Great effort Revolver66. I always like to read fellow Bond fans opinions on the films. Our lists are not too dissimilar which tells me you must be a man of intelligence

Thanks man And yes it does seem like we have similar tastes. Great minds -{
I don't mind the lighter toned Bonds, Tom M's writing talents are clearly evident and there are some very funny scenes. It's nice to have SC back and the first 30 minutes of the film is a silly, wild ride. However the film lacks any great care as to what's going on, the special effects are horrid and the characters are weak. It truly is the worst Bond of them all because the effort just isn't there. It also doesn't feel like a Bond film, it's a cheap Vegas knock off that happens to have SC involved.
22. Die Another Day
Everything up to Iceland is pretty damn good, even then it remains entertaining. Jinx Jordan is the worst Bond girl in the series, she's a Charlie's Angels girl power, early 2000s-esque load of trollop who has no chemistry whatsoever with James and the film just ends up being jammed with cliches and too many special effects. Arnold's score is brilliant (as usual) and Brosnan puts in his 2nd best performance - he's the only consistent thing within the film.
21. Tomorrow Never Dies
Fits into the late 1990s brit-pop revival set of films which at the time give off a feel-good vibe but over time date and feel flat. I find TND has "classic" moments and takes a better stride than Goldeneye - but comes across as over-confident and cliched. Bond turns more into an American machine gun toting action hero with elements of Bond tacked on to keep it all in check. It's superficial in its qualities, and remains in that DAD entertaining-only zone. "Bond is Back", but not in anything new or original.
20. You Only Live Twice
Features the best location of the entire series, Japan in the 1960s. Plus an excellent soundtrack and great levels of intrigue. The film is big, brash and goes all out - but leaves me feeling bored at times, and gives off a shallow feel. Connery isn't all there, and Bond is limited with pushing buttons and being escorted around. The ending is more about the scale than a good showdown. Feels like running before walking...
19. Live and Let Die
It's odd and interesting, but (for good reason at the time) has many Bond elements removed. It fits into the Tom M's 'removed from its past' vibe of DAF. Moore puts in a good performance as always, but I find this Bond has languid moments and a weak plot with a silly ending.
18. Skyfall
Well made, amazing to look at, brilliantly acted - one of the best in that regard - but it's inwardly focussed, Bond is a pussy and it has plot holes. Comes across as a Bond rehash of the Nolan Batmans. M's death is sad.
17. Goldfinger
Complete classic, Connery is fantastic and Goldfinger is the best villain of the lot. So many great scenes, set-ups and "Bond moments" that give the series its iconic feel. GF has dropped in recent rankings because of the fact Bond does so little, the final act is a joke and it descends into lazy storytelling. I find that the overuse of sets, green screens and dull locations affect my sentiment for the film. I love Goldfinger and its classic elements - but have tired of it.
16. Licence to Kill
It's good and bad, the one I love to hate and hate to love. Apart from the usual criticisms (TV movie, cheap etc.) I feel that they didn't quite get the revenge element right, they also have inconsistencies in the way the story is told (loaded with puns and humour). Dalton does a stand-up job, but I won't applaud it as the best performance either. It's too heavy at times, and he lost is handsome looks from TLD very quickly. My girlfriend sums it up quite well "it doesn't feel like a Bond film at all".
15. From Russia With Love
Right, we're getting into the good stuff now. From Russia With Love features a flawless performance as Bond from Connery and has a great line-up of characters and is a perfect Cold War plot. I don't watch it often as I don't find it as entertaining as the others, but when I do, I get absorbed into the story. It fits into the category of "thinking-man's Bond".
14. Thunderball
Like YOLT it's overindulgent sure, but TB makes me feel like I'm on holiday and a playboy. It's a 'cool' Bond film that avoids the classicisms and cliches that Goldfinger has and just feels like a great time. Connery, while beginning his decline, is still in good form and shape and the film is all about the sexy players who are just on holiday. Yep, plot comes second, but great times come first.
13. Casino Royale
A very solid entry into the series. It's a whirlwind film that has new and old feelings, brilliantly establishing a new Bond and new direction. I find this slipping in the rankings as time goes on as it becomes a tedious watch. Vesper annoys me, Bond annoys me and the running time could be shorter. Still, it's pretty damn great.
