Eraser - A guilty pleasure action thriller that’s quintessentially mid to late 1990s in terms of gadgets and effects that seemed bleeding edge then, but amusingly tired and ropey in places nowadays (ahoy CGI crocs!). This is a moderately watchable vehicle for a still somewhat in his prime Arnold Schwarzenegger (still riding high from the goodwill generated by True Lies) before his movie career was virtually demolished by the time of the early 2000s after a slew of under-performing films, and he decided to move into politics. Schwarzenegger stars as a generic government enforcer and witness protector who goes rogue after he uncovers a sinister cable of corrupt Federal agents and a monolithic weapons contractor who connive to illicitly sell super rifles that have X-ray sights and could shoot clean through all solid objects (this is where the 1990a effects and props are still good nearly two decades later). James Caan phoning it in as a gravel voiced crooked agent of course out acts Schwarzenegger off the table and the late Robert Pastorelli is affable, but Vanessa Williams lacked chemistry with Arnie and had some way to go before becoming a more solid actress on Ugly Betty a decade later. The villain’s motives are too irrational and I suppose the writers intended a clumsy satirical point (why sell weapons to rogue states, criminals and terrorists, when the US Military and other NATO powers would pay more?), but hey ho, any excuse for Arnie to blast through small armies of goons, even if it was starting to get strained by this point. 5/10

Space Battleship Yamato, the live action movie. Well, it looked pretty, but in the end the only purpose it served was to reinforce how GREAT the anime (Space Battleship Yamato 2199) series was. Another two wasted hours...
Not exactly a film ,but I did watch a documentary on the murder of the little boy, James Bulger ,still very sad after all these years ,
one cant even imagine the horror of what that poor little lad had to endure in his final hour.
Kenny Williams in the carry on's, AA. If the role had a bit of meat on it he'd

Fast & Furious 7...I read a review of this which said that if you gave a 14 year old boy £200m to make a film, he'd make this ! Which is spot on...my 13 year old son loved it !!!
It's corny beyond belief...Vin Diesel seems to be channeling an oak tree - he's that wooden - Kurt Russell is good though...Jason Statham turns up, says his lines and collects his money...but the whole film is "gorgeous women pass by wearing very little, cars then chase each other...something explodes/collapses - usually both...then on the next scene and repeat..."...it's not terrible but it just misses out on being so bad it's good...
As said above...they ran the SPECTRE teaser trailer with this...and as the previous person pointed out, the cinema goes quiet when this comes on as people watch it...

Watched Purely Belter. A brilliant film about two lads who needa grand for season tickets to Newcastle. They do legit things at first, such as busking and washing cars. They then turn to crime to get money. A fantastic film with a fantastic cast such as Tim Healy and Kevin Whatley. One of my favourite films.
Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"
I've seen this film a few times and see more every time. The characters have tremendous depth, particularly Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale's rival magicians.
Highly recommended.
