If anyone thinks everything is calm and boring in Norwegian politics I have news for you!
Today the partner of the former Minister of Justice got one year and eight months in jail for endangering democracy and for arsony. Back when it all happened her partner was minister (he resigned when the police arrested her) and there were several threats made against the couple, graffiti painted on their car and house and the car was set fire to. The police and the court now believe she did it herself to make political oponents (especially a tiny independent theatre she really disliked) look guilty. So, we sometimes have crazy poltics! :s :D

The Child Protection Services sometimes legally remove children from their parents to protect the children. It happens the Child Protection Service is wrong, but they never profit from it.

Thank you caractacus potts! It's always a pleasure to interact with you here. 2020 rather waylaid me with all its troubles but I have a few more ideas for literary Bond topics that I hope to cover in 2021. :)

The Philippines was hailed as the second most “Instagrammable” — or very appealing to photographed and shared on the social media site Instagram—place in the world in 2021, by a global travel website.

In its list released Thursday, travel website Big 7 Travel said that the Philippines was “home to incredible natural wonders like an underground river and tranquil rice terraces in addition to a vibrant culture and history spanning several millennia.”

“From the bustling capital of Manila complete with colorful colonial streets to the absolute oasis of Boracay, the gram opportunities here are endless,” the website added.

“The Department of Tourism (DOT) celebrates the inclusion of the Philippines in the Most Instagrammable Places in the World list of the renowned travel website Big 7 Travel for the year 2021,” the DOT said.

I’m very proud to live here, as far as I’m concerned there is nowhere better.

A few months ago we planned a Guns of Navarone watchalong. But then Connery sadly died and we switched to DN only days before, and somehow Navarone was forgotten. Now many of us are experiencing a really strict shutdown, and we need some social activity and fun perhaps more than ever.
Is there interest out there for a Guns of Navarone watchalong some time next month?
    Please give feedback! :)

I watched a little bit of 'Bullet to Beijing' today. I must say the small bit I saw was terrible. I have seen some Michael Caine films but this is the worst I've seen acting wise!

Jason Connery was in it and this is what I want to ask. Was he ever put forward as James Bond?

Has he ever mentioned playing James Bond? Did he not want to?

I guess if he had the only thing that would have happened was he would be compared to his father all the time?
  • Napoleon PluralNapoleon Plural LondonPosts: 10,463MI6 Agent
I've never heard of Jason Connery being a serious contender for Bond. I guess he was blond for a start - so who ever heard of such a thing? :D
Yes, it would have been mentioned in the tabloids in a jokey sort of way but I don't think Jason Connery really had the acting chops, he did alright in what was perhaps a kids' TV show - or am I being too harsh? - but that's about it.
Plus this was the 1980s I think so the part was tied up between Moore and then either Brosnan or Dalton had it.

Thank you. From what I saw of him in Bullet To Beijing I think I must agree with you about his acting ability. Though I am too being harsh because I should not form an opinion on a few minutes of a bad film.

I presume the children's show you speak about is Robin of Sherwood? I have never heard of this before until I searched yesterday but will look on You Tube to see if it is on there.

Sadly it seems his hair has gone the same as his fathers.

It would have been interesting to see what kind of Bond he made. He did play Ian Fleming though I believe.

If anybody has got a few minutes spare & fancies a bit of a giggle, have a search on Youtube or Twitter for the Handforth Parish Council (UK) zoom call that's gone viral. Brilliantly British stuff.

Oh, I think I saw a bit of that last night but didn't know where it was from. It was people shouting at each other about not having any authority. I'll have to look the full thing up then!

It has been announced that President Rodrigo Duterte will be attending the 500th anniversary of the Victory at Mactan on April 27, 2021. The activity will be held at the Liberty Shrine in Barangay Mactan, just minutes away from where I live.

Unfortunately they will be limiting the number of spectators to 50-100 who would be attending the activity. Mayor Chan said that this is to ensure that the social distancing protocol will still be observed, and for the security of the president.

The activity will highlight the reenactment of the Battle of Mactan, wherein Datu Lapulapu defeated the Spaniards led by Ferdinand Magellan. On the day of the celebration gala and cultural show, there will be a fireworks display, and drone display,

This will be nice for the locals, such a pity only a few will be able to attend, though.