12. Goldeneye
Like CR, this one has slowly started slipping down the chain. Elements of the film are too apologetic about Bond's past, Brosnan isn't fully comfortable and Alec Trevellyn is bloody annoying. Other than that, the film has a brilliant feel to it, crashing into the 1990s the film continues to deliver the "Bond is Back" feel with a cool soundtrack, great gadgets and post-Cold War relevancy. Excellent chemistry between Natalya and Bond, some great sidekicks (I like Joe Don Baker here) and the best establishing 40 minutes of all Bond films (PTS to the stealing of Tiger).
11. Quantum of Solace
Hard as nails, short, sharp - brilliant. I love the film's energy and pace and the fact that Craig isn't a brooding mess - he's getting on with it. I enjoy the plot, locations and cast - and has an original style. Arnold's best work too.
10. The Man With the Golden Gun
The best of the Tom M trio, has a solid, tough performance from Moore and combines humour, oddity and intrigue well. Scaramanga is an excellent villain, matched with Nick Nack and some pretty cool locations. I've been less enamoured by the film in recent viewings because of its superficiality, weak ladies and at times, cheapness (lacks Ken Adam). I've also tired a bit of the plot and while Roger is my #1, he's not carrying the films as well as he does in later entries. He's almost placeholder like...
9. A View To A Kill
A solid, entertaining Bond film with brilliant cast of villains and an excellent Roger swan-song. It's not perfect, and is beginning to get into that churned out 1980s state that some of the films start to show. Despite this, the film always maintains my interest and fascination and regular criticisms that the film suffers (Roger's age, GF re-hash) never stick with me. Best title song in the series.
8. Octopussy
The most entertaining film in the series, Roger's most balanced performance and a fully intriguing, globe-trotting story that does the Cold War theme so well. It would be the most watched film in the collection and always brings something new when watching. Outstanding set of villains, great chemistry with everyone and fantastic action sequences. It's the Bond film that has it all.
7. Dr. No
I love the slower pacing and preview of what's to come. It has elements of a whole bunch of other movies wrapped into one with some of the Bond signatures not yet fully defined. Connery is a force, who certainly is James Bond right off the bat. Other than him, nothing specific in the film is outstanding, but it all comes together so well to create a fantastic first Bond film.
6. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Damn it's good. Lazenby is excellent. Savales is great as Blofeld and the film just wraps you in its original world straight off. All the different puzzle pieces come together to form something not seen before (or after) in the series, something attempted, but failed with in LTK. I do believe Lazenby only doing one elevates the intrigue of his performance, but he looks the part, fights and moves well and I believe him as a great Bond. It's also an excellent Christmas Bond, with a very serious feel to it, despite the light Hillary Bray cover. Brilliant.
5. The Spy Who Loved Me
I think TSWLM is the only flawless Bond film. It's got it all including a stellar performance from Roger, great chemistry with Bach, excellent group of villains (Jaws is a triumph here) and stunning locations. While the film is formulaic, it avoids any traps by adding the original and brilliant pairing of XXX/Bond and the interactions that follow - nothing is revealed too early or dragged out like TB or YOLT. Like Goldeneye there's a real "Bond is back" feel to the film while bringing new elements to the table like the stunning PTS, solid SFX and Cold War relevancy.
4. The Living Daylights
An excellent Dalton performance, great convoluted plot and very stylish/classy. The Living Daylights is a great Cold War film that has elements of romance and adventure added in the mix too. I enjoy the Moore elements translated into this film as I think they work quite well (not too garish, but not too muted). Features Barry's best work, some brilliant photography and on the whole a very solid entry into the series that is full of evidence of how much work behind the scenes was thrown at it to make it relevant, coherent, current and deep.
3. Moonraker
Entertaining, full of scope and extremely well made. The technical achievement of the film is outstanding accompanied by a haunting Barry score, a diabolical Drax (played perfectly by Lonsdale) and Ken Adam's best and last film. While Moonraker strays into the odder territory, it features some very tight espionage and is well written. Moonraker always makes me feel like a kid. Pure, brilliant entertainment.
2. For Your Eyes Only
A beautifully made, muted Bond film. Featuring an excellent performance by Moore, a great score by Conti and an adventure which is purely about wits and alliances. Some stunning locations, well matched humour produces a Bond film which is tight and focussed.
