Greetings, all! My name is Josh and I'm a Bond fan from East Tennessee. I've been a lurker for some time now, and I just finally decided to join. I've been a huge Bond fan since long before it was appropriate for me to watch the films. My dad got me into Bond when I was 5 or 6. I've loved the character ever since. I'll stop droning on and just express how pleased I am to be on this board.

Hello Josh, welcome to AJB. Hope you enjoy yourself here!
Breaking news for the benefit of our non UK based agents .A man has been arrested out the Houses of Parliment after running over 7 pedestrians in his car . No deaths reported as yet by the Met police
Interesting story from Scotland today, Police had to close a road due to extreme traffic....caused by Whisky lovers clammering to get their hands on a limited edition Macallan called Genesis.
£495 per bottle. Not bad considering a bottle if M series Macallan will set you back £6k.
Today I listened to the BBC Radio 4 adaptation of "War of the Worlds ". I've never read the
original Book, but this was fantastic. As alien invasion in 1897, being fought off with Canon
and shot. What a stir this must have caused to Victorian Britain. With new weapons being
used by the aliens, like poisonous gas !

The original book is wonderful, I read it at school, and the various film versions are great too - but the best version is Jeff Wayne's brilliant album War of the Worlds from the 70s -{

(Bear with me on this) We took the grand children to Lego land at Windsor the other week, and due to the usual foul ups on the worlds biggest car park , the bloody M25 , my Met police navigator 8-) took us on a magical mystery tour across Surrey to beat the traffic . And whilst trying to drive and have a conversation with Norfolk police on the car phone , and listening to 2 screaming kids in the car ( how we didn't all get killed in a crash God knows) Any how whilst following my sons directions ,there it was , Horsell common , (thank god for that says TP I didn't think he'd get there ) ) So had to pull over and marvel at its beauty , this is where it started not Bayone in New Jersey , This beautiful piece of England , I would land here too if I was a Martian 8-) Why we stopping came a command from Mrs As tucked between the 2 kids in the back of the X3 , it's HG Wells , I replied , you know war of the worlds ?? . Are the Kardashians in it she says , give me strength , where's Sillouhette man when you need him . So there i sat me sucking up the serenity and majesty of Horsell common , a pice of cinema graphic history , can we go to Lego land please
I asked in another place on the AJB but got no reply. I ask here. I wonder if any body could tell me good James Bond audio books that are not by Ian Fleming? I have listened to all the Ian Fleming books and also the radio plays. The radio plays I find very good. The Ian Fleming books also. I know other writers write James Bond books but I wonder which are the best you have listened to so that I can buy them. Thankyou.
I'm no expert Joshua but you can get several audio books on
Google play books. I bought Forever and a day, Col Sun and
Really enjoyed both. ( I too am a fan of audio books) I think
Both audio books cost £9.99 although I think several of the
Non Fleming books and bbc plays are available on YouTube.
I think there's an app " YouTube downloader " which allows you
To download to your phone or tablet.

Relaxing on holiday after a shower and watching Spectre. I really think this is one that will go up in people's estimations after a few viewings. I loved Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation but can't imagine it standing up to multiple viewings.
I too am watching Spectre at the moment and think so many of
The shots look so stylish, and so well visually composed. I
Enjoy the MI films but they are fairly standard action movies,
but apart from the big stunt sequences, nothing really stands out.
While with Spectre, the cinematography of the Italian funeral, the
Placement of actors, within the architecture is stunning, just one
Example from the movie.

I just posted something that might interest some of you in the "Forever and a day - spoilers" thread in the Litterature section. I posted it there (two posts) because there are several links to Bond's second assassination, the one that gave him the 00-status, but it should be safe to read for those who haven't read Horowitz' novel yet. It's about two real assassinations in Stockholm around the time of the war. It's a story involving agents and double agents, a real Miss Moneypenny and revenge. I might add photos later. :007)
I remember going to see Enter The Dragon back in '73- it's a great popcorn flick! And pretty close to a Bond movie, in a sense. I love "A Fistful Of Yen", the parody of ETD included in "Kentucky Fried Movie"- https://vimeo.com/212664625
We took the grand kids to Crystal palace park today to see the dinosaurs ?. These excellent models of dinosaurs have enlightened millions of south London school children for decades ,They were put there by the Victorians ,and in their hey day must have been awe inspiring ,but I suppose with films , DVDs etc the school kids probably find them a bit lame , but I enjoyed them
One day on a trip to a Zoo, my wife took a lot of trouble to take a photo of a Rhino lying down. Only to be
told by my oldest girl, that what she was photographing was …………… an old tree trunk !

Do you remember the new nuclear powered cruise missile Vladimir Putin bragged about on TV some time ago, nice computer graphics and all?
Apparently they have test-fired four and four have crashed, one in the Barents Sea. Three ships are searching for the one in the Barents Sea.

Actually some of it is pretty good. But during the cold war the USSR spent about 20% of GDP on the military. I think the US spent about 7% and Norway about 3.5% on the military. I haven't checked the numbers Russia spend on the military today, but I bet you it's much more than what an enormous country with consideredable social problems and an GDP camparable to Spain's should spend on a conflict largely created by their own government.

Hello Josh, welcome to AJB. Hope you enjoy yourself here!
(There's a dedicated thread to say hello)
Thanks! And apologies, I was having trouble finding the introduction thread. )
Cool! I have several friends who attended ETSU as well. What year did you graduate?
Most of mine graduated in (or just after) 2012.
