Derek Acorah's brief "No one needs me anymore!" did make me giggle though.
Yeah that was cracking!
No real excuse to rip off the Shaun of the Dead gag with Tricia verbatim, though. Pretty perfect apart from that (bit shameful if you ask me).
i must say i loved the character of yvonne hartman and i loved to whole ep too, the only thing i didn't like were the ghosts' appearance (light blue and blury) it would have been better if the producers put make up on lots of extras to make them look spooky and of course they should have braught leslie grantham back for the spirit of den watts in the eatenders sketch

Mmmmm...seems someone missed the whole point of the "ghosts". They weren't ghosts, they imprints of the Cybermen pressing through reality.

yeah but it would have made it more realistic if the cybemen could morph into the people there impersonating

But then they wouldn't have been Cybermen. They'd have been morphy-alien things, instead of cyborgs from an alternate earth and the Doctor's old enemies.
Excellent episode though; Tracy-Ann Oberman was just fantastic, channelling all the best bits of Chrissie into a sympathetic yet unsympathetic yet sympathetic bitch queen. The reveal of Mickey was lovely, and do I really need to mention that the Daleks coming out of the ball was just unbelievably fantastic? My boyfriend nearly leapt out of his seat with excitement; he had to be hosed down afterwards with cold water.
Really looking forward to next week's episode, though it's tempered by sadness that (a) Billie is leaving and (b) there'll be no more Dr Who until Christmas.
P.S. Did anyone see the Confidential coverage of Torchwood? Looking forward to that just as much too - the more Captain Jack the better!

I'll just tell you what it was like whilst I was watching it. I was round at my mates cus me and another mate were sleeping round. Me and her sister are screaming at the TV every time someone does something or says something stupid. Then towards the end my mate nicks off with my sonic screwdriver whilst I'm screaming at the TV "SPHERE CYBER CONTROLLER!!!! SPHERE CYBER CONTROLLER!!!!!". Then we get about 10 mins from the end and I go, "wait - no I know!!! SPHERE DALEKS!!! SPHERE DALEKS!!!" Then... "YES! GET IN THERE! UP YOURS MAN!!! THIS IS THE GREATEST THING EVER!!!" so then it ends and my mate starts screaming cus there's no next time. so I tell her to calm down cus it'll be on after the credits. but then i decide i don't want to see it and turn the TV off and she starts attacking me with the pillows she's been clutching all the way through it. my other mate comes out from behind the sofa (seriously) and turns it back on just in time and we all sat there eyes wide and mouths open just starring at the TV. ) BLIMEY THAT WAS GOOD!!!
OK - me going crazy and obsessive.
BTW - did anyone ever get Doctor Who Magazine when it first came out? Like in the '80s? I've brought some off ebay and they're really good!
Relax darling, I'm on top of the situation -{

It's good to see the series return to form - the last couple of episodes have been poor.
Good performances all round and the chance for a story to develop for a change. Really looking forward to next weeks episode
Interesting choice! I did initially think "Hang on, does that mean she get's her brain back?" but I see it's a different character. Her screentime last episode was really too short to judge, but I'm sure she'll be fine, though Billie really will be a hard act to follow. She certainly looks the part though!
Let's be honest, how many of us thought "Urgh, Billie Piper?!?" when we first heard her casting announcement?

It sounds like a lie, but I genuinely thought she was great casting when I heard. She'd just done a play on BBC2 and the Shakespeare thing and had shown how a great and natural actor she was in both, so I was really happy to hear she got it. There have been rumours about this girl for a while now so I kept a keen eye out for her in this week's Who and I thought she seemed very warm and decent enough (although didn't really get the chance to do anything else!) but I'm not quite as reassured as I was about Billie. Still, I'm sure she'll be very good and, love Billie though I do, I think I might be happy to see the back of Rose.

