Had to watch Total Recall again ,just to try to get whats left of me brain around the plot. The hero has a mobile phone inserted in the palm of his hand ,cool idea , the whole society is controlled by biometric technology , and then ,he goes and gets an old fashioned paper passport and paper cash out of the bank?? ,Now surely in 2000 years time ,we would have done away with both surely.

total recall more like total crap

A Field in England, an oh-so-arty film set during the English Civil War and filmed in black and white (clearly because they didn't have color film in the 17th century), in which a Doctor, a Soldier, a Grubby Peasant, and an Irish Alchemist go up and down the title location, digging holes and encountering things. Every now and then we even get close-up shots of male genitalia. At times I thought I was watching a Monty Python movie, except Python is funny--and makes far more sense than anything in this flick. And, of course, the ratings at RottenTomatoes are glowing. . .

If one guy getting his John Thomas examined for disease and another with it out to relieve himself is old-style porn, then it's no wonder the new stuff is so much more popular. . .

Never heard of it referred to as John Thomas. I learned something new today, but I don't think I'm going to tell anyone what I learned.

Something else to add to your education--it comes from D. H. Lawrence. Specifically Lady Chatterly's Lover.

Continuing our Leonard Nimoy retrospective, Star Trek IV, the whale one. I can never decide which is my favourite, 1, 4 or 6, but having *JUST* seen it, I'll say 4.
    For now.
Nimoy contributed heavily to the story here, as he did for 6. It was awesome, again. B-)

Again ,not a bloke film ,no cars ,sex,bombs,guns,drugs,fights.ect. Just good old fashioned acting .

No mention of 2 in your shortlist? Khan is a superb film and all the more poignant given Leonard's recent passing...

    The last days on Mars.
Another " Alien" horror film but low on suspense and a very down beat ending.
    Cool Mars Rovers though. :D

    Godzilla ( 2014 )
Good enough monster flick but it's odd that Godzilla isn't the star, infact in
Credit terms he'd be about third or fourth on the list. The main story follows
A solder and his family. Godzilla and his antics are almost a secondary story.

That's the problem - not enough Godzilla! I understand the thinking behind not overexposing the monster, and thereby making each of its appearances special, but I think it was carried to extremes in this movie. I was especially frustrated by the scene in which Godzilla engaged in his first big battle with the MUTO. Showing a glimpse on the fight on a television screen, and then immediately cutting away and not showing any more was a terrible choice, IMO. It really ruined a movie that had potential because the big guy looks better than he has in many years.

    The Look Of Love
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1951216/
I first saw this movie on it's UK release in 2013, when I was lucky enough to get a solo-holiday away from the family. Coogan is great in this film (IMO anyway) and the gratuitous nudity is a welcome addition too.
For this film, I can definitely say "check it out"!

I had to watch Vera Drake again ,something was missing ,my wife noted that the rich girl in the film ,who also had to have a termination, had no connection with Vera at all .Their worlds are miles apart, I think the writer was trying to portray the point, that if you came from a wealthy upper class back ground, you could by pass the law ,see one of daddies ex school chums, and problem solved. But if you are working class cannon fodder ,well tough, you have to obey the law of the land. Vera was prosecuted and jailed for "offences against the persons act of 1861 , basically one person cannot do anything to another in case they harm them ,regardless of wether they were given permission by the other person . Well its a pity the upper classes didn't remember this law ,when they aimlessly sent thousands of working class lads ,over the top at the Somme ,to be slaughtered and, maimed .

Just re-watched Pirates of the Caribbean with the missus.

It's not bad, but not great either.
