I was surprised of how new many of the ships were. I believed people stopped making large sailships after WWII, but some of the ships were from this millienia
I used to work in the Shipyard, for a private company making
Handmade luxury yachts for the Japanese market. ( I'm full
of suprises ). I remember talking to one of the naval architects
About sailing ships and he showed me photos of loads of modern
Luxury sailing ships, they were amazing and very Bond.
In case anyone is interested, I have no skills, I drove the van, picking up
Items to be put in the yachts etc.

Today we had sun for a few hours, but we won't see it again for many days
This was a reccord cold night, and in some communities People actually had to scrape ice off the windscreens of their cars.
I got a great bargin this week, a Roku 3, media streaming box with free
Now TV entertainment pass, which even though I'm already a customer
It worked. then on trying to cancel Sky movies on NowTv ( as I'm very
Happy with the choice on Netflix) Sky give me a half price discount on the
Movie package for four months ! so I'm a very happy viewer. Shows it
Always pays to haggle.

Although, It's my fault as Norway has a multitude of different landscapes,
but when I hear Norway, I think " The Heroes of Telemark" and all I think of
Is Snow. )

I see the resemblance, but there are some differnces. One picture shows tall mountains caped with snow and waterfalls going down to the fjord. Three large, white sailships are on the fjord.
The other picture shows the imagination of an Englishman trying to imagine a spectacular landscape

Watching the news this morning, I noticed David Cameron did an homage
to Sean Connery in Dr No. As on going into a meeting, he did up Both buttons
Of his suit. . You'd think he'd know better.

On the silly news front, some Police force in England wants bearded officers to
Wear " Beard nets" , are constables to start serving food, or selling ice-creams
as they patrol the streets. )

Are you joking? The world truly has gone mad. Next they'll be demanding they wear tutus and ballet slippers so that they can run faster when chasing people.

I think it's directed more at 'hipster' beards but it will also effect Sikh and Muslim officers. Either way it will look ridiculous.
To be fair, standards in uniform are atrocious these days and I think forces are trying to raise the bar.
I can never believe when you see female officers with straggly ponytails, tons of make up and painted nails. (hair especially was a safety issue and had to be in a tight bun). Also the number of tatoos that officers are allowed to display.
The uniform has had to change in order to be practical these days and the designs are not the smartest but standards need to be maintained. Its hard enough getting respect from the public without looking like a bag of cr@p.
Last night my sister and I went to an open air concert. The band was a very popular Norwegian band that plays Irish folk music/rock style music. The lead singer greeted the audience by saying "Good summer, folks!" Everyone laughed
The concert was held in the garden of an old hotel that had been frequently visited in the past by the German kaiser and other royals. The landscape was pretty much like it always is in my posts , but the weather was cloudy an grey. The band is especially know for summer themed songs, an irony that wasn't lost on the band and the audience )
Anyway, everyone had a great time!
Yes, this year the summer has been a complete wash out , not
Once have I been able to entertain the neighbours by squeezing in
to my tiny little speedos.
There're actually normal sized speedos, but there's so much of Me
to squeeze in to them. )
Nice photo as well Number24, so much of your beautiful country looks
like the cover image on a chocolate box.
