Joe Robinson is a great guy to chat to!! BUT I don't think he signs TTM. He's really only just started going to conventions. Never heard of anyone getting him TTM or for that matter anybody having an address for him. Maybe someone has.
To the person who said "Earl Cameron was great as President Zuwanie". Ok, I have a confession to make I'm Earl Cameron's son. Bet you thought I was going give you a hard time, LOL! I told him you thought he was great and he was very happy to hear that.
Here's a treat for you. Here's part of an article I wrote:
Quote (from me):
So far I haven't seen a bad comment or review about [my father', Earl Cameron's] acting. This is all the more impressive in that my father is approaching 90 years of age (and still looking forward to his next role!), and because, as he tells me, he was physically unwell during the whole time he was in New York.
After Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn, my dad seems to have been mentioned favorably more often than the others.
The Irish Times even singles out his performance as second only to Nicole Kidman's, describing it as "arresting", and saying that he "invests the Zuwanie character with depth and credibility".
The Chicago Tribune singles out Kidman, Penn and my father's performances as "top notch".
The Observer refers to my father as "that fine Carribean actor."
The Star Tribune says three of the supporting actors, including my dad, were "outstanding."
ntlworld.com and uk.movies.yahoo.com says: "Earl Cameron and Catherine Keener support Kidman and Penn - whose chemistry is superb - admirably."
Movie-vault.com says he "convincingly" played the part of Dr. Zuwanie, and The Hollywood Reporter and AOL news both say he and Catherine Keener made "deft impressions".
Finally the Boston Herald says my father's "resemblance to Nelson Mandela should not go unnoticed." Whether or not that is true, was that a nudge, "nudge, wink, wink, say no more" to some Hollywood producers?
I also read a comment--on a James Bond movie site--written by a movie buff who said he'd just been to see the Interpreter and "EARL CAMERON IS GREAT AS PRESIDENT ZUWANIE !!!" In fact that was all he said about the movie--good or bad.
And indeed, the consensus among most people, it seems, is that this is a movie worth seeing.
Simon Cameron! Your father is a wonderful man. I met him recently, as did probably several people on the forum. He was such a gentleman, and obviously very pleased and flattered to have so much interest in him at the show.
I am seeing The Interpreter tonight, and am looking forward to it soley to see Earl..not Sean and Nicole.....Earl.
I belive that it must have been your mother who accompanied Earl at the NEC. She had a permanent smile on her face - it was lovely to see.
I hope to see Earl in mnay more movies to come....he's certainly one of the nicest and most genuine people I've met at these shows....a real pleasure and honour to have met him
Fleming, Thank for that very moving tribute to my father. I can assure you that he really is every bit as genuine as you found him--you summed him up well. He's my father so I guess it's easy for me to wax lyrical about his virtues, but, with him, what you see really is what you get. And he's a man of great integrity and wisdom to boot.
That lady may have been my stepmother, Barbara. My mother passed away in 1994. My mother, Audrey, was English/Russian/Polish. She and my father met in repertory theatre. She gave up her career to concentrate on his. As you probably know, it's very hard to make it in acting, however well you act. So much competition. My father was luckier than most, so that gives one an idea how hard it is to succeed.
You know he's been in the business longer than almost anyone alive. He actually worked with Vivien Leigh before she did Gone with the Wind.
My father loved working with Sydney Pollack, by the way, and got on extremely well with him. He also got on well with Nicole.
As for other stars, he says Sean Connery is a very nice guy offscreen and very popular with everyone (he did Thunderball and Cuba with Sean). One day my father was walking past Harrods, and Sean, who was out driving, saw my father and stopped to offer him a ride to wherever my father wanted to go. Tnat was Sean Connery.
He wasn't so keen to work with the late Dirk Bogarde. Richard Attenborough he got on well with. Mia Farrow too. Lois Maxwell and Virginia Mckenna too. Burt Lancaster was great to work with. He also worked with Rod Steiger, whose daughter with Claire Bloom, Anna, and I were at school together. Donald Sutherland was friendly too if a little too much of a party animal for my father's conservative tastes.
He greatly liked and admired the late Robert Shaw (who was in 2 Bond movies including DAF, and also The Taking of Pelham 123 etc.) too for his acting talent and said he was very much underrated; he should have been a bigger star than he was.
Anyway I'm rambling and taking over this thread which is meent to be about autographs. You guys have a great site here. You're obviously people who are well up on the movie scene. Thanks again for the thumbs up.
