Well, I just wanted to say that I finally got around to seeing The Matrix 2: Reloaded, and The Matrix 3: Revolutions. So get ready, because here is. . . .
My review of The Matrix 2 & 3: Reloaded and Revolutions.
I was very impressed with Reloaded. It had very fine scenery, as I really liked the scene in the Zion temple, and in the freeway chase scene (have you guys seen the documentary on it? They had to build their own freeway just for the scene!!). Speaking of the freeway chase scene, I thought the special effects in it were absolutely fantastic. Another thing I loved was the scene with Neo fighting the many replicas of Smith. That scene was nothing short of spectacular. On a side note, now I know what people mean when they quote the Mirovingian: "It's like wiping your"
. . . Well, you get the idea. I give it 4.7 stars out of five, as I gave the original Matrix 4.2--I thought Reloaded went a few steps ahead of the original.
However, I was deeply disappointed with Revolutions. I thought they dragged on the Zion battle scene way too long, as it needed to get back to Neo. If I remember, that scene went for a good hour. Neo going into the Matrix to stop Smith was pretty cool, but I really wished that Trinity didn't have to die. To me, that seemed kind of pointless, since they had both saved each other once. I think they could have made it where she was somehow brought back to life by means of a miracle or something. I also think that they could have showed what happened to Neo (he probably died, from what I saw, but then the Oracle said they would see him again, someday. . . .).
The beginning of Revolutions, however, was different. I thought the fight scenes with Trinity, Morpheus and the Asian guy in the white coat (what was his name?) were very well done. Overall, I give Revolutions 3.8 stars out of five, as I didn't think it quite measured up to the original Matrix. It was still good to watch, though, because it gave the final ending to the story.
Out of all this, I give The Matrix Trilogy 4.5 stars out of five, as it is an excellent movie series, good to watch over-and-over again.
Hey guys, I'm finally back to this beloved topic. Nice avatar JM. Discussing the Matrix again? I think the original was still best. The series seemed to decay as time went on.
I agree that Revolutions went slow at points. It was good though, the only three really interesting parts (IMO) are the fight in Hel the Zion battle, and the final battle btw Neo and Smith. The music was awesome though. Well, I thought I would comment on that, just to let it out.
Oh, I'm a Star Wars fan also. You should meet my Science teacher Mr. Willis, he's a devoted SW fan such as yourself, Jedi Master. You would love to hang out with him!
Well . . . My review certainly got a LOT of replies (Tirpitz and Carver97 were the only two [thanks guys! ]). Something told me to put this in a separate topic. . . . Or perhaps it's a suject of discussion that has been done over-and-over again. . . .
Since it's a random forum, I should note that I have never seen a Star Wars at the cinema. Guess it never appealed to me, but I have since seen the first four (as in Episodes IV–VI and Episode I) on TV and was impressed by the original film.

I don't know about over there, but here in the U.S. the trilogy (episodes 4, 5, and 6) will be out on dvd in September of this year. And that's the special edition movies.

I have sadly never seen Return of the Jedi.
You absolutely must see it!! It's really good. If you like Star Wars, then I think you will like Return of the Jedi! You probably can rent it at any movie rental shop. I think you can also still buy the Special Edition on tape (with the rest of the Trilogy) at Wal-Mart or somewhere like that.
I think we need new flavors for this topic. This is pretty random, but let's talk children's TV shows, and anime (I know, not all anime is for kids, but it's just something to talk about along with the discussion), if anyone is interested at all in a discussion like this. I hope this doesn't tarnish my reputation on this site. . . . )
My favorite kids' TV show would have to be Pokémon. I don't know why I like it, I just think the whole concept of catching and battling these animal-like creatures is brilliant (though some will probably disagree with me). I also like the way some of the creatures look. My personal favorites are Articuno and Ninetales (do a Google Image Search for them, if you don't know what they look like. You can also do a Google Search for Pokémon itself, or go to http://www.pokemon.com if you have no idea what I am talking about here).
Hopefully, most people on this site are mature enough to not laugh at, or think bad of me for this.
There are a couple of favourites in our house as I have a 7yrs old daughter so I am pretty well versed in childrens programmes at the moment.
'Rugrats' has long been a favourite and I have found myself still watching it long after my daughter has lost interest!!! But the one we all watch because it caters for us all is 'The Simpsons'.Still one of the funniest programmes around.
Of the non cartoon types I really enjoy 'Two of a Kind' and 'Lizzie McGuire'...Both programmes are well made I think, with good stoylines and quite funny..... or maybe my brain is turning to mush after 7yrs of childrens TV aaargh
Oh, boy . . . I had forgotten about you. I should have known, the so-called Good General would be so immature as to laugh at me for this!

