty?
As I say, however, that whole section was awesome; this is just an observation, not a complaint!

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and everyone dies.
I am still in awe of that piece during the Opening Ceremony. London did an unbelievable job with the whole Olympics, but that moment alone made it for me. Absolute classic.
As for the attire, he had to go with the Dinner Jacket! Queen or not!
Ah please forgive me, when I said I was talking about his "appearance" I meant in the sense that he made an "appearance" not in the sense of the way he looked. I felt that he just didn't show enough decorum; he didn't bow or salute or anything, he just said "good evening".
I just watched that clip back and it was bloody good though! The Queen had such a cheeky smirk on her face when she walked into the stadium. <sigh> you know I think the knowledge that we'll probably never do anything as good as that again will probably only serve to heighten this country's post empire blues. We used to be so great!

Cloud Atlas is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time, if not ever. I am seriously pissed that it has been so widely panned! Otherwise neat article!

Here's the amazing magician dynamo levitating from a London bus.
What's even more amazing is not his amazing magical powers, or the amazing amount if people who are amazed by this guy, but what's really amazing is the piece of amazing steel bar running along his arm, seen quite amazingly clear in the pic.
Don't know if I'm stirring a hornets nest but listening to the news. I simply can't believe that a guy can shoot dead a 14yr old kid and walk free from court. Without even a suspended sentence.

I know, this self defence ruling has gone too far because it means you can murder someone and then put the burden of proof onto the victim's defence by saying "it was self defence" and leaving it to them to somehow prove that the victim wasn't being aggressive. One must be legally allowed to defend one's self, but at what cost?
Meanwhile I've seen a few other news articles, one where a woman accidentally managed to shoot her friend in the foot by dropping her handbag containing a pistol, and another where an 8 year old boy accidentally murdered his 5 year old friend while they were playing with a rifle belonging to one of their parents. What astounds me is that in neither case were any charges pressed! I'm afraid I just constantly wonder how many innocent lives will have to be lost before Americans see sense and do something about their gun obsessed culture (no offence to my American friends of course).

As one of your American friends, let me just say that I think it is absolutely insane that guns are so readily accessible and revered in my country. Just imagine if the confrontation between Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman had ended in a fistfight instead. Surely that would have been a better outcome for all involved.

Anyone watching Rory Kinnear in Count Aurthur Strong on BBC1. I"ve listened to it on radio for years so think it's great to be on TV.
Yes, its bloody awful.
One critic claimed the 'o' in 'Count' was silent !
The character of Arthur is very good but it just doesn't work. I can only hope Rory is being paid a fortune for appearing in this.
Steven Delaney tours this character too...I have been thinking of catching his show at the Lowry before now....but after watching this tv show (can't honestly call it a comedy) I'm rather glad I didn't.
Might be one of those comedies that work best on radio and fail on TV. I'm a huge fan of "Bleak Expectations" on BBC radio 4 and was really excited when I heard there was to be TV show over One christmas, sadly it was bloody awful. too.
Still I have the complete radio series on Disc and regulary listen to them in the car.

I for one can't understand the American love for Guns. I can understand ( if needed ) something for protection or
Hunting. Although what I can't understand is ( If true, as I'm not an American ) is being able to buy a gun. Without
any checks or waiting time. As Homer said in the simpsons " I don't want to wait, I'm angry now!".
I also think there have been a couple of cases were people have been shot and NO charges have even been brought
against the people who shot them. Still I suppose every country has it's problems.

Haven't heard the radio series....is it a 'one man' type show or an ensemble piece ?
The tv show just doesn't work - its not funny enough...every character (apart from Arthur) is 'forced' and is the type of person that only exists in a tv sitcom...
The Radio show has a small cast, But more Aurthur. Perhaps us "Out in the Sticks" are
easier Pleased. ) . I've watched the first two shows and think they're not great but I
do think it will improve. Still lately the BBC hasn't had a good run with comedies.

I hope it does improve because I like the character of Arthur....its EVERYBODY else I have issues with...especially Rory Kinnear, whom is SO much better than the material he is given here...
The BBC is really not doing comedy very well at the moment, between Count Arthur Strong and Mrs Browns Boys I don't really know what to think. My girlfriend watched the first episode of something called Family Tree yesterday, it has Nina Conti in it who I think is really funny so I thought it'd be good. I laughed maybe 3 times in the whole episode.

Mrs Brown's Boys is VERY funny...Count Arthur Strong has potential - but not in its current format...

The scent smoke and sweat of a casino are nauseating at three in the morning. Then the soul-erosion produced by high gambling - a compost of greed and fear and nervous tension - becomes unbearable and the senses awake and revolt from it.
