    Then don't hunt whales. It should be easy enough, no-one is forcing you to hunt them :))

    A whale is a very large mammal. No more, no less. It's not a holy white cow or a unicorn. It should be protected from extinction and unneccesary pain just like any other animal.

    So am I! :))
    In this case I was making a serious point in a joking way. I feel whales and seals have somehow gotten a place in modern mindset where they are seen as at least as important as humans. Nearly holy. I suspect it's a bit like women who are pacifists in a country with compulsory military service for men. It's a stand made without having to sacrifice anything. Kinda symbolic. In the same way people can drive their car and eat steak for dinner every day, but they're careing about the envirorment because they are against whale hunting. Also, seals are cute and whales are majestic. You may very well have a perfectly good reasoning for opposing whale hunting and I hope you don't take what I just wrote personally.
