Time Delay
Doctor Who takes time out as Scooch Fly The Flag.
He may have thwarted the Daleks last week, but the Doctor has finally met his match with the Eurovision Song Contest.
After some severe spreadsheet shuffling in Scheduling (try saying that fast) it's been decided that an early start for episode seven, Chris Chibnall's 42, wasn't a good idea.
The episode will now be shown a week later, on Saturday 19 May.
42 sees former EastEnder Michelle Collins making her Doctor Who debut as McConnell, the strong willed captain of a doomed spaceship hurtling out of control towards a boiling sun. With only 42 minutes to uncover the saboteurs, and with a mysterious force starting to possess the ship's crew, the Doctor and Martha are running out of time!
We hope you'll support Scooch in their bid for Eurovision glory, and appreciate that seven days is only a handfull of heartbeats to a Time Lord.
Please don't email the website about this, as we want 42 to be on as much as you do. There is, however, a Feedback page on the BBC website if you feel the need to comment. Follow the link below to learn more.
Meanwhile, we're exploring other options to keep you amused on the 12th if Eurovision really isn't your thing.
These things are really annoying me lately. Hardly anything's on because of the football, and there's no Doctor Who at the end of a week, that's full of exams for me.
That's quite annoying. I honestly don't know why they bother showing the Eurovision song contest. It really is the naffest thing in the entire world. ?:)

Does anyone know when the new season (Tennant's third season) is going to start screening in Australia?
I emailed the ABC a week ago, but they have not replied.
The Runaway Bride DVD is going to be available here in Australia on 4th July, so I would suspect that the season would begin before then.

The fan club reckons the Runaway Bride will be aired on the 28th of June; but that's not confirmed just yet.
Good grief! The Sun is reporting that Woody Allen has been approached to play Einstien in an episode of 'Doctor Who.'
FILM legend Woody Allen is being lined up for a starring role — in the Christmas special of DOCTOR WHO.
Show bosses have made an astonishing approach to the geeky Oscar-winning American director and actor.
An insider on the BBC1 sci-fi hit said: “Producers are going all out for big names.
“Kylie confirmed last week, now Woody Allen’s in the frame.
“They want him to play Albert Einstein. They chose Einstein because they want historical figures in the special. Einstein’s also linked with Dr Who themes, like time travel.”
Allen, 71, who writes and directs all his movies, first appeared on US TV in 1950.
The New Yorker, behind 1970s film greats Annie Hall, Manhattan and time-travel comedy Sleeper, made his latest two films in Britain, leading BBC bosses to hope he’ll return.
He’d line up with Doctor Who David Tennant, 36. Ironically, Tennant is making a film about Einstein due out next year.
I think that really is a mad rumour. Kylie I can buy; Einstein I can't.
Although, did you know that they approached Hugh Grant to play the Doctor? He's actually said he regretted not taking it. JK Rowling's turned it down too- so they're not afraid of big names.
After last week's particularly weak outing (perhaps I'm biased as I absolutely cannot stand Michelle Collins) tonight's was particularly enjoyable! Martha is quite a powerful character, I'm enjoying her! But a tad creepy with growing suspense. Next week's Part 2 looks particularly weird - babies?? The Doctor, a family?

WHAT?! WHAT?! WHAT?! Damn - I knew it was stupid to dare not to watch the next time lol. )
I agree tonight's episode was far more enjoyable than last week's. I was hooked and the story pulled me in so that now there's no way I could look away without next week seeing if my suspicions are correct. Though I have the rather distressing feeling I might be going caravanning, so will have to set the tape recorder.
Easily the best episode of the season so far. The trailer for next week looks fascinating. It seems like its going to be a huge episode in terms of the story arc. There have been hints at something big building up all season. Actually, perhaps since the new version of Doctor Who started. I loved how the gifted boy, who seems to have second sight, briefly appeared in the first episode of this season and it was reshown tonight, so that now you understand why. Excellent stuff.
I'm working my way through Season 2 of 'Remington Steele.' The mighty fourth Doctor, Tom Baker turns up in one episode as a disgraced Interpol agent. His character is booked into a cheap motel under the psuedonym often used by The Doctor, John Smith. A nice touch, I thought.

No, he didn't...?
You're right ;%. I just looked over the episodes set in Martha's time and nothing like that happens. I was sure that this kid had turned up earlier. The only thing I can think of is that I saw a preview for the whole season and my memory thought it was part of an episode. Or, I have the gift of second sight myself and predicted what was going to happen.
ps. Anybody outside the UK, who can't wait to watch Season 3 can find the episodes on Youtube.

