Whilst the new Doctor Who is good (Eccleston is still my favourite), for those who love classic Doctor Who instead, here's a treat. I just interviewed Louise Jameson, and you can read it all here at my blog: http://manuelbouw.blogspot.com/2010/06/interview-with-louise-jameson.html
There are some rather interesting responses from Louise, especially about her time on EastEnders...

Steven Moffat is doing OK, but this season seems a bit bland and not quite the clean break advertised in "The Eleventh Hour", despite the toning down of the cheese and the tightening of the writing.
'Alright guard, begin the unnecessarily slow moving dipping mechanism...'
OK just found this thread because I foolishly made a thread on this topic and a Mod closed it and sent me the link for this one. Favourite classic and new seris episode?
Classic Series: "Inferno" or "Seeds Of Doom"
New Series: "Dalek"
What a pity that the first four series of the revived show was let down by several episodes written by Russel T Davies. Never mind, at least we don't have to worry about him for now.

My friend is a huge fan of David Tennant. She insits that RTD is a genius but a lot of his stories were hit and miss.
Great news, I'm going to be interviewing Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred at the Armageddon Expo in Melbourne, on October 16th.
Very happy!!!
McCoy was an amazing Doctor. Not my fave by far (that goes to Tom Baker). Could you let us know if that interview makes it onto your blogg? I really liked the interview with Louise Jameson. An amazing actress and Leela was just so....sexy.
I have to say my favourite classic story goes to The Talons of Weng Chiang (even with the authentic racism) and closely follwed by The Horror of Fang Rock. They seem to have made them better in thos days even on a shoetring budget.
Wow, a real bolt from the blue: long term Doctor Who starlet, Elisabeth Sladen, has passed away from cancer at the age of 63. Much more left-field and random than Leslie Nielsen passing, and at 63 and looking quite good I'd expected Sladen to have had a viable acting career for easily another 15 to 20 years; this is as hard to take in as Heath Ledger dying suddenly. And phone interview by RTD.

Has anyone seen the second part of the season opener yet? All I can say is that I want to be River Song when I grew up (even with her fate in Silence in the Library).
All of my female friends swooned for Rory in this last episode and cracked up about Mark Sheppard's would-be spouse.
Flattery will get you nowhere, but don't stop trying.

Yes I have....I love this Steven Moffat era....the stories are clever (they all may not make perfect sense, but what tv show/film does ? )
Certainly a 'dark start' as promised by Moffat....especially with the Doctor being killed in the first episode....and Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) just gets hotter and hotter :x
The writing gets better too - and that takes some do-ing....there are some fabulous exchanges of banter....
Tracy....if you do grow up to be River Song, give me a call - we men do so love a bad girl
I'm looking forward to the rest of this series...it's just a pity the series is split into two
Oh - and Matt Smith just gets better and better too....

Love Moffat's sense of timing - it's fascinating to see a "younger" version of 11 compared to the brief glimpse we see in the premiere; Smith has this distinctive way of moving around the TARDIS that's delightfully kooky. There are some amazingly subtle breadcrumbs being dropped that change the way you view earlier episodes - the Curse of the Black Spot, for example, has some really interesting parallels to the plot device in Girl in the Fireplace, and the mysterious shadows that weren't caused by anything visible onscreen in the Silence in the Library 2 parter can now be attributed to the silence. Also, Rose being posessed by the heart of the dialogue at the end of season 1 suddenly makes more sense ("My doctor!") after we see the TARDIS personified in the last episode.
Professor Song needs to come back soon and school us all in proper technique
I think there are two more episodes before the mid season break? The next 2 episodes are a two parter, if I remember correctly.
Flattery will get you nowhere, but don't stop trying.
Well I thought the first two episodes were certainly very good, but confusing! I'm waiting to see what will happen about the Doctor's death, how will they stop that happening? Who even was it that killed him in that space suit, and why did they come out of a lake?! And what about this daughter plot, that's a bit weird isn't it!
The pirate episode was terrible, but the house episode last week more than made up for it, loved that one! This week, good but not as good!
Who are the Silence? We're not seen the last of them have we? What are they going to do? The shadows in Silence in the Library were caused by the tiny bugs that at people rather than the silence weren't they?
So is Amy pregnant with the doctor's daughter? If not where did the doctor's daughter come from and why is he so interested in whether she is pregnant or not?!
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and everyone dies.

ZOMG didn't think of that (lol sorry for the ZOMG, I just watched the Satin Pit episode from Series 2 or 3 and I'm a bit psyched about Dr Who consequently!), but would the ganger have the ability to regenerate? And why did he bother inviting them to watch? My general feeling is that that is an event which must be prevented, otherwise he wouldn't have made them witness it!
Edit: I'm not going to correct that typo... The Satin Pit?! Really Jedi Master, how embarrassing!!!
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and everyone dies.
Most of the last few episodes Doctor Who have been excellent, but Moffat is starting to bite to off more than he could chew with his River Song character. Torchwood was OK-ish, but tread water a lot.

This series of Dr Who has been the most consistent for my money...the episodes just get better - bar last Saturday's which just seemed a 'scene setter' episode for th efinal two - and the dialogue is superb....Moffat is an excellent writer and a great planner for this series...he's really pushed the show on after Davies left...
I enjoyed Torchwood...didn't watch the series before this one though....it was a little 'convienient' at times how some things happened...but I thought it was a good story idea and an enjoyable series...
I reserve judgement until this season concludes, but so-far I prefer the current run of episodes in comparison to Matt Smith's first series and the last year or so of David Tennnant.
'Alright guard, begin the unnecessarily slow moving dipping mechanism...'
It's certanly been an impressive year. I have to admit though that I still miss David Tennant. Don't get me wrong, Matt Smith is excellent, but I was a huge Tennant fan. I've watched Doctor Who since The Hand of Fear in 1975 so suffered the 16 year gap so I lap up all new Doctor Who. Doesn't mean there hasn't been duff episodes since 2005 though, Love and Monsters and Fear her immediately spring to mind.
By the way, if you've not been to The Doctor Who experience in London yet, do go, it's brilliant. Plus there is a massive spoiler about the future of the Daleks - could mean that the new multi coloured teletubby Daleks days are numbered - thank god!
Here's a couple of pics of me with a Dalek and on the Tennant Tardis set.

This week's episode:
Amy: Shall we go back in time and help Scotland qualify for the World Cup?
The Doctor: Don't be ridiculous!!
Roger Moore 1927-2017
I would prefer,
Amy: Shall we go back in time and stop England winning the World Cup?
The Doctor: Absolutely, that ball never crossed the line.
Classic Series: "Inferno" or "Seeds Of Doom"
New Series: "Dalek"

New: Rose

Like watching men playing with odd shaped balls do you Tracy ? )
Pshaw - if I had a TARDIS, I could've watched the premiere yesterday! ) But yes, on both sides of the pond we'll have to wait until April 23
There really needs to be a "don't drink while reading this" smiley face. I'd say I prefer watching River Song exterminate funny looking hats
