    I was a huge Matt Smith fan so it's hard - harder than I expected - to warm to Peter Capaldi. I find him rather dull and charisma-free, I'm afraid. The most interesting aspect of the new series are the 'heaven' interludes. Very intriguing.

    I don't think Jenna Coleman is a natural fit next to Capaldi's Doctor. I think her 'alleged' departure is a good thing for the show. She is fine in the role but recasting the companion might help the personality dynamic between the Doctor and the companion. I wouldn't be that surprised if Capaldi is a one series Doctor only but the ratings and general fanbase reaction will determine his fate.

    Interesting comments. Do you say you won't be surprised if Capaldi is a one series doctor because this may be for plot reasons, because Capaldi doesn't want to commit, or because of an adverse fan reaction from the "younger" demographic?

    Myself, I won't be surprised if the rumours about Jenna leaving at Christmas are true...

    So far it seems like Capaldi is kind of a cross between William Hartnell and Tom Baker--cranky, impatient, and constantly sticking himself into the middle of things. Enjoyable, but he still needs to break free and find himself.

    Watching the Dr Who Extra, it was fun to see Peter Capaldi. Being interviewed
    and pointing out that he came in early for filming as they were setting up a
    Big Dalek sequence. :)) and he's been a fan since he was a kid. :D

    Just watched Robot of Sherwood, enjoyable if light hearted episode from Mark Gatiss. Good to see Capaldi getting into his stride!

    Next weeks looks to be a return to darkness!

    Can't argue with that ! Plenty of good 'banter' - even if the Doctor 'doesn't do banter' - this episode was obviously written by someone who loves Who -{

    Mark Gatiss really is under-appreciated !

    Just watched the Sherwood episode--a lot of fun, with a typical Whovian setup: a historical background (Jenna Coleman in period clothes--oh yes!) with a goofy sci-fi twist. Capaldi is indeed getting more comfortable in the role, and I'm liking him more and more. Still, I really think that when the black knight had his arm cut off, he should have said, "It's only a flesh wound!"

    I'm loving the Doctor's Banter ( even if he doesn't ), perhaps a little
    Too grumpy at times {:) , but I'm sure he's still smoothing out his
    Characterisation. -{

    I have been enjoying the episodes greatly, even though I miss Matt Smith a lot.
    I am pleased they selected someone very different to the 11th and 10th doctor, someone older then the series itself!

    Its nice to BE back TP!
    Been very busy lately, in May I popped over to England actually for a nice holiday. Saw the Bond-in-motion exhibit which I really enjoyed and also went to Glen Etive, where parts of Skyfall was shot.

    Watched it with my son - he announced it was the worst episode he had ever watched !!

    I quite liked it...but it was a clever episode rather than being a good one...almost like it was thrown away to set the rest of the series up....

    I agree very clever but for me at least at times quite emotional. :)
    and P Capaldi is so good at those throw away comedy Lines.

    I liked it, though I found the big "reveal" at the end a bit cheesy--and not the kind of cheese from the '60s and '70s, where you could see the zipper on the monster's back!

    Right back to being a ten year old again ! :)) there's not many shows that can do
    That. -{

    Bill Nighy was on Radio 2 yesterday and he confirmed that he turned down the role of the Doctor - but wouldn't say when ! Definitely after the reboot though...

    Wasn't the original tale that Nighy was offered Who for the reboot, then his role in LOVE ACTUALLY was a major element of its financial and critical success, and so he decided riffing Billy Mac for a career was better than taking a chance on an olde BBC kids series that had been canned in the 80s and still-born on an attempted realuach in 1996?

    Not sure about that - but it was the first time ever he'd admitted he'd been offered the role...

    I think in many ways Dr Who is TV's Bond, so many actors seem to have been
    Offered the part, Brian Blessed said in an interview he was offered it but turned
    It down because at the time he had too much work on, it went to Patrick Troughton.

    Thinking about it having " The Architect " on Dr Who, isn' t that
    another Freemason symbol ? Where's Always Shaken, when you
    Need him ? :))

    I liked the episode--it sort of brought to mind some of the Tom Baker serials, with the characters all running around corridors (usually the same set shot over and over again) with a terrifying-but-misunderstood monster in pursuit. Good stuff!
