It's a play telling of the life of Tracy Turnblad. Her mother, Edna, and her father Wilbur prohibit her going to audition for a dancing role on The Corny Collins show. She has a big crush on one of the stars, Link Larkin, and don't think that he'll ever notice her. He does, they get together, she gets on the show, tried to intergrated TV and ends up being sent to jail. She gets out of Jail, makes friends with a bunch of "the forbidden people" (black people) and rouses much suspision before going to jail. Everything tuns out right in the end, you'll have to see it to get the finer details. It's a great show...and I'd recomend renting the movie if the stage show is not in your town.

You know Cat, maybe you've tried to decorate your site bit too much... it's so slow. Too much fur, or did you take that off...
Where's the problem? The fur is still in the background on some pages... Or do you mean the different backgrounds movie-by-movie? Geez... I didn't realize they would make it so slow.
Well, it shouldn't be the fur. That image is just a small file that tiles over and over. Once it downloads, your computer doesn't need to mess with it anymore. I would chalk it up to simply bandwidth problems on either end. Sometimes my computer will download most of the pics on the Cat's homepage but stops short of finishing about the last two images. If I hit refresh it usually downloads fine.
Quoting Pendragon:
I can only see the opening page...then it gets all slow like....:(
Now this is worrying... Slow like what? Believe me, the background images aren't that large either. But perhaps I'll just change those. I'll just keep the design of the opening page.
Well..data is still data. And distance is still distance. The more data you have, and the longer distance it has to travel, it's going to take more time. Granted, we're only talking fractions of seconds here, but it still adds up.
You also need to take into consideration everyone's "cyber" infrastructure. When I lived in an apartment complex, I was appalled at the lag in my dial-up some evenings afterwork. Everyone in the complex was coming home and checking their e-mail and causing a strain on the bandwidth of the apartment complex. When I moved into a new home, I figured it would improve but it actually got a little slower. When I asked the phone technician, he explained to me that all of the Tucson internet data passes through a central point here in the city. Since I had moved further away from that point, my access speed suffered a bit.
I'm no internet whiz, but I can say there's plenty of things that can happen between computers from US and Europe that can affect download times.

I've heard this also darenhat. Are a variation of it. I use DSL and it has filter points are something like that. My DSL feed comes from a long way away. At least 40 or 50 miles. So my DSL is a little on the slow side. I've heard the closer you are to this point the faster your service is. I know some people that live 12 miles away that can't get DSL. The phone company tells them it's unavalible in their area.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

It seems to me that the pictures on the front page are what take so long to load. Though I really can't understand why, since the average size of each picture is about nine KB, which, even on a dialup connection, should each only take around three or four seconds at the most. But even with a slow connection, things should still progress smoothly, even if it is moving slowly.
But it does move very slowly, as I'm timing it, and after four minutes, it's only half-way done. . . . When I click on the little computer in the taskbar for the connection's status, it says it is connected at 44.0 Kbps, and after several minutes of waiting, it seems that it just timed out, forcing me to refresh the page and start again and continue from what's in the cache.
Overall, by my watch, it took 13 minutes and 50 seconds to load up. However, there may be something up with my connection, since it has been acting weird lately. But it does seem safe to assume that it takes several minutes to load on a dialup connection. Perhaps it's a slow server that's causing this?
Anyway, I hope this has helped, and I hope you get it straightened out, Cat!
Yeah... Guess I'll have to get rid off the opening page... But I worked so hard on those funny pictures. I'll go and see the server owner to see whether the problem could be on our side...
Oh my, it's horrible! I was wondering whether it would have something to do with browsers, but nay... I think I'll make the images smaller when I have time.
I'm BACK! From France, it was wicked before you ask! I'm really sorry but I'm just too tired to read back through all the posts I missed, maybe tomorrow eh?! Anyway hi again all! Bye again!
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and everyone dies.

Yeah, but I can't get another one at the moment.
And it's actually supposed to be "People's", it's talking about people's opinions! I'll go and change it now, thanks for pointing it out ONS!
I believe a good, hard slap usually does the trick. *SLAP*
