lol Yeh I prefer widescreen, no competition! Well, I just got back from an audition for another show! And I got a part so I'm on a kind of a tired high! Woot! I like that! Woot!
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and everyone dies.
I would have to say that I prefer widescreen to pan-and-scan, because with widescreen, you see the film as it was meant to be seen. However, I don't like the letterbox format, because it just cuts too much off the top of the screen and it makes it hard to see, unless you have a gigantic TV. I just wish that all DVDs came with a choice of pan-and-scan or widescreen--the ones that are double-sided, with one side being widescreen and the other being standard.
I also wish that my DVD player would do justice to its zoom function--I could use it when I have to watch a movie in letterbox format, except there's this annoying "reminder" that shows up right on the center of the screen that says it is zoomed in, and it refuses to go away. . . .

I have to DVD Players. One of them has a reminder in the upper left scene. The other onde doesn't do that, but the zoom function is terrible as it slows down the picture. It's just not fair...
congrats on getting the part, JM, and yes, Fox, I get that same stupid reminder...ARRG! It drives me MADD!!! and btw...this is my 600th post here on AJB! just had to share that!
Well my dvd player won't even zoom in, I've never heard of that! Maybe it does and I'm just ignorant, that is very possible!
Has anyone ever seen "The Whole Nine Yards" with Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry, I just watched it and I thought it was brilliant! What a great ending!
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and everyone dies.

It sucks when you zoom in though because you know you are cutting a ton of things off of the screen.
Very true. I do like widescreen (1.75:1), just not the cinema widescreen (2.40:1), simply because I don't have a television large enough to actually be able to see the picture at that point, as about two-thirds of the screen consists of black bars! So, in my opinion, some zooming in is okay, just not completely. Though there are also some exceptions to this, because some movies look just fine in full-screen, however there aren't many of those around.
Mr. Cat, I suppose The Coveted Order of White Fur is going to have to set out on a great and noble quest . . . To find a DVD player with a decent zoom-in feature! )
Be sure to avoid stores with a bad return policy! )
Anyway, I must congratulate Pendragon on her 600th post on our site! Here's to that future 1,000th! {[]
Oh, and JM, I've never seen The Whole Nine Yards (are you sure it's "Nine" Yards, because I always thought it was called "Ten" Yards ), but I've heard that it's pretty good. Is it on video yet? If it is, I'll have to see it! But don't give me any spoilers!

Anyone like Racing Games? There's a change in subject. I love them; it usually doesn't take me long to completely master any racing game I play.
Hehe... I prefer GeneRally and BigRed Racing... both PC. I literally can't master anything else, but I've proven to be unbeatable at these two.

Haven't heard of GeneRally but have played BigRed Racing; I'm sure you'd beat me on that.
I love Touring Car racing mainly. I've played a few good Formula One games too. I've never played an online racer though, that would be fantastic. Anyone have any recommendations?

Haven't heard of GeneRally.
It's the most simple racing game ever, but it's lots of fun for rainy afternoons. It's good because anyone can learn the controls in five seconds, so it's easy to introduce new players. Also, you can make your own levels, and there are great websites where you can download fan-made levels, which can be sometimes awesome. And naturally, you can make tournaments, which is the most fun of them all. And everything is downloadable from the internet.
But I don't suppose this is your league. (This is a compliment )
Cheers, Cat! Will certainly take a peek, I like almost any racing game really.
My favourite thing about Project Gotham Racing, is that you can put your own music on it. This is one of the advantages of the Xbox; I can race my mates (and thrash them, even though some of them come close) whilst listening to action music from the Bond films, the Star Wars films and heaps of others. "Ice Bandits" from TWINE is the best; it makes everyone so tense, and doubles the fun.
What I like about TOCA Race Driver, is the "Free Race" mode. You can put any of the cars in the game against you, and you get a different race every time. I threw Saabs, Minis, Dodge Chargers, Chevrolet Monte Carlos, Subaru Imprezas, everything into one race; it was choas, but amazing fun. If anyone really loves racing games, they don't come much better than this one.
See I'm not into race games, which is ironic because I love games where you can free drive, like Grand Theft Auto (3 upwards) or The Simpsons Hit 'n' Run. These games are so rare! But the Grand Theft Autos are the best I've played so far! (Ps I only play PC games because I just prefer the gameplay! On a PC you can always have music playing!)
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and everyone dies.
congratulations! I am doing Math HW, and gearing myself up to watch the STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS later to get a laugh at our president. have fun with those new books, jbf!

Personal Favourites are TOCA Race Driver and Project Gotham Racing (Both Xbox).
Who's in the casket match? Undertaker or Kane? Or two different people?