I have me doubts about her really - but I'm sure I'll warm to her eventually.
Well that was simply amazing. Fantastic telly, note perfect.
It totally was. Just brilliant from start to finish. I did like the sarcastic streak in the black Dalek - "This isn't a war, this is pest control!" - was nice and sly. The Cybermen were infinitely more sinister than they were earlier in the series too. Just great.
Okay, please bear with me, as I'm a bit of a Doctor Who novice.
I've watched a few of the classic episodes (in repeats) featuring Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy & Peter Davison but none of the others.
I do have the complete 2005 series on DVD (in the TARDIS box set) which I think is terrific.
And I watched The Christmas Invasion episode, which has just aired here in Australia on Saturday night (I even persuaded my girlfriend to watch it with me! )
Now, I would like to know more, about the Doctor/s, his villains, companions, what episodes are available on DVD, etc. Anything that features a Timeline would be terrific.
I have done some internet searches, but to no avail.
Does anyone here know of a useful Doctor Who website, or a book, that I could use to help me catch up (even just a little bit)?
Thanks heaps guys.

Other than the main BBC website for the classic series, which you've probably already tried, at Episode Guide, www.gallifreyone.com is a rather comprehensive guide to everything Who. There's also a nicely illustrated reference book available. Hope that helps!
Thanks M5, I've seen that Dr Who book in my local store and was umming & arring as to whether to purchase it. Based on your advise it looks like I will just have to now!
And thanks for the links too!

was the cyberman defending 'queen and country' yvonne hartman becase that was a womans voice and thats the last thing she said before she was 'de-brained'
I finally watched saturday's Doctor Who on tape last night...that was amazing.Daleks v Cybermen (!!!) I can't believe they haven't done this before and I can't remember an hour of television being as much fun as this one.
The ending, naturally, was very sad.David Tennant's finest hour so far.Good luck Billie.Just don't ever go back to singing...

That was a great ending to a mediocre season - only a couple of stand-out episodes.
Tennant is fine as the Doctor, but he's no Ecclestone, and doesn't quite convince. I hope for better from the next series.

I've quite preferred him to Chris Eccleston - but I've got a feeling that's more due to the fact of me thinking he's gorgeous...
But on Saturday's episode - I was discussing it with my mates today and we were remembering the part,
"YOU WILL IDENTIFY!"
"YOU WILL IDENTIFY FIRST!"
"NO YOU WILL IDENTIFY!"
"YOU WILL IDENTIFY FIRST!"
) ) ) It just seemed like kids in a playground - but it was all very good and I'm not very annoyed with myself for not taping the first half of the story.
Okay, this is sort of taking a step back here, but I have read that the 1980's Doctor and Companion, Peter Davison & Nicola Bryant (as Peri) once posed for a photograph as James Bond and Bond Girl. Peter in a tuzedo and Nicola in a bikini.
If anyone has this image saved on their PC, I would love to see it!
Anyway, please continue with the discussions on the current Doctor.

I'm guessing I can't actually spend that? )
On another note, I've discovered that the classic series will start to be shown again on UKTVGold in January!
Really? Ooh- might have to buy myself a Top-Up TV card....
FelixLeiter ♀Staffordshire or a pubPosts: 1,286MI6 Agent
I might have to get a freeview box full stop. ) I'm fed up of having to get up and watch it downstairs at 7 in the morning! I want to watch TV in the comfort of my own room - especially as it's Doctor Who and on weekend morning's I'm really just too tired to concentrate on getting downstairs. )
Ah well- buy one with a hard disk: recently got one and it's an absolute godsend. They're superb. You can rewind what you're watching, record stuff really easily and in fantastic quality.

That sounds great! Videos take up so much space and are dead heavy.
There's talk in the BBC's in-house magazine 'Ariel' this week that CBBC are planing a new spin-off series named 'Sarah-Jane Investigates'! No word on K-9, but he's gotta be, hasn't he?

Wanna know a secret?
Freema Agyeman (who played the girl who got her brain pulled out in this week's Dr Who) is the new companion replacing Billie!
She'll be called 'Martha Jones'!
Here's the proof:

Indeed; so many great Dalek lines: 'Social interaction will cease!' and my personal favourite: 'Cybermen exterminated: Daleks are supreme!'.
