Thanks, Arthur! I don't know, though--the guy in the picture doesn't look saturnine enough to be The Master. Still, he certainly can't be any worse than Eric Roberts. I just hope they don't forget the goatee!

He is a really good actor though and the show he's famous for here (which sadly ends on tuesday) is just about the best thing on television. His build-up in Doctor Who has started with subliminal background posters, sort of like the Bad Wolf thing they did with Christopher Eccleston. It should be really interesting.

Well, no-one's sure if Mr Saxon actually is the Master, but if I had to bet on it, I'd say he was. Mr Saxon has already been mentioned in last year's Christmas special, plus last week's episode as well as the posters Arthur mentioned, plus they've even popped up in Torchwood!
And bear in mind that one of the last episodes of this series is apparently titled 'Last of the Time Lords'...

I've edited the title of this topic because, seriously folks, the whole Mr Saxon thing is still a mystery to a lot of people. Please bear this in mind!!!

When Freema Agyeman was asked by Sara Cox on Radio 1 about the return of The Master in this series, her reply was simply "Don't know what you're talking about".

Of course, that means that The Doctor isn't the only Time Lord left (but we knew that, really, didn't we? :) )

I do think John Simm is a brilliant actor though. I will be mourning Life On Mars when it ends tomorrow night, it's a cracking show.

I will also be mourning the end of Life On Mars, but I am pleased that it appears there will be a follow up (Ashes To Ashes) set in the 1980's, featuring Philip Glenister (as Gene Hunt?). Hunt is a great character wonderfully portrayed by Glenister.

Another solid episode, and a great turn from Dean Lennox-Kelly.

It's easy to sit here now and say "I knew all along", but my mum knows the guy who (used to or still does) lives with John Simm and she told me about his appearance in Doctor Who back in December.

And Freema is is already making us forget about Billie - and that's high praise !

Well Well Well, John Simm as the Master, who'd had thunk it?

I will miss Life on Mars a Lot after tomorrow.

as long as there is no Wizard of Oz moment at the end then I'll be quite happy.

She's clearly a far more intelligent character, and has had some cracking lines recently. The one that made me laugh out loud was in the series opener, when the crash helmeted alien was killed; "So is he from the Planet Zovirax or something?" Little touches like that are making her a sharp witted one indeed! :007)

I loved the way she delivered the line when the Doctor said that when she got back she could tell everyone that she'd met Shakespeare: "Yeah; and then I could get sectioned!" :D

Oooh! I have just been informed that chief (daughter) witch was also the receptionist in CR who told Bond about Dimitrios. Wasn't she blonde in that?

For some reason I like the episode a whole lot more now. I am sad.

Well Yeah, but it seems highly likely.

If he is the Master I wonder how they are going to say he came back to life?

What, since the TV movie? If he is back, I doubt they'll worry about the TV Movie plot- the main point will be how he survived the Time War I'd imagine.

That's not to say they'll be trying to erase the TV Movie from continuity, just that in the time since it's very possible that the Master simply survived in some way, as he always does.

If they stick with the fact that The Master has run out of regenerations, and is living by some other means, It does give a reason to why the Doctor can't feel any Time Lords left after the Time War. for he is no longer wholey Time Lord

    Who's late kick-off?

Football may postpone Gridlock this Saturday.

Be prepared to wait a little extra time for new Who if the football goes into, er, extra time, this weekend.

If the FA Cup semi-final between Manchester United and Watford takes more than the usual 90 minutes on Saturday, Gridlock will be shown on Saturday 21 April instead.

Football pundits predict that a postponement is unlikely though, as it's a bit of a one-sided match. We were never very good at games, so we can't confirm this.

    There's far too much football!
For those of us who only have five channels it's terrible! At least twice a week recently there's been a football match disturbing prime time viewing! X-(

Man Utd should tank them. If it is a draw, I don't see why 'Doctor Who' should be cancelled. Why don't the Beeb cancel their new reality show, 'Any Dream Will Do' instead? Since when did Andrew Lloyd Webber become a vital part of Saturday night entertainment?

The implication after this week's episode is that there is another Timelord out there, which seems to confirm that the Master is returning. Personally, I would have liked to have known what happened to Susan, The Doctor's grand-daughter. It would be interesting if the new series touched on that story at some point.

Not the best Dalek episode ever, but it wasn't bad. I quite enjoyed the dancing. :D
I'm interested on what that ending means. Would they really dare permanently change the Daleks as we know and love them?
On the next time trailer, I quite like the look of
    all the explosions. :v

    No, but very good none-the-less.

The only thing that spoiled it for me was what the Dalek evolved into :(

Didn't much care for that look either. And the storyline was a little too similar to the cyber-men episode from last season, (homeless people being turned into monsters), but relocated to New York. That said, the idea of the Daleks building the Empire State Building was great.

Indeed, it looked like something from a 1960's episode of Lost In Space. I wasn't all that keen on the pig slaves either. Nevertheless, it was still one of the better episodes of recent times.

I really liked the atmosphere of that episode. It just seemed dark and foreboding, as if there was an impending sense of doom. I suppose that not only fitted the great depression-theme, but the evolution of the daleks too.

Likewise though, not enthralled by the human-dalek, but an interesting angle nonetheless.

No it just feels like a great idea thrown away - the special effects budget must have been almost used up ;)

Looking forward to the 2008 season, and the word in the newspapers is that Australian singer Kylie Minogue is set to star as a "Cyberwoman" in the next Christmas Special.
Filming is set for July 2007.

Kylie to take on Dr Who
    April 23, 2007 - 6:43AM

Kylie Minogue is reportedly set to return to the small screen as a cyberwoman out to snare Dr Who on the British television show's Christmas special.

The News of the World said filming would start in July on the Dr Who special which could revive the Australian pop singer's TV career.

"Kylie jumped at the chance to be in the show and is really looking forward to acting again," the newspaper quoted an unnamed BBC insider as saying.

Minogue made her name as Charlene in Neighbours before leaving the Australian soap in 1987 to concentrate on her pop career in the UK.

In recent years, Minogue made a brief return to her television roots when she guest-starred in the popular Australian comedy series, Kath and Kim.

Far from the suburban adventures of Kath and Kim, Dr Who is a science fiction series depicting the adventures of the Doctor, who travels through time in a phone box known as the Tardis and fights foes, the most famous of which are the daleks and the cybermen.

In 2005, the BBC resurrected the series, which originally ran from 1963 to 1989.

Former teen pop star Billie Piper featured as Dr Who's companion, Rose Tyler, in the revived series but has since left the popular show.

I'm just wondering if Kylie Minogue is going to be wearing part of her new swimwear range when she's a Cyberwoman? Could be a good cross promotion... or not.

My local comic book store has "Blood Of The Daleks" Audio CDs Part 1 and 2 for sale at $35 each.
I have a vast range of the DVDs, spread over different Doctors, but I don't have any of the CDs.
Are they worth buying? Is Blood Of The Daleks worth buying?
I have Doctor Who The Movie (1996) on DVD, starring Paul McGann as the Doctor, and I thought it was... okay.
I have seen Blood Of The Daleks advertised lately, and I have thought more than twice about picking it up.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Actually, yeah- Blood of the Daleks was pretty decent. It was the start of a new radio series on the BBC over here a few months back with a new companion for the Doctor and was good fun. I especially recommend 'Human Resources' from the same series too with the Cybermen; that one's very good. Otherwise, quite a few of the old CDs are worth picking up, although it did go downhill for a while so it's worth doing some research into which are good ones. I enjoyed 'Memory Lane' which was a fairly recent one.
