I was fortunate enough to meet a couple of Bond-related stars at an event for my *other* favorite film series a few weeks ago, so here are a couple of photos of me with Julian Glover and Jeremy Bulloch at Star Wars Celebration V. I did get their autographs as well, but decided to get them to sign Star Wars photos since that's the event I was at.....

    Jeremy Bulloch:
    http://jaash.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=98775788

    Julian Glover:
    http://jaash.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=98775789

Both Mr. Bulloch and Mr. Glover were absolutely wonderful, and they both spent several minutes talking to me about their work on both the Star Wars and Bond films (as well as Indiana Jones for Mr. Glover). This was my first time attending any sort of event like this, and I'm thrilled to say that everyone I had the opportunity to meet was gracious and friendly....even the "big" stars like Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.

I've commented on their authenticity on your other post - Judi Dench is great at signing through the mail.

Not a difficult one to get hold of as Bondstars.com sell him.
    Received Douglas Wilmer's TTM today.
Always nice to get it personalised in my opinion.
Disappointed he didn't answer any of my questions or write a note though. I don't think I've got this TTM down to an art yet!

I also received Patrick Macnee's TTM (paid $15) over a month ago after quite a few months wait.
I was also lucky to get 2 from Jimmy Dean earlier this year before he passed away.

Hi, everyone. New to the site and hopefully this the correct place to post this.

I've just taken up collecting autographs TTM and I had a few questions:

    1) Is there any point in sending to Dalton or Lazenby? I've heard that Lazenby is difficult and Dalton is just about impossible.

    2) Who are some people that you would you recommend I send to first? For example, I've heard that Judi Dench is a great TTM signer.

    3) Are there any actors/actresses that charge fees or ask for donations? I know that many athletes, so I assume it would be the same with actors.

    4) Are there any other non-Bond related actors/musicians etc. that I should go after?

    5) Any other tips?

    Thanks. :)

No, there is no point at all - not unless you want a pre-print from Dalton & nothing from Lazenby.

    2) Who are some people that you would you recommend I send to first? For example, I've heard that Judi Dench is a great TTM signer.

Judi Dench, Joanna Lumley & Burt Kwouk - they are all fantastic TTM signers & don't take too long to reply either!

    3) Are there any actors/actresses that charge fees or ask for donations? I know that many athletes, so I assume it would be the same with actors.

Roger Moore sometimes signs, but the majority of the time he asks you to buy from Bondstars who sell his autographs & the proceeds go to UNICEF. Tanya Roberts, Jane Seymour ask for donations as do a few others who's names escape me.

    4) Are there any other non-Bond related actors/musicians etc. that I should go after?

That's up to you - it's very much a personal decision.

    5) Any other tips?

Always send an SAE with any TTM request & a photo to sign.

Let me put extra emphasis on the sending a Self Addressed + Stamped Envelope, as well as an item for them to sign.

A good deal of celebrities will just sent you a preprint or secretarial autograph if you don't include an item (see: Bill Cosby, Tim Allen).

A good deal of them will use a secretary, even if you include an item. It's always good to do comparisons between TTM examples and their IP (in person) example. Big-namers are almost always secretarials. If you have any questions about people you want to send mail to, just post their names and I can tell you what they send.

Not necessarily, just because you don't include a photo doesn't mean that you will get a pre-print or secreterial. Some actors/actresses have & provide their own photos, but this is unknown until you actually write to them.

Only the current active actors/actresses or those who are very old & have health problems will have a secretary sign on their behalf, but this is now becoming more common for TTM's to be secreterial, certainly as I said with the bigger stars.

I know. That's why i said "a good deal of", not "all".

I don't like your attitude & consider it to be offensive.

    Quit it.

    Why is that offensive?

What could possibly be offensive about what I posted? It wasn't intended to be snippy or anything. Your response to me made it seem like my post wasn't worded correctly, so I was clarifying what I meant. I've been collecting autographs for 12 years and would like to think that I have a firm grasp on the hobby. I even told the poster before me that I'd help them determine whether or not the person they want to send a request to would send an authentic or not. I'm just trying to be helpful, not "offensive".

There is no difference between how I am online and in person, so I'm just being me. I like to be clear with the things I am trying to tell people, so when it doesn't seem like the message I'm conveying is registering, I explain myself.

    No harm, no foul.
  • Tilly Masterson 007Tilly Masterson 007 UKPosts: 1,472MI6 Agent
Very well, but like you said, to me it was just the way you came across & know only now that you didn't mean to be offensive or anything. That got me a bit, but perhaps 'offensive' wasn't the right choice of words to have used. 8-)

    Anyway, I'll forget about all that now. -{

Thanks very much. I will definitely be sending a request to Judi Dench.

Any idea what Jane Seymour charges? Cash or cheque?

    Thanks for the reply.

I was planning on sending my own items to get singed (usually an 8x10), so that shouldn't be an issue.

As for who I'm looking for, I suppose that would be main supporting cast (villains, major henchmen, Bond girls etc.) Here's a fairly lengthy list:

    David Hedison
    Julian Glover
    Robert Carlyle
    Christopher Lee
    Honor Blackman
    Sean Bean
    Alan Cumming
    Robert Davi
    Jeroem Krabbe
    Richard Kiel
    Mads Mikkelsen
    Jonathan Pryce
    Louis Jourdan
    Maryam D'Abo
    Maud Adams
    Jane Seymour
    Steven Berkoff
    Grace Jones
    Joe Don Baker
    Topol
    John Rhys-Davies
    Michael Lonsdale
    Cary Lowell
    Caroline Bliss

It's a shame that so many people from the Connery films are no longer with us.

Are there any other "big" names that are good TTM, such as Dench is?

Also, I'd heard that Craig used to sign but does not any more. Is this true?

By the way, what resource do you folks use for addresses? I know StarTiger is quite popular, but I'd rather not pay for a site subscription for what should be a (mostly) free hobby.

Thanks so much for all your help. :)

Not a problem, glad I could be of some help.

I'm not sure for certain what Jane Seymour charges but I think it is around the $15 - $20 mark, and I think it would be best to send a photo if you have a particular favourite?

Anyway, let us know how you get on with your collection building.
