Funnily enough, there's nothing plugged into the outlet where the circuit breaker is. One wall switch controlling some overhead lighting, a desk lamp, and a space heater were the only things that were on. Actually, there's an old CD player plugged into the same outlet as the circuit breaker, but the CD player hasn't been turned on in months.
Flattery will get you nowhere, but don't stop trying.
But when the circuit breaker trips, everything shuts off right? The space heater sounds suspicious, but anything could be drawing too much power through the circuit. Did you by chance replace any of the light bulbs in the overhead lighting or desk lamp recently?

Hehehe, thanks for your help
I've tried turning everything off, and then just turning the desk lamp on, but the circuit will pop twenty (as opposed to five :P) seconds later. The lighbulbs haven't been replaced in months and still work perfectly fine. For the last two months or so I've been able to have the overhead lights, desk lamp, and space heater on at the same time without any problems, so at the moment I'm rather perplexed. I don't have anything new plugged in and turned on. Perhaps it's the really heavy rain outside that's somehow messing things up :S?

I'm no electrician, I just recall that a few months back, one of my circuit breakers continued to trip and my porch light kept blowing out. I had put 70W bulbs in the porch light, but when I swapped them out with 60W, the problem stopped.
Try physically unplugging things, and only turn on one thing at a time. Even when items are plugged in, current is still cycling through them. If there's a short in one of the items, it could be interfering with the circuit.
There's also the potential for power spikes overloading the circuit. If that's the case, all you can do wait for the power supply to level off.
Sorry, but there's not much else I can suggest. I'm about to "power down" myself. Hopefully someone else will come along and give you some better advice.
Good luck!

Try calling PG&E. A while back while using the laundry machine in my house I was drawing a lot of power to the point where The machine wouldn't work. We called Maytag and they said nothing was wrong with the machine. We called PG&E, they came out and replaced the outside grounding wire. I don't know if this helps, but hopefully it will give some lead way. If all else fails PG&E should be able to help (provided you use PG&E). And I don't think it costs much if any thing for them to come out. Call 'em, explain the situation and they should be able to help. Good Luck!
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope
Quoting The Cat:
No offence, but what is crackhead? Or is it something I should never learn? ?:)
It's one of those American terms for somebody that smokes crack. Some people, like me, say it as a joke about something stupid that is said. I said it cause you said it was your 2000th post, and you're really at 3000 something. It's not supposed to mean anything bad though.:)
Lol, yes congratulations to Random Chat, sorry I've not posted in what seems like ages!
If I may offer my advice on the electrical problem...
Have you tried, removing the circuit breaker? Or that's ileagle/impossible getting a new one or something?! It could be the problem! Alternatively make sure all the items are wired properly (for example our whole house circuit kept blowing, we narrowed it down to the lights in one room and found that earth wasn't wired anything like it should have been and that the neutral wire was, I think, not connected at all!). Just some ideas, you probably already checked the appliances but let us know how you get on anyway!
I played Rogue Agent earlier today, it was very good, graphics were quite good (for a console!) and apparantly the plot, whilst being farfetched, is quite good! I think this game has been long awaited: Far too many games punish you for being cruel or a traitor, but that is what you are supposed to do in this game!! And... ***

If you had paid attention, I was referring to that it was the 2000th reply on RANDOM CHAT! Who's crackhead now?
Long live Random Chat! Hooray! {[]
HMMM, I guess that would be me.:) But had you been more specific, ,no offense, I wouldn't have had to call you a crackhead. But it's my fault I guess 'cause I didn't even think about looking to see how many posts were in this thread.:)

If you haven't guessed yet, jbfreak and little nellie1 are brothers. Methinks it's sibling rivalry
BTW: I still have no idea what's wrong with the circuit breaker. The utilities companies are out to get me, I swear; PG&E won't show up for another few days because they're "very busy" at the moment because a bunch of lines were knocked over in the last storm or something. Thankfully the rest of the house has electricity, though the circuit breaker for the kitchen will pop if you have the toaster and the microwave on at the same time...

See the earth/fuse system works so well! And it's so simple! Why don't we all have that!? I mean I do but why doesn't everyone else, and I do know the answer I'm just being, I dunno but I think it's a good system, it is isn't it?!

yea, I knew they were brothers...but...oh man, now I'm even more confused...T_T I have no idea whats going on!!!

Simple, a few pages ago, The Cat said "2000th post. Sorry I couldn't resist." I called him a crackhead. What he meant was that it was the 2000th post of this thread. I thought he was being sarcastic and meant it as it was his 2000th post. My brother, being young, thinks he knows it all, so he is trying to act smart.
Time to start something new.
I am having trouble with some homework.
I can't figure out the definition of the prefix of COSM. I used an online dictionary and it said the word doesn't exist. If anybody knows the answer it would help me a bunch.

That is proabably why. Last week, one section of our Christmas lights would not turn on because of the rain.

There's one to start you off, I can't think of anymore! Look in a proper dictionary for words starting with Cosm, that could lead you to the answer...
