    I've got my decision finally!

    1 GE
    2 LALD
    3 TLD
    4 TB
    5 GF
    6 TND
    7 DAF
    8 MN
    9 LTK
    10 OHMSS
    11 DN
    12 TMWTGG
    13 AVTAK
    14 DAD
    15 FYEO
    16 TSWLM
    17 YOLT
    18 FRWL
    19 TWINE
    20 OP

I my mate saw this list, she would totally freak! Good job she doesn't come to this site! :D
The first few is because I've got a thing for. The first 4 is them and then it's GF because everyone likes that and I do too.
The bottom might freak people out. I just can't stand OP and I'm not the biggest fan of TWINE. Sorry about FRWL and TSWLM but that just happened because they were left after the others.
    Relax darling, I'm on top of the situation -{

    18. The Man With the Golden Gun
    19. Goldfinger
    20. Tomorrow Never Dies

Don't hate me because I don't like Goldfinger, it is just has the worst of both kinds of bond films. The movie is boring location wise, and the plot is too silly to take seriously, where as Roger Moore films had silly plots and silly antics, and Dr. No and From Russia With Love had serious plots and a serious tone

For people who put LTK 20th, I suggest you watch the film instead of basing it on other peoples reviews who don't know anything about Bond.

This is a VERY weird assumption and accusation to make.
Do you really think most people on a Bond fansite HAVEN'T seen EVERY Bond movie at least a few times?
Most lists (certainly mine) tend to be based quite heavily on which ones we feel are good enough QUALITY to most enjoy watching AGAIN.............

Okay, I tried to do this, but it's impossible. I'm only sure in the bottom four, and I'm pretty sure those will never change, even their order have been constant. But I just can't put the rest in any order...

    reverse order:

20)moonraker (falls off a cliff after the gondola scene)
    19) diamonds are forever (campy, didnt make sense after OMHSS)
    18) die another day (the first 75 mins are top notch. the last half hour is terrible. brosnan phones it in, halle berry is terrible)
    17) a view to a kill (walken is good, moore is too old, uninspired bond girl)
    16) octopussy (kind of boring, good performence by maud adams)
    15) you only live twice (amazing theme song tho)
    14) the man with a golden gun (interesting story, subpar production values)
    13) the living daylights (bumped back only because others are better)
    12) the world is not enough (elektra king is one of the most original characters in the series)
    11) dr. no (low budget production values, great introduction to bond)
10)for your eyes only (maybe moores best performence, somewhat weak story)
    9) tomorrow never dies (paris carver is a fascenating character, rehashes TSWLM)
    8) thunderball (great theme song, too much underwater)
    7) live and let die (great introduction to moore, the boat chase is outstanding)
    6) on her majesties secret service (wouldve been THE bond film had connery made it)
    5) goldeneye (brosnan is great, best fight (bond and trevelyan)
    4) the spy who loved me (IMO, the grandest of the films, best visuals)
    3) from russia with love (connery really comes into the role here. not technically the first, but the first real bond film)
    2) goldfinger (still great, connerys best. best villian in the series)
1)licence to kill (finest movie in this series. best story, best characterization. slightly poor resolution)

    Let me fix mine.

    I'll try reverse order.

    20. The World is not Enough - Boring and bad villians.

    19. For Your Eyes Only - First time good, but I hate the scenes in Italy.

    18. Goldfinger - I don't like the setting, America (yawn).

    17. Dr. No - Book was better and bad Bond girl.

    16. Die Another Day - Take over the world...again? Plus, the Korean plot, eh.

    15. Tomorrow Never Dies - Motorcycle chase too long.

    14. The Spy Who Loved Me - Bad Bond girl.

    13. You Only Live Twice - You Only Live Once, I couldn't watch it a second time, Japanese setting is also, eh. (Eh, is bad)

    12. Live and Let Die - Good, but plot was weak. I really liked Baron Samedi, ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!
    ha! ha!

    11. Moonraker - Good, but a little campy (Jaws), but had stunning effects for its time.

    10. Diamonds Are Forever - I hated it, now I like it. Heh, the world changes.

    9. The Man with the Golden Gun - I laughed.....Good villian.

    8. A View to a Kill - Zorin

    7. From Russia With Love - Classic.

    6. Goldeneye - Good action + sexy villaness = Good movie

    5. On Her Majesty's Secret Service - I like Terry Savalas more than Donald Pleasance.

    4. Licence to Kill - First Bond film I saw... GREAT!

    3. Octopussy - I like it...

The Living Daylights and Thunderball are tied for first...

yeah but most people watch Licence To Kill once then decide they don't like it,then never watch it again, if I don't feel like watching a bond film because it doesn't have a " I could watch this all the time feel to it", I don't simply pass it off as the worst bond film just for that reason.

Yeah let's do another all time list, just going to look after the old thread afterwards if anything has changed....
And to explain the low position of LTK, it's a rather mundane average action film that lacks the sophistication of the Bond Films i placed higher.

    1. Goldfinger
    2. From Russia with Love
    3. Thunderball
    4. Goldeneye
    5. The World is Not Enough
    6. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    7. Dr. No
    8. You Only Live Twice
    8. The Spy Who loved Me
    10. Octopussy
    10. Die Another Day
    12. For Your Eyes Only
    12. Live And Let Die
    12. The Living Daylights * Never Say Never Again
    15. Moonraker
    16. Tomorrow Never Dies
    17. Diamonds Are Forever
    18. Licence To Kill
    19. The Man With The Golden Gun
    20. A View To A Kill **

*Never say never Again is placed where it would be as an official entry.
** AVTAK even though last on the list would still be rated above average in a list of all films just in the Bond Universe my least favourite.

Fair enough. That goes for any movie that's low on anyone's list, yeah. I know I've watched the movies a ton of times and there are a lot of reasons for my opinions on placing of each and every movie. Quality is subjective, certainly, and based upon one or more of many possible factors, but that's what it all comes down to in the end.
We all should definitely make up our own minds about all of these things, from CR to TMWTGG, from DN to DAD............

I'm glad there are so many sensible people ranking Daylights and Licence well inside their top 10s. Both are constantly underrated by 'fairweather fans' and are surely two highlights of the series. I think one can be sure that Fleming would have liked them.

The main problem is that a lot of James Bond film fans haven't read ever Ian Fleming books:
Licence to kill is very near to the books. I love it, a lot ...

As someone who HAS - ALL the Fleming books - I simply can't agree with this.
I can't believe Fleming would have approved of much of it.

Exactly... I wonder when people will stop quoting Fleming in regards of the movies, because the cinematic character lives its own life, and I estimate 70-80% of the average movie going public has no idea who is Ian Fleming and why is he mentioned in the opening credits... And Fleming didn't even like Dr. No's adoptation, despite being relatively faithful.

its a simple fact that when putting books to movies, some things have to change. plus the books were written fifty years ago, and in some cases you can tell

However, there are degrees of changing... They left out the octopus fight from DN simply because it was unfilmable. In Moonraker, they kept some character names and that was all. There's a healthy balance between the two extremes.

All of which accentuates the fact that it's a blatant misrepresentation to claim that Dalton in LTK was Fleming's man on screen. Simply put, he was not.