1. The World Is Not Enough
I love the way this plot twist and turns around M and Bond and Bond has to figure things out while playing many different roles, including falling in love with Elektra. Brosnan plays this brilliantly and his acting is on point. Matched by Judi Dench and Sophie Marceau's excellent performances too. The film jumps around to interesting and intriguing locations and features some great action sequences. While Christmas Jones may not be the sharpest Bond girl, she's absolutely stunning and there's a nice chemistry between her and Bond. The film still feels current and hasn't dated one bit, plus features a very poignant sign-off from Q. Arnold's score is on point and Apted's direction of the actors is sound. I believe I'm the only one on here who has TWINE as their #1 film!
Good write up Heartbroken Mr. Drax! I've always found it fascinating to see the various lists of different Bond fans, because they almost always differ. Yours is no exception!

01. Live and Let Die
1. GoldenEye 1995 - First Bond movie. Pure nostalgia. 10
2. Casino Royale 2006 - Modern classic. 10
3. Thunderball 1965 - Defines 60s Bond. 10
4. From Russia With Love 1963 - My second film. Kinda like Hitchcock. But better. 10
5. Dr. No 1962 - Gets better every time i watch it. 9.5
6. Licence To Kill 1989 - I love 80s action films so this is just perfection. 9.5
7. Goldfinger 1964 - Iconic. 10
8. On Her Majesty's Secret Service 1969 - Used to dislike. Now love it. 10
9. The Living Daylights 1987 - Classic. Slightly underwhelming third act. 9.5
10. Quantum Of Solace 2008 - Underrated and original. Moves like a bullet. 9.5
11-20 change all the time.
11. The Spy Who Loved Me 1977 - Love Rog. The only reason it's this low is the previous ten. 9.5
12. Tomorrow Never Dies 1997 - Modern TSWLM. 9.5
13. For Your Eyes Only 1981 - 80s FRWL. Great apart from the soft focus photography. 9
14. Octopussy 1983 - Nothing wrong here. Finale drags a bit. 9
15. The World Is Not Enough 1999 - I don't even mind Denise Richards. Shes great to look at. 9
16. Diamonds Are Forever 1971 - I look at it as a 70s GF. Finale could have been better and the effects are bad even for their time. 9
17. Die Another Day 2002 - Great first half. Second half still has good stuff but the CGI surfing/robosuit/and Halles dialogue is unforgivable. 8
18. A View To A Kill 1985 - Love the soundtrack and SF. Close to home. Rog is too old but he still rocks. 8
19. Live And Let Die 1973 - Good but nothing special. Luv Sherrif Pepper. RIP. 7
20. You Only Live Twice 1967 - Classic movie let down by the turning Japanese s**t and Kissy's dialogue. 7
21. The Man With The Golden Gun 1974 - Love the first 40 mins. After that, apart from JW, nothing special. 7
22. Skyfall 2012 - Great cinematography doesn't make an otherwise dull movie great. 6
23. SPECTRE 2015 - Who's idea was it to make the entire movie yellow? Only reason its above MR is because of the PTS and Rome scenes. Cant stand Madeleine or Denbigh either. 6
24. Moonraker 1979 - Gotta admit. Its beautifully shot and scored. Im just not a fan of sci-fi. Gotta be in the right mood for it. 6
The Bond Actors
.2-6 change constantly. They're all good in their own way.
1 Sean Connery - By default.
2 Timothy Dalton
3 Pierce Brosnan
4 Daniel Craig
5 Roger Moore
6 George Lazenby
Okay....I totally forgot the ranking threads were moved into the trivia section. Here's mine for 2017.
1. Moonraker 10/10 - I realize I post about this film a lot and finally decided that is probably is my favorite. It's also the one I like to watch the most. The reason it gets the edge over TSWLM is John Barry's score and a memorable villain in Hugo Drax. The production values, special effects, cinematography, and locations are all superior to any other Bond film.
2. TSWLM 10/10 - Traditionally, I have always considered this my favorite, but upon recent viewings some of the disco in the soundtrack is jarring. Overall, this is the Roger Moore era at it's best. Everything on the 007 checklist in full force. This is one of three "definitive" Bond films. The other two being Goldfinger and TND.
3. Dr. No 10/10 - The original classic. Follows the novel closely and has some of the most iconic 007 scenes. Holds up better today than the other "bigger" 60's Bond films.