so i have not watched alot it is ok....my brother likes it alot.i dont blame him to me its not the best.but good if i where to grade it 1of 10 it would beat least 9
My little sister (10 yrs old) absolutley loves "That's So Raven" I don't know if it is in the UK but my sister thinks it's hilarious! Now, I'm sixteen and have long since grown out of children's TV but my friend Deanna (also 16) watched That's So Raven and is always saying it is her favorite TV show. Anyway, for those who've never seen it, it's about a teenage girl who has psychic powers, though she can't control when she gets them, they just happen. So, these visons make her do some funny things and she has to make the visions come true. It's oddly interesting and sort of amusing. My sister literally torturs me if she can't watch it. If I'm watching something on TV and my sister wants to watvh That's So Raven but I say no, she will actually pry the remote from my hands, hit me on the head with it and sit on top of me watching it so I can't stop her. I've grown used to it and every time I know the show's on and my sister walks into the room I run away! It's on the Disney Channel Friday nights at around 7 or 8 pm. If you are a fan of children's TV or have a child hooked on Blues Clues and are ripping your hair out watchng it with them, let them watch That's So Raven, I promise you hair will grow back.

Somehow, I don't think it'll capture the magic that the first three had.
It probably won't entirely, because I think the new ones are designed to appeal to a new generation. You know, after about twenty, twenty-five years later, it sounds reasonable that George Lucas would have changed his movie-making skills. Twenty-five years does a lot of things to people.
Anyway, I find the new episodes to be very good. No, you're right, they don't quite measure up to their predecessors, but I still think they capture the essence of the original films to a certain extent. I like Episodes 1 & 2 equally, and I like the originals just a little bit more. I'm just a general Star Wars fan who likes just about everything that is Star Wars.
I'm a very big Star Wars fan, but one who, like many others really appreciates only Episoded IV, V and VI.
My personal favourite is "Return of the Jedi" however which is a little unusual as most hard core Star Wars fans claim that it is not as good as "A New Hope" or especially "The Empire Strikes Back". I was shocked to hear that you hadn't seen it, Tirpitz. It is one of the finest films ever made, in my opinion.
My views on the new films. I liked Episode II more than Episode I, by a long shot, but they were both pathetic, and both had horrible moments throughout them. Episode I had Jar Jar Binks, and the person who thought that character up deserves to be shot first of all.. then we have Jake Lloyd - not the right actor to play a young Darth Vader. The whole inclusion of the Gungans was a mistake.
Episode II's problem was its obsession with focusing on the relationship between Anakin and Padme. I was absolutely sick of it by the end of the movie, and "Love Pledge" or whatever that awful piece of music that accompanied it was called. At least this film had what I found to be an amusing lightsaber battle, between Christopher Lee and Yoda.
My ratings (out of five stars);
- Episode I: The Phantom Menace - 1*
- Episode II: Attack of the Clones - 3*
- Epidode III: Birth of the Empire - ???
- Episode IV: A New Hope - 3*
- Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back - 4*
- Episode VI: Return of the Jedi - 5*
"Episode III: Birth of the Empire" could be really good. Personally, I am not expecting too much based on what Episodes I and II were like. Though it will be interesting to see Darth Vader again.
Oh and one more thing also, the time setting of the new films doesn't match the ages of the characters in the old films.
"A New Hope" is thirty years after "The Phantom Menace". Anakin was nine years old in "The Phantom Menace", so that would make him 39 in "A New Hope"... which doesn't match up. Luke Skywalker is obviously well into his twenties (Mark Hamill who played Luke was 26 in A New Hope). So Darth Vader is too young to be Luke's father. Yet that all get's thrown out again in Return of the Jedi when Luke removes Darth Vader's helmet. The unmasked Darth Vader is played by Sebastian Shaw (1904 - 1994) who was 79 years old in the film... a good thirty years too old for the age Darth Vader should have been. So there is a lot of continuity caused by the new films. Grrrrrr!
Actually, just because the actor was in his twenties doesn't mean he is that age. To me, Luke seemed more like 17 or 18 in EP IV and through the next two films, he seemed to age (which explains Vader looking old in VI. So, I'm guessing this:

To me, 29 doesn't seem too young to have a child. My dad was 29 when I was born and he's 45 now. Also, my mom was 25 when she had me, she's 41.

I'm just guessing. You may be right, it might be an error, or not. We'll have to ask Lucas!
