You know...gravity pens. The ones astronauts use (apparently they have a lot of paperwork to do in space.)
Seriously though, "gravity" pens were a designed pen that wrote even if they were upside down. It was some fancy pen that NASA used for shuttle crews because they didn't have gravity to pull the ink out of the pen. I don't know all the details, but I remember a friend showing one off to me back in the early 90s.
Quoting Emilio_Largo:
Interesting, I had never heard of Gravity Pens!
Better that way, I don't quite see the point in them, at what point in my life am I going to write upside in the snow?? If I ever went into space i'm sure they'll supply them for free
Pardon me, but isn't there one single computer aboard an American spaceship? If I'd ever become an astronaut, I challange all the NASA geeks to read my hand-writing.
Don't feel obliged to post every time you look at the thread, I often read over new posts without actually saying anything myself!
I love the joke about the pencil btw, brilliant!
So, first of October, what does everyone have going on this month? (It's not actually October as I post this but it's 9:50pm 30 September so soon enough!)
I'm actually performing in a production of Oliver at the end of the month, I'm fagin. I also have a trip to see Romeo and Juliet planned, but apart from that I can't think of anything, so like I said what are you up to?
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and everyone dies.
There's a location not far from my home which is an old studio where they shot the old classic westerns. They don't really film much there anymore, but every October they turn it into a "Halloween Ghost Town" kind of thing at night. It's not that scary, but my friends and I have found that if you take a shot of tequila every once in a while at the saloon, the whole affair becomes quite hilarious as the night goes on. Those are my big October plans!
Ah, plans for October! Let's see: every night I vist a great board called Absolutely James Bond and basically that's it... If I don't log on for a week, please send an e-mail to my landlord that there's a dead body in his basement.
Hey Emilio, I feel sorry for you! You do get the weird teachers from time to time, usually drama teachers as well. My drama teacher is weird but he is a fantastic teacher, and director come to that! He really knows what he's doing!
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and everyone dies.
Well my Geography teacher is like a female version of Hitler! She shouts at you to stop talking even when you are silent, and when you get something out of your pencil case, she yells at you to stop fidgeting!
Hey Emilio
That first link seemed to no longer be valid. The second one worked great, though. Pretty interesting stuff. I had seen the different ranks in the Tie Fighter game, but never compared them with the films. My guess would be that from 77-83 when the first films were made, no one had clearly defined the ranking symbols. I'm sure the costume or prop designer gave it some thought, but it probably wasn't until the early 90s when LucasArts got big into video-gaming and novelizations that a creative team established a consistent order in the Star Wars Universe. That seems like something Lucas should have fixed in the DVD release, but then he probably wasn't expecting someone with eagle-eyes like yours!
Oh that kind of survive, escape rather than actually survive being in it! In my old age my force perception is playing up! The wrinkles over my eyes don't help!
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and everyone dies.
Did anyone else watch the 12 part 'From The Earth To The Moon' series on TNT. It was excellent, my dad turned it on at about 10 in the morning and my family was hooked. It was a story about the Apollo missions. There was a blend of political issues back then and the actual missions. I really recommend it.

Yeah, Tom Hanks does an intro to each of them and then he acts in the last one. Again, it is really excellent.
