Begin Again. Something must be wrong with me: RottenTomatoes and other sites are loaded with praise for this film--for its charm, its optimism, etc.--but I found it to be hackneyed and cliched, and even worse for being apparently largely ad-libbed.
Having spent the last two weeks rewatching every Bond film (except TWINE...I have two copies of it and for some unknown reason neither will play on my laptop) needed a change of pace so rewatched 11 Harrowhouse last night.
Bergen, Grodin, and Mason are so wonderful in this film, but definitely read the book first (Gerald Browne). As good as the film is, the book is 100 times better (imho).
Captain America: Winter Soldier. Just absolutely awesome. It was like LTK on superhero steroids. Marvel has earned its Licence to kill the competition. )

I never fancied it. Thought it looked a bit twee. I'm also not a fan of this 'ad-libbing' thing that seems to be increasing in popularity. I'll give it a miss.
After resisting for a long time, I finally watched The Notebook last night.
I really enjoyed it. Just a sweet, romantic bit of nonsense that required plenty of tissues by the end. Love James Garner.
Stig Helmer story 2/6 , this series is about a Swede & Norwegian that goes on various trips (Gran Canaria , Austrian alps etc.....) , anyway this goes in depth on the childhood of the Swedish guy........usually these films are semi-funny but this is just unfunny , not that I expected comedy master piece.
Per Pusling 4/6 , based on Astrid Lindgren character about a boy that shrinks to mouse-sz.
Throw momma from train 5/6 , great comedy......haven't seen it in 15-20 yrs. The grumpy mother , nuff said )
Romancing the stone 4.5/6 , this was another one I hadn't seen in 20+ yrs......classic adventure type of story.
IM watching "Hobsons choice" again, fell asleep last time, in the film the main cast Mr Hobson ,is always drinking in a pub/inn called
THE MOONRAKERS ,
Last week in the local cinema a lady with a drop of wine in her, broke her ankle
On the steps during the film ( 50 Shades) and now they have brought in searching
Bags of people entering the screen. )
Apparently the last film they had to do this at was Sex and the city.

The cinema I was in last night actually sells wine and beer now ... and its just a run of the mill cinema. Not one of the fancy ones with tables, sofas etc ...
Well our cinema at Bluewater, if you pay the extra (I always do) you sit in the gallery .There you get free nibbles ,choklit, coffee,
popcorn,if you want beer ,wine ,champagne ,ect ect ,you can take it in .The seats are very big and deep ,so you can really sink into them .I remember when it first opened the gallery seats had a little hut over them ,so you couldn't see who was ,next. behind .in front of you, the Queen could be next to you ,you wouldt know,i think they dismantled the huts ,as too much trouser action was going on ,I know ;% ;% ;% ;% )
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

Watched The Grand Budapest Hotel....great film, beautifully shot, well acted with great sets...no wonder it won awards !
Also saw Kingsman: The Secret Service....another film to enjoy...serious at times to ludicrously over the top...doesn't always get the balance right but a great romp !
Harry Potter Is A Horny Devil--I mean, Horns, starring Daniel Radcliffe. Although based on a popular novel and having a good cast, this flick didn't get much of a theatrical release, and I can see why. It's really a mess: there's a lot of great satirical potential here, but the director didn't seem to know what kind of movie he was making--comedy, horror, romance, Christian apologia? The make-up and effects are pretty bad, and the ending is laugh-out-loud hilarious. . .except it wasn't meant to be that way. Looks like Lord Voldemort finally got his revenge. . .
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. I really enjoyed the original Sin City 10+ years ago, but now I'm wondering if it was just because the look seemed so new and edgy. This sequel/prequel/going-on-at-the-same-time-as-the-first-film-quel is made by the same people, has the same look, and has much of the same cast, but it all seems flat and boring--just a lot of hard-boiled dialogue and exploding heads. But there's Eva Greene, playing her now-stock character: a heartless femme fatale who takes her clothes off a lot. Which reminds me. . .this was the third film I've seen recently--the other two are Maleficent and Horns--where Juno Temple has a role. What's made her the "It Girl" all of a sudden? OK, she's kind of cute, but she looks to me like a scared waif who's run away from a Dickensian orphanage. Maybe that's her appeal? That and the fact that, like Eva Greene, she takes her clothes off a lot?

Really enjoyed Octopussy today. Respect to Louis Jourdan for a great performance as an archetypal Bond villain. Also, Steven Berkoff (so good they played him twice ) Another perfect Sunday afternoon {[]
A fairly poor movie. Christopher Lee is a fine Holmes... or he would be if the producer hadn't made the insane decision to have another actor dub his lines in English. The film was shot in Germany, and Lee being bilingual would have been perfectly happy to do his lines twice- but he wasn't asked!
The Black Hole (1979).
Haven't seen it in years but Caught it again this morning. I love this film, although
Set in space it feels story wise like an Edgar Allan Poe story. A ghost ship full
Of robots commanded by an evil genius with a fantastic score by John Barry. -{

The cinema was choca bloc. I counted 5 guys in there . The rest were all wine drinking, middle aged females )

Unexpected if somewhat illogical brilliance. 2001 was there first, but good for the new age.
Some will simply hate it, others will love it, I don't see many being in between.
I loved it.
