I think that the North Korean dictator is mentaly unstable or mentaly ill even. The words, which are his words, coming from there are stupididty. They treaten now to fire the missiles near to Guam in the few days time. Does the dictator follow his words with action so that he does not lose face. I think any missile landing in the sea any where near Guam perhaps even a few hundred miles away could not be ignored by the USA?

It seems that no one can reason with the dictator, not even his allys in China. I wonder if the end of the regime might come not from America but from China itself? By this i mean that they are in the position perhaps to enginer the coo against the dictator and replace him with another who they can then control? I think perhaps that the chinese inteligence will have many powerful men they speak to in the North Korean military. Would it be better for the chinese to end this, keep control of the area (or have more control in the end) without having the war and not also the possible South Koreans and Americans take control of the North in a war?

Today the north Koreans have announced plans to launch 4 missiles to land 20miles off the coast of Guam which will be ready by the middle of next week!!! They say Trump is irrational!!!

The "fire and fury" comment from Trump is a quote from what Harry Truman said before Hiroshima. I read a book about Trump a few years ago, and I'm pretty sure those words were planned after long discussions inside his administration. Did the rest of the Secretary of State, Defence Minister and the VP know before hand what Trump was going to say? We don't know, but it's reasonable to think they knew Trump would send a strong signal after NK threathened Guam. That's the President's job if US territory is threathened. But using those words in this situation was irresponsible. We're used to NK using that sort of language, but the US hasn't used such flamatory (pun intended) words before. The danger is that NK might interpret his words as a change in policy and an US attack is coming. That might sound like a good thing, but NK might react by stepping up hostilities. To be honest I suspect no-one knew what Trump would say five minutes before he said it, including the President himself.

From what I am hearing the "Fire and Fury" line came directly from Steve Bannon - not sure if Trump bothers reading books.

It's been widely reported that Trump improvised his fire and fury statement, I'm not sure if this means he's highly confident in his oratory skills or didn't take the situation seriously enough? N Korea have stated that they have no fear in taking on a superpower which how deluded they've made themselves. China as I thought are staying neutral but are massively shocked that the new sanctions havnt worked! They've said they would act against any aggressor be it n Korea or the USA, which is a frightening thought if Trump orders a strike first. An interesting and unfortunate statistic is that America has spent 90% of its history at war.

I'm back in England for a couple of weeks or so and am going to do a few Bondian things. Today we went to Rules in Covent Garden where a scene from SP was filmed. This really is a magnificent restaurant the oldest in London apparently. We were seated not far from the SPECTRE table which was nice. The food was excellent, crab salad to start for me and vegetable soup for Mrs CHB. We both had the steak and kidney pie for the main course followed by stilton cheese for me and nothing for Mrs CHB who is not keen on desserts (neither am I actually but I always go for cheese). A nice bottle of Chablis completed the meal. The service was impeccable and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Shopping in Jermyn Street tomorrow and a visit to the Bond In Motion exhibition at the London Film Museum :)
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

I've called into probably one of the most interesting service stations I've ever been to today as both the alfa and myself needed some refreshments. It has a cyberman and daleks on the roof, autobots guarding the outside, stormtroopers providing security inside. The key for the toilet is attached to darth vadars mask and Han solo in carbon freeze is hanging next the cash point guarded by Boba fett!
