Finished watching The Man With The Golden Gun and Tomorrow Never Dies. Both will probably end up near Quantum of Solace, for me. TMWTGG had a nice concept but wasn't much of a good movie. TND was a good movie, but really lacked concept.

Thank you Absolutely_Cart. It was a quiet day at work and I have been wanting to post my list for quite some time. It would be nice to look back at the last time I did this and see what has changed.

Controversial? Maybe. But this film just rules. Excellent action, excellent villain, excellent performance from Dalton. Just very entertaining throughout. It is different but it works.

And here I am remembering times when your favorites were Live and Let Die (jarvio) and Tomorrow Never Dies (chrisisall) respectively. Gosh, I am so proud to see your tastes have improved this much over the years :))

    My new list:

    1. GoldenEye
    2. Goldfinger
    3. Skyfall
    4. Moonraker
    5. TSWLM
    6. AVTAK/Octopussy

    8. Tomorrow Nver Dies
    9. Diamonds are Forever
    10. TMWTGG

Out of all the members here on AJB, I think you have the most similar top 10 as me. Notable for what's included as well as what is not. (FRWL, OHMSS, FYEO) The main difference is I rank Skyfall dead last by a wide margin and I see you're not too fond of Dr. No.

    Goldfinger? Check
    TSWLM and Moonraker? Check
    OP and AVTAK? Check
    Living Daylights? Check
    Goldeneye & TND ? Check

I do enjoy DAF quite a bit, but wouldn't consider it a favorite.
TMWTGG is hovering just outside my Top 10. It always seems to be on the up and up.
    My current 10 favorite:

I think I only like DAF and TMWTGG because of how many times I've seen them. Films like FRWL and FYEO I might like a bit more if I saw them more often. Whilst GoldenEye is my favourite, I still think the most enjoyable film to watch is Moonraker, due to the big sets and elaborate stunts. However, FRWL just seems a bit.....boring to me. Or I'm just too much of a Moore fan.

    #14 - Die Another Day (2002, Brosnan)
I know you all want to kill me for having it this high, but I really enjoyed it. It's stupid escapist action but it's so committed to that fact, it goes all out. Full of great gadgets, absurdly entertaining action sequences and the sexy Halle Berry. The beginning was very strong, showing a more vulnerable Bond. As stupid as the film can get, it also tackles a lot of more serious subjects like the East's dualistic hate and admiration toward the west. The CGI surfing many fans considered to be a low point, and I get that. But if we're going to have silly over-the-top Bond films, why not go all the way.

Even though it's near the bottom of everyone's list, I'm sure I'm not the only one to admit it's a fantastic watch because of how silly it is.

Well, maybe it will climb up for me as well one day. Maybe I will have to take Thunderpussy's advice of going back to the novels and appreciating it in a different light. Because as of now, I found it to be confusing, very weak in it's story telling and I hated the fact that Bond in the end finally got the information he desired about Quantum, but not us, the audience! As if the film makers themselves didn't even know what to do with it. It's like with Diamonds Are Forever: the potential to be a great follow up, but completely missed the oppertunity. I sincerly hope Spectre won't do that as well, as that's also going to be a follow up again.

But like I said, I hope the appreciation will grow on me eventually.

I'm not sure why you are confused by it...it's very straightforward...although the script could have done with another rewrite I admit...what info are you missing about Quantum - and what is this fascination some people have with being spoon-fed everything ? Anyway, more about Quantum in SPECTRE...but as for SPECTRE...well...I'd expect more in Bond25...

Here is the definitive list. If your list is different, you are wrong and should adjust accordingly. Just kidding, of course. But I am happy to engage in spirited conversation over why they are ranked where they are. :)

Welcome aboard St. John Smythe! I am willing to be one of the people that will happily engage into one of those conversations, to me that's the true beauty of Bond fandom.

On the sidenote, you don't happen to be this guy right? :P

Haha. That is not me but I do think it's a fun alias. I actually often like to go by David Bowman but that seemed less appropriate on this website :)
