The eclipse was pretty much a non event where I live, 100% cloud cover. I did notice it get slightly darker for a few minutes. Almost as soon as the eclipse was over......you've guessed it, the cloud cover disappeared. X-(
Same down here near London But it's been much colder then normal today )
Here it was partialy clouded, so we didn't see much. A boy I know is on a resarch vessel near Svalbard, so he must have ha a world class view of the eclipse
An example of the importance of Photos.
A lady call to see me out of the Blue today asking if I might still have some photos of her son's communion.
It happened in 2006 ? They never bought any photos from me, but now her mother has died and there is no photo of
the family together except mine. So now after about Nine years, I'll get a sale.
Lucky for them I'm a little OCD about keeping all my "Pro" work on two back up hard drives, I know many photographers
who if there's no sale, delete the images that week.
So basically if you get the chance Take loads of photos of family, friends and loved ones. Someday they'll be so Important.

I could not agree more. I will add, not only photos but videos also.
This week is the sixth anniversary of my Mother's passing. Fortunately, the family has plenty of photos to remember her by. Unfortunately, none of the family were into video, so we have no video. The only piece of her voice we have left comes from the message she left on the answerphone, we absolutely treasure that.

Taking this sentiment further...as a book designer myself, I keep all of my clients books - and like you TP on a hard drive, as you NEVER know when someone will come back to you.. and for us that might mean a further sale, or in some cases, a new project to come to light.
Also, in your work, you must see some special moments. How great you had them, not only for the lady, but for your bank balance too.
And for anyone who has photos on their phone/computer - BACK THEM UP. Either to the cloud (becoming a lot more common) or on a USB drive. They are so precious. :x

Absolutely Lexi, I had a mate who lost his phone, it had hundreds of
Photos of his kids, over a couple of years. Never backed them up
I think with phones being so good these days, many do use them as
Photo albums to show friends. Which is great they are perfect for it
In fact I do a web version for clients of their wedding album, specifically
For their phones, so they can show friends etc when out for a drink.
But Always transfer them to a computer or hard drive. I have noticed that
Many people take photos but never seem to get them printed.

I nearly lost all our kids photos a few years back, I formatted a drive thinking I had them backed up!!!! I stayed up all night and got them back but christ I was bricking it thinking about what the mrs was going to do to me!
I have noticed that
Many people take photos but never seem to get them printed.
I use the photo booths at Boots... and whenever I go away on holiday, I always try and take some pics with my friends, or my son with them... and then I print them off, and stick them on a card, and send to them as a thank you card.
The camera on our phones are SO good - and I've had some really nice compliments on my pics. Printing them off is so easy... and my friends love it! It takes just a few mins, and it makes such a great present - thoughtful and super personal.
Anyone can do it - and there are some great tutorials on the web about using your phone camera in different ways.

My OH has an interest in Photographing Nature. She took some nice Pictures of a few Robbins and even a Badger that we saw skulking about in the Field thats behind our Block of Flats. Her Phone sadly crashed and they were lost
1.On Her Majesties Secret Service 2.The Living Daylights 3.license To Kill 4.The Spy Who Loved Me 5.Goldfinger
) glad to hear you got them back, I know there are a few bits of recovery
Software, but I don't know how good they are, as thankfully with my work
Procedure and using a double back up system. So far I've been OK.
( I hope I haven't just put the kiss of death on myself, saying that ) )
Yep!, the quality of some cameras in phones are very, very good -{ I've
Even seen some big prints taken with them and have been impressed.

I'v been thhinking of how many photos there are of my two sisters and my parents during hollidays and vacations, but so few from daily life. I grew up on a small farm, but now all the animals are sold. I don't think we have many pictures from farming - probably no Pictures of my father feeding the sheep and the oxes, something he did most days for most of his life. It's often the daily life pictures that are the most important.
Exactly Number24 -{ The everyday photos of life are the most important, I'm sure over the years farming has changed, and it would be great for you to be able to show future generations of how life was like. My wife comes from a Farming family and was
Overjoyed to be given a copy of a picture her grandfather and her father ( only a boy in the photo)
working in their fields with scythes etc.
In my own business, I know most couples get a bigger kick out of seeing my Documentary style photos of them mixing with family and friends. Than the posed formal photos.

I totally agree TP... those natural pics are so much more 'real' than the posed pictures you get at weddings. I also love those spontaneous ones you get, like the line up of the family, but they are all laughing at something... or caught off guard. As long as they don't look staged, they can be really effective.

I wonder about people who have their cameras or smartphones in front of their faces when visiting places like St Peter's in Rome or seing the royal family. When I visited St Peter's I walked around just taking everything in. Only when I was outside I bought a book with a lot of information and beautiful pictures from the place, much better than any photo I could have taken myself.
) That's when my absolutely fantastic joke telling ability comes to the fore.
I sometimes ask the wedding party to take their phones out to do some selfies
as I , photograph them. You get some great expressions and lots of laughter.

Yeh, there is a great pic of a young man sitting on a boat, he's totally focused on his phone, whilst a whale comes out of the water, just feet from him... he misses it entirely!

American Politics ?
Only caught the end of the news, about the first guy to throw his hat into the ring
For the next President, I think he's a Republican. The news said he was Born in
Canada, but has renounced his citizenship ?
Now I thought to be President you had to be Born in America ? Hence all the fuss
The Republicans tried to stir up about Obama ?

Her phone, as it's one of the only recordings they have .

Just one information for the Apple users here: EXIF Untrasher was great help in restoring 2 formatted memorycards of some friends of mine.....
