Sightly maddening question: I know one of the Bond books features a reproduction of the tie-in ad by Mont Blanc ... though for the life of me I can't seem to locate it.

Hopefully someone else here knows which model.

Meisterstuck LeGrande in 18k gold, they no longer make it with the exact specs that were used in the film though, plus it costs more than a brand new Rolex Submariner.

Hmm... I wonder how many people actually buy that kind of thing.... I mean, I'd spend the money on a Rolex, thank you very much.

Sorry for pulling up a really old thread while searching for "Rolex".

It saddens me extremely :D to correct the so-called expert :v, but the fountain pen in Octopussy was the bigger size -149-
The precious metal fountain pens are called Solitaire and in 1983, the Solitaires have been available in solid gold and gold-plated brass.

Thus I assume, that they used the gold-plated version.

Speaking with an old marketing guy at Montblanc, they did not pay a penny for Montblancs appearance in Octopussy.

nitpicker modus on: the other one is called Le Grand

Something that has always troubled me is that the common collective knowledge about this pen has it that it is entirely pinstriped, but looking at the poster, it always looked like the top was pinstriped and the bottom had a barley pattern. Sorry to revive a dead discussion.

That image is crap and misleading.
I am having the shown poste in my collection and can assure you that the pen and cap are pinstriped.

What you see on your pic is an interference - probably due to too heavy data compression.