Though only for about a day cus then theBBC start snooping round lol.
I know there will be plenty of disagreement, but I thoroughly enjoyed tonight's Blink episode. One of the strongest of the season so far.
No disagreemant here, Pred.
By far the best episode of the current series - for my money Steven Moffatt writes the best Doctor Who scripts/episodes by a mile - his are constantly the best and most off-beat.
Nor any disagreement here. Outstanding. I wish Steven Moffat wrote every episode. I suspect there are quite a few children and maybe some adults too, who didn't sleep too well last night. This was perfect Doctor Who. Witty, chilling and moving. It had the best line in the series yet, "Somebody nicked my motor." And please can we see more of Sally Sparrow. She was rather good.

I asmit I was rather worried when I heard this episode would be 'Doctor-lite', as I didn't enjoy last year's Love and Monsters very much. But Blink really was fantastic and in parts I was genuinely frightened so I agree there will have been some restless nights out there.
The Master was never as evil and ruthless as that when I was I growing up. He was all comic book, moustache twirling and muhuhahahaha. Derek Jacobi, a fine actor at the best of times, but I do like John Simm and the new regeneration seems to fit perfectly.
Nice little twist at the end there, but if The Master had used up his lives come the Fox one-off movie, how has he suddenly got more regenerations? I expect whatever the excuse is, it'll keep the Doctor alive on our TV for decades to come...

Once again, a strong episode - it's good to see the Master return, and Capt. Jack - it's always good when he's about.
Also nice to see is how the episodes link together, it just tells you how much thought and care is put into this show.
Looking forward to next week
That was a better episode than I expected. The Radio Times had described it as a clunker. I thought it worked pretty well. However, I'm not sure about John Simm as The Master. He's a little too ordinary, for a character who's always been fairly extraordinary.

Yes I thought the Master was rather ruthless. Lots of screaming at the telly from me and my little brother...
"wooooooooo! It's Captain Jack!...no haha! he can't die!...no no no! the bad guys are there!... send jack in! send jack in!... jack!!!... stop him! stop him! it's the master! he's a bad guy!... jack's stuck! the futurekind are gonna get him!... no! he's gonna steal the TARDIS! NO! The doctor needs his TARDIS! They're gonna be stuck!...NO YOU CAN'T END THERE!!!!!"
lol )
we enjoyed the episode.
most things sorted out. except i don't think the fact the doctor knew jack couldn't die, was an acceptable reason for leaving him behind before. the doctor didn't know he'd be able to leave there. apart from that, next week looks great!.
Well, 'Utopia' was salvaged by the last parts, imho, which were superbly done. Derek Jacobi's performance was extraordinary and he would have made a great, full-time Master. John Simm seemed a bit hammy in that brief regeneration scene but I can't really judge based on that. Still, I love the build up and the Doctor's rage when he begins to realise who Professor Yana is.
I found the rest uninteresting though, really- a bit of a generic 'corridor runner' style episode. Those sort of things are the reason I dislike sci-fi as a rule (Doctor Who is the only sci-fi show which appeals that I've seen). Honestly though, I think this was a filler to build up and reintroduce the Master and on that basis, it succeeded.

Last night was fantastic! Though the ending was a huge cliffhanger, for me it somehow just didn't seem to live up to the rest of the episode. I haven't worked out how yet, but it did seem to let me down somehow. )
Otherwise - the Master was so evil! :v Brilliant! My friends and I barely noticed how little of our soon cold pasta we were eating - we were far too busy, staring at the screen.
I am starting to feel sorry for Captain Jack. He can't die so he just seems to suffer more pain than most other people. He ain't half brave. :x
Really, just love the Master being so so very very evil! :v
Relax darling, I'm on top of the situation -{

A great episode.
I also found it ironic that, for that episode at least, the Master and the Doctor's roles had changed - the Master was having tremendous fun (and jellybabies) whilst the Doctor was very serious - good stuff.
It really was. John Simm was clearly having fun with The Master. Bet you Tony's kicking himself he didn't think of that trick for his last cabinet meeting )

Mind you, The Doctor and Woody have much in common. Both are ancient, but like to keep company with much younger women.
Although, did you know that they approached Hugh Grant to play the Doctor? He's actually said he regretted not taking it. JK Rowling's turned it down too- so they're not afraid of big names.

It's from a seller located just outside of Geelong, here in Australia.
Unfortunately though, he cannot transport this TARDIS across time and space in the matter of seconds (I think the Eye must be broken).
Seriously though, if I had a spare $2,600 I would consider buying it, or at least getting the blueprints off this guy so I can create my own!

I also note that Tony Blair is stepping down the week after next - i.e just as Mr Saxon takes over the Premiership. Coincidence? I don't think so!

I have a very bad feeling about the Tardis, but only another 6 days to wait until we reach the series resolution ...
