Hustle - The Con Is On

Anybody else looking fwd to the second series of Hustle on BBC1 this tuesday at 9pm. I quite enjoyed last years episodes - something akin to the teamwork that Mission Impossible had in the 60's.

Yes indeed, the first series was excellent. All the episodes were well written and all included twists and turns, and often ended unexpectly. It's also great how you feel involved in the show when the actors do the thing where they look like they are actually talking to you, rather than just performing in front of the camera.

Hopefully the second series is just as good.

    Yeah.I sure am.
I thought the first series was great. One of the few shows I make a point of watching!
Acting is good and the plots are very exciting.

I thought the first series was fantastic and I'm eagrely anticipating the new series. It was very refreshing when it first aired, very light hearted though filled with suspense, a feel good programme despite dealing with con artists (who you're rooting for) and the fact the characters talk to the camera and you delve into their imagination. And the absolutely beautiful Jaime Murray as Stacey too, what's there to not like?

I wanted to revive this thread as the show just started playing on AMC in the states, and I absolutely love it. It is the first season, still, but it is really great and I am enjoying it immensely. Anyone else watching it? They advertised it so much during the Bondathon on AMC, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people watched it.

    Looks that way, friend. :)

There's really good chemistry within the cast and the plots are just enjoyable for viewers to delve into. I highly recommend this to those interested.

Yep, replaces Life On Mars on the BBC1 schedule on a Monday night after the end of that series.

Incidentally, that's another corker the BBC has come up with. I know they're famous for their period dramas, but they've got 1973 down to a fine art. Just as funny as it is thrilling and intriguing.

I was so annoyed I missed Life on Mars - please say BBC3 will repeat it?

The BBC is really having a fine run of good, interesting "thriller" type dramas... Life on Mars, Hustle, Spooks, and of course Dr Who.

Hey, anybody watch the show this night? Really cool, the ending is fantastic. I completely forgot about that guy until he showed up!

Can anyone tell me exactly when Mickey found out that Danny was bluffing? From the beginning, or after he lied about the "funny money?"

It was all staged. If not, that was a superb ad-lib by Danny to sell the misdirection.

Yeah. I'm not sure which it was, though. I mean, maybe he realized that the group is so great during it which is why he didn't tell Mickey about Scottish Ray afterwards. I mean, if it was all staged, why would he have mentioned that between the two "performances?"

Somehow Mickey knew it because when they were leaving the building, Mickey wanted to find out what Danny was going to talk to him about before they were so rudely interrupted. When Danny refused to expound his burden, Mickey just said in so many words that he knew. Which leads me to believe that Mickey has an intelligence snitch outside his circle. He's too pompous to follow a loose cannon like Danny Blue around himself. Just a theory...

I'd have to see the encore show in a few minutes to see just when the seriousness ended and the ad-libbing began. I know that there was some true feelings in Danny's words towards Mickey and that's what sold it. ;)

I didn't know it starts so soon- excellent! And yes, Life on Mars really is a treat, isn't it? Last week's in the pub was pretty much perfect telly I thought, managing to be genuinely laugh out loud funny, exciting, mysterious, and packing a big emotional punch at the end. A classic.

Finally we're getting plenty of snappy little escapist dramas after years of cop/doctor drugery. Thank you Dr Who! A shame Hotel Babylon hasn't worked out, but you can't win them all.

Yes, Night...after looking at the repeat show last night, it was definetely an "off-the-cuff" performance. ;)

For those interested in seeing this show, AMC is having a Hustle marathon of the first six episodes this Saturday at 4 P.M EST. If you get a chance, check it out. B-)

I just watched the whole marathon. Did anyone see the new ep? It was great, especially the ending. Was that supposed to be episode 1 of season 2? Is that why they "went on vacation" in the previous episode?

Yes, Night. That explains the hiatus.

BTW, Mickey won that bet. Danny's cool but can be an A-hole from time to time. Great show.

No, I agree that they tied. I mean, Danny definitely didn't win, but he did get very far on his instincts. He just needed a little structural help.

Danny was more annoying in that ep than in any other ep. Danny is probably my favorite most of the time, but he was a jack**s in that ep.

What I'm kind of upset about is, what happened with the Stacey Danny romance? Why is it Mickey Stacey all the sudden?

And if I'm not mistaken, with the assistance of Mickey. He sold the mark once he baited him with the map. The guy was already a suspicious type. If Mickey doesn't have a plan B they all go down...besides, Danny lost his poker face once he was outed...

I really want to like Danny but God! His arrogance will be his undoing. He's good comic relief though...

Ahhh....my young padawan, if you closely noticed, since the first episode, it was quite apparent that Stacey had a thing for Mickey. There was no Danny/Stacey thing, just a momentary laspe of weakness. You remember when she rejected his advances and he got T'ed off? It was because of her feelings for Mickey. I love their sexual tension (Stacey& Mickey) and I hope that they don't "jump the shark" so to speak...

I know that Stacey and Mickey had a thing since the beginning, but Danny had been trying the whole time, and he succeeded when they started kissing, but she broke it off because she still has feelings for Mickey. But that doesn't mean she wasn't interested. You watched the new episode, I'm sure. After they finished pretending to have sex, the look on both of their faces, and the heart that was in the corner of the screen or whatever, as well as their tones of voice when saying "good night," seems to show that they have real sexual tension, too. I dunno, what do you think, RA?

Why are we bumping heads like Mickey and Danny as to who won that bet? Ironic. :))

I just think that Stacey did it more out of spite and Danny did it, although he'd like to "do it" to her to antagonize Mickey once again hence the angst on Mickey's face last night listening on. If Mick turned around and told Stacey he was good to go, she'd be with him at the drop of a hat.
I don't think the writers will push the envelope on that matter either way because the audiences LOVE sexual tension and I'd think that it would ruin it for all involved. I mean that's what makes it work so well.

On last night's show, it was different but weird the way it played out. So I'm satisfied in the end result. :)

We'll see how each relationship continues. To me, it seems like Danny and Stacey were interested at first, but possibly because they both wanted to spite Mickey. However, I think something was there ANYWAY, and that it might come to a head later on. We'll have to wait and see.

As for the head-bumping, yeah, that is funny. I just think that they wouldn't have done it at all if Danny hadn't said they should, and he did a lot of the work, if not most of the work.

Funny how one could just spoil everything by giving you a state-of-play at the end of Series 2, isn't it? :D

I wouldn't do that, of course, cause I'd encourage you to keep watching!
