Polls

I don't know if there is already a topic on this but I couldn't see it if there is! I just thought I'd say I think the polls are a great idea! How about using this thread to suggest polls to be held on the front page?

Ok that's all I really had to say, is that alright!?

    The Favourite Bond Poll!

Short and sweet but don't include Craig yet! It wud be interesting for results from this site alone.
    Relax darling, I'm on top of the situation -{

If I remember right, we had a 'Favorite Bond' poll last year! Interestingly, the most popular ones according to the poll were Lazenby and Dalton; both of them got far higher numbers than any of the others. We basically came to the conclusion that since Lazenby and Dalton fans are usually in the minority, they wanted their favorites to be known. It seemed that people were clicking the "vote" button over and over and over again. ;)

It was still quite interesting, though. :)

Sorry I have only just seen this. This poll has been added.

Please suggest more and I will add them as and when. Don't make them too complex or long winded though.

Thank you, Si! A great poll subject for the new year! :D

I will certainly be keeping my eye on the results! :)

Thanks for the poll:-) Does this mean I can vote more than once....I feel a carpal tunnel event coming on...LOL

Unfortunatley at the moment yes. Even worse is that there is no sure fire way of stopping people voting twice. The best I can do is still not full proof sadly. But I will probably re-implement it now.

And really now...isn't that what most statistics are all about. Asking questions in ways that stack the answers in the favor of the entity that benefits from the data, or providing statistics from selected audiences. That old fallacy of "the numbers never lie" is so wrong. I will rely on my usual honesty and just vote once, and thanks for the opportunity to exercise my anger management, should the data prove in favor of the ones I did not vote for. Your the best Si!!! :-)
  • SiCoSiCo EnglandPosts: 1,371M
Ok I have updated the polls, only one vote per person.

Well strictly speaking it's far from shall we say, full proof.

In the new site I think I will make some polls members only and then it will be easier to make it one vote per member. At the moment though anyone viewing the site can vote.

I like this poll...however, some Bonds are taking quite a beating.

Yeh, it's surprising how Connerry/Brosnan dominated it is!

I expected Roger Moore to do alot better too but I knew Brosnan would do well.

If anyone has an ideas for the next poll let me know I think it's time for a change the two Bond's are running away with it. Maybe with the limited cheating options these are the true results as opposed to last years?!

How about something like "which Bond Actor's films had the best Bond Girls?" It could be something like this:

    Answers:

Sean Connery[/*]

George Lazenby[/*]

Roger Moore[/*]

Timothy Dalton[/*]

Pierce Brosnan[/*]
I suppose it's pretty self-explanatory. :) At first, I considered "which Bond Era" instead of "which Bond Actor's films," but I really wasn't sure if many consider Lazenby's single film an "era" by itself. Not to mention, casual Bond fans and guests that visit this site might have some difficulty understanding what would be meant by an "era." :)

Will CR Royale / Daniel Craig exceed expectations?

    Yes
    No
    I hope so

I thought I'd stick the 'I hope so' in or we'd just get a load of 'no's!

Beaten me too it Sly Fox!!

Yes, a poll about Bond Girls would be good Si!!

Consider the Bond girls poll done and dusted.

The Moneypenny one will be next.

As for the Craig one we have only recently had a Craig poll so I think we will leave that to rest for a while.

The next actual poll is probably more likely to be asking opinions of the new Casino Royale teaser poster when it is released (possibly this week).

    Sean Connery - 33% (5)

    George Lazenby - 7% (1)

    Roger Moore - 27% (4)

    Timothy Dalton - 13% (2)

    Pierce Brosnan - 20% (3)

Ok these are the votes but I dont understand what the 1 to 5 at the end of each vote means?
  • SiCoSiCo EnglandPosts: 1,371M
That is just the actual number of votes that have been made. Just to give the percentage some grounding.

e.g. 3 People voted for the Pierce Brosnan Era

    Hope that clears it up.

Hey good one (not sarcastic)! Is that really how few people have voted!? I thought thousands had!

I think it may be a good idea to rephrase the current pole slightly:

Which Bond had the best Girls?

With the options there people will know what it means, but then again it's understandable now I just thought that would look/sound better! I'm a bit of a perfectionist!

Those low participant numbers might be because you can now vote only once, which indicates....not many people vote. Surveys can be difficult to develop, they must be objective, yet cover topics that the participants have a passion about. Campaigns are an important part of surveying. Announcing upcoming poll topics and timelines for voting helps to remind participants of the importance of their vote. Sometimes having a poll reminder stuck at the top of each forum directing the posters to the poll can be helpful. Even though there are a huge number of members on this board, it would be helpful to know how many are currently active, then that would give an estmated number of votes that might be expected, and typically you need to divide that in half to be realistic as to the turnout. If a survey has a 75% return, that is considered to be a very high turnout and provides successful data. Small voting numbers are not as reliable for realistic data outcomes. And as mentioned before...the way you ask the question can also skew the voting. Polls are fun when there is a good turnout. :)

Yeah, I realised that after commenting. You see the results were something like:

    Connerry (4)
    Lazenby (1)
    Moore (3)
    Brosnan (3)

And that could have easily been the "best Bond" poll! Anyway, it's all sorted now! :P

I like that, but your missing one. I'd have to answer Heart attack, from you know what.

Whenever I remember! - A new one has now been added. When you get bored of seeing the results just let me know and i'll look into adding another. As long as their are ideas here it will be easier.

The death poll will be next (hmm that sounds nice doesn't it!).
