A problem I have with these episodes, and tonight's was a good example, is that the script is written like it's some snappy screwball comedy, but the director doesn't have comic chops and the music is so all intrusive I find it hard to hear what they are saying, it's like they are working against each other.
I feel like the new Who just hasn't found his feet yet, it should be there but somehow isn't.
To be honest, I've read in a couple of interviews Capaldi has said
Something similar, that he still hasn't nailed it the way he wants.
Although I still think he could be one of the best,. -{

Best episode from Capaldi so far...good story, good banter...more like this please -{
Fun episode. A mummy chasing people around the Orient-Express-in-Space. . .has a definite Tom Baker vibe, then changes gear with a neat reveal. And Coleman in a flapper dress. . .words fail me. . .
Just watched it :x loved every bit of it, Capaldi really is my favourite Dr. {[]
Great story, plenty of humour, tension and excitement. -{
With some nice little touches, the Jelly Babies, " The " are you my mummy"
Line ( from the old Chris Eccleston episode ) and if I'm not mistaken did
Peter Capaldi do a Tom Baker impression when talking to himself ? )
As for Characters, (This is only a guess) but I think we'll see more of Frank
Skinner as the villain wasn't revealed ? :v
Forgot to add I loved the line near the end when the Dr says something about...
" Sometimes all the choices you have are bad ones !"
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
Yes excellent episode, PC really owns the part now. TP, I also picked up on the Baker impersonation when he was talking to himself. Clara's return to the Tardis also suggests to me she is toast come season finale...
Japanese proverb say, "Bird never make nest in bare tree".
Before Peter Capaldi, I'd watch Dr Who but if I missed an episode
Or two, I wasn't too annoyed ( That was the Matt Smith years, although
I liked him as well ) Now. I'm looking forward to each episode and thankfully
With the BBC i-player I can catch up the next morning.
Capaldi for me has brought back the enthusiasm of my childhood ) I can
See myself starting to source similar clothes and a pair of DM boots to look
The part ! )
As a teen ( even in the summer ) I had a long overcoat and scarf. )
I was a odd child ! )

While some of the writing hasn't been of the best and some of the stories quite perfunctory, it is quite clear Capaldi has nailed Who, even in such a short time, in away none of his immediate predecessors have.
Makes me wonder that to make Who a true character rather than a drippy, temperamental young man needs the gravitas only a long career's acting experience can bring. Seems odd that the two other "great" takes on WHO in the recent past, Paul McGann and John Hurt in the 50th Aniv stuff, were both similarly mature?

I wouldn't agree with that...Smith had the Doctor from the very first episode...as did Eccelston...I'm warming to Capaldi...but he needs better stories...
Another great episode -{ really creepy/scary villains {[] very well done !
Anyone else notice the DR's haircut about two thirds in, then back to normal
For the ending ? I guess he was called back for some reshooting.

On the Horror channel ( UK TV) they are showing Dr Who:The Carnival of Monsters.
I remember this from my childhood and along with the episode with the giant
Maggots, scared the crap out off me ! )
Although looking at it now the special effects are pants I'll still watch it though {[]

Last night's story was a fun episode, with the earth itself protecting us
Selfish humans. Seeing London as an overgrown forest was different.
Really looking forward to next weeks.

Yes interesting idea, just not so well executed! Ok London was full of trees but bereft of people?? Capaldi shone again though as he has all season.
Next week is start of the 2 part finale (part of which I saw being shot in Cardiff) and it looks a good one.
I remember seeing Capaldi summing up the season before it began when he was promoting the series in Australia with these words: "trust no one" -wondering if the trailer for next weeks episode was starting to reveal some details of that???

Dark Water pt 1, another creepy episode, I'm sure very scary for
Younger viewers. Nice little surprise at the end -{ looking
Forward to next weeks show. {[]

Yes...another of the better episodes...next weeks should be good...
I liked this episode--especially the little "nods" to the past, like the Cybermen leaving their "tombs" and marching down the steps of St. Paul's. And Missy. . .well, I kept expecting to find out she was actually The Rani, but what was revealed. . .hmmmm. . .
Good episode, nice reveal of the villain too, though I heard rumours sometime back that was how it would pan out, so it spoilt the surprise a bit for me.
Obvious talking point now is that this opens the way for a female Doctor!

but caught the beginning of Saturday nights episode.
I can't believe how scary the mummy was! I love that kind of thing but I seriously have to consider letting a young child watch it!
I know Who has always been dark and scary ( I still dream of massive maggots ) but blimey, it's gone to a different level !
May have to start watching again )

As long as they don't get the bright idea of turning Bond female I'll sleep easily at night! ) -{
Expression. ) so we sorta,kinda have had a female Dr.
So for Dr Who it's a case of "Been there, done that, got the t-shirt (and bra)." )
Ah yes, the DoctorDonna! I'd forgotten that!
Named, I understand after the delicacies on offer in my local chippy lane in Cardiff, as once you've had the Donna, you need the Doctor!
Sounds like my local Donna too !
The BBC has defended the dark themes of its most recent Doctor Who storyline after complaints from some viewers.
It would seem some viewers have forgotten Dr Who is Supposed to be Scary !!!!! 8-)