4. Tomorrow Never Dies 9/10 - The 90's era throwback to TSWLM Lewis Gilbert style Bond. A near perfect Bond film in every way. Plus, it doesn't have the politically correct lectures of Goldeneye.
5. Goldeneye 9/10 - Nostalgia factor is huge here, especially with the Nintendo 64 game. Tank chase is one of my all-time favorite action sequences.
6. Goldfinger 9/10 - The most iconic film of the series and has many classic scenes, while still closely following the Fleming novel. The only reason this isn't in my top 3 is the second half drags a bit with Bond in captivity and he has little effect on the outcome of the plot.
7. AVTAK 8/10 - One of the most misunderstood Bond films. The perfect combination of realism, gadgets, and glamor. Unfairly considered a comedic Bond movie, when it was actually ushering in a new era of violence.
8. Octopussy 8/10 - Perhaps the most flat-out entertaining Bond film. Hampered by some silly gags, but overall still top-notch 80's Cold War Bond.
9. TWINE 8/10 - Another solid Bond film with a few twists and turns. Bordering on soap opera, but still delivers the goods.
10. QoS 8/10 - Short and sweet. This is as close to Fleming's Bond as I have seen on screen. The only downside for me is it is a continuation of CR instead of being a stand-alone film.
11. LTK 8/10 - I admire the effort here to make an ultra-violent, hard-edged Bond film.
12. TMWTGG 7/10 - Quirky and strange, this is one of the coolest Bond films. Hampered by some ditzy sidekicks.
13. DAD 7/10 - Okay, I love the first half and certain parts of the second half. Not a total loss as most fans would have you believe.
14. Spectre 7/10 - On track to be one of the best Bond films, but things go badly wrong once Blofeld is introduced as Bond's brother. Dull climax doesn't help either.
15. Thunderball 7/10 - Has enough classic Bond moments to make up for some serious pacing issues and plot holes.
16. FRWL 6/10 - Overrated as the best Bond film. I find this one slow and rather clunky. The plot is more confusing than intriguing.
17. LALD 6/10 - Pretty cool and weird. The overlong boatchase prevents it from moving higher up.
18. YOLT 6/10 - In theory I should love this film, but it goes downhill with Aki's death, the wedding sequence and turning Bond Japanese. (of all the things to use from the Fleming novel that should not have been one)
19. TLD 5/10 - This is a hard one to rate, because the first half is a 10 and the second half is a 0. Bond should have stayed in Eastern Europe and not teamed up with the Taliban in a Lawrence of Arabia style epic.
20. DAF 5/10 - I do enjoy this film. Honestly, I think it's really funny. It's also kind of embarrassing for how campy and sleazy it is.
21. Casino Royale 5/10 - Better than the 1967 version by a wide margin. Glad to see Fleming's novel finally getting some justice. Vesper is one of the best Bond girls. However, this Bond Begins reboot doesn't deliver the goods that I've come to expect.
22. FYEO 4/10 - Honestly, I always forget this film exists between Moonraker and Octopussy. It's rather drab and boring compared to other Roger Moore films. The Risico portion of the film is top notch, but the rest sags. The awful Bill Conti soundtrack and Bibi Dahl bring the film way down.
23. OHMSS 4/10 - I'm glad this dark-horse film has such a devoted following. I admire it for sticking fairly close to the novel. Unfortunately, it's still pretty corny. Lack of any cool Bond moments leave me wanting more.
24. Skyfall 0/10 - Start to finish there is not one redeeming quality about this film. The only Bond film I don't like.
1. Roger Moore
2. Pierce Brosnan
3. Sean Connery
4. Daniel Craig
5. George Lazenby
6. Timothy Dalton
My current 10 favorite:
1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK
Felt like doing this again. Same feelings, apart from MR.

Let me be clear first that even the film that is No 22 in my ranking is a great film in my book. When you have so many gems some have to be at the bottom.
How can you have "Dalton Rulez™" as a signature and only have him as No4 in your rankings? Or are you like me and you think that rankings don't matter?

That's quite simple really. Timothy Dalton is my favourite Bond actor.

I would never make a ranking but, I wish I could congratulate you on your good taste. I mean, Moonraker, Tomorrow and Golden Gun on such low positions is blasphemy in my humble opinion.

Thanks man And yes it does seem like we have similar tastes. Great minds -{
23: Diamonds are Forever
"Better make that two."
