These are just sort of in the order I thought of them, rather than exact order of preference, which I couldn't possibly decide if you paid me. My most favorite ones are first, but after 10 or so it gets more random. Plus there's like 60-something here - no less 'cause I can't decide what to cut, no more 'cause that's where I ran out of steam.

    Field of Dreams
    Amadeus
    The Killing Fields
    Casablanca
    The Usual Suspects
    Godfather
    Godfather II
    Goodfellas

My top 25 movies (in no particular order):

    Battle of Britain

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
    Lawrence of Arabia
    From Russia With Love
    The Dambusters
    The Green Mile
    The Great Escape
    Cry, The Beloved Country (1995)
    Zulu

    The Party
    Reach For The Sky
The Bridge on the River Kwai
    Saving Private Ryan
    Go West
    The Pink Panther (1963)

In order for a film to be included in this list, I considered not only whether it entertained me and I enjoyed it, but also whether I believe it is a well made movie, and is a quality film. Perhaps some might argue with the quality of some of my choices, but this is just my opinion.

In alphabetical order, here are the first 25 movies that pop into my head (as good a way of coming up with a top 25 as any I suppose):

    2001: A Space Odyssey
A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum
    Alien
    Apocalypse Now Redux
    Batman (1989)
    Batman Begins
    Bladerunner
    Escape From New York
    Ghostbusters
It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
    Logan's Run
Mad Max II: The Road Warrior
    Moby Dick
Once Upon A Time In The West
    Planet of the Apes (1968)
    Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
    Superman: The Movie
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
    The Spy Who Loved Me
    The Tenth Victim

I couldn't name a Top 25, as my favourites are constantly changing around. I can manage a Top 5, however, as it stands currently.

    5. Rear Window (1954)

    4. What Lies Beneath (2000)

    3. Once Upon a Time in the West (1968)

    2. Jaws (1975)

    1. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

    Here's mine:

BATMAN BEGINS The real Dark Knight has stood up...

    BATMAN (1989)

Here's the rest in no particular order:

LOVE & DEATH Love him or hate him, Woody Allen was a cinematic genius in the 70s.

ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE My absolute favorite of the 007 lot.

    THUNDERBALL

TAKE THE MONEY & RUN Classic Woody Allen hands down.

    THE BIG LEBOWSKI

SUPERMAN THE MOVIE I truly believed that a man could fly...until this summer's hacked travesty. 8-)

SUPERMAN II Arguably better than its predecessor.

STAR TREK: THE WRATH OF KHAN Made me forget about the lackluster first one...respectfully. :D

STAR TREK: THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK

THE THING (1982) Kurt Russell playing the bada$$ always works.

THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE UGLY

A CLOCKWORK ORANGE A film that gets better and better with age.

DIRTY HARRY The rebel cop formula doesn't get any better than this...sorry but it's true.

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK The most riveting in the entire franchise...or maybe that's my childhood impressions speaking.

STRANGERS ON A TRAIN Robert Walker ran away with his character if not the entire film. He out-acted everyone else involved.

    THE SHINING (1980) C'mon...it's Jack.

THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY I don't hear much praise for this masterpiece but I can honestly say that I never tire of watching it. The first film that made me aspire to visit Italy seeing that it captured its vivid beauty.

    NORTH BY NORTHWEST

    SALEM'S LOT

    THE OMEN

GOODFELLAS DeNiro, Scorcese & New York gangsters = good formula.

BLADE One of the best comic book intros I've ever seen in the genre. The bloodbath at the beginning was simply cool. Snipes fit this part like a glove.

    One honorable mention goes to:

ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA: Sergio Leone made what I consider to be a mesmerizing gangster flick. The musical score alone was simply beautiful. DeNiro & Woods...wow.
Mrs. Man Face: "You wouldn't hit a lady? Would you?"

Batman: "The Hammer Of Justice is UNISEX!"
-Batman: The Brave & The Bold -

I was just wondering whether 'The Maltese Falcon' was the movie of Anthony Horowitz' book 'The Falcon's Malteser' (spelling?). And also whether or not anyone know's whether the same author mimicked 'North by Northwest' movie for his boook of the same series 'South by Southeast'? All help would be appreciated, thanks.
Unfortunately having lived such a short time I haven't heard of let alone seen most of the great movies listed by others so I don't feel I would be able to give a Top 25 list. Though 'Dirty Harry' did stand out to me cus my mate showed me some of it at the weekend. We didn't have time to watch all the movie so he just showed me a couple of the good parts and now they're Clint Eastwood's voice is permenantly stuck in my head. :D
    Relax darling, I'm on top of the situation -{

Actually 'The Maltese Falcon' is based on the Dashiell Hammett novel of the same name. I recommend tht you see it. It's a brilliant film.
"He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman

I second that; it's Bogart at his finest (even though he looks nothing like the character from the book).
