Corgi Gold Models

I have just seen a couple of Gold Corgi cars I didn't know existed. Retailing for £19.99 they were a gold Aston Martin DB5 (They've done one before, this one looked slightly cheaper).

But a little bit more interesting was the Aston Martin Vanquish. Again it looked slightly cheap compared to some older models, but it still looked nice.

Does anyone know how old these are I don't ever remember seeing them released.

I think these are new releases, just within the past few months. I visited a comic shop yesterday that had the Vanquish out of the package right there on the counter, and it indeed looked cheap. The portion of the body that made up the lower half of the nose was more silver in tone, in glaring contrast to the gold finish of the rest of the body.

Corgi wo nt see another penny of my money until they release the mirror car, which had been planned for the 40th anniversary release of the DB5,in October this year.
And if it does nt ever appear then Corgi wo nt see any of my hard-earned ever again.

They are new issues - there is also a box-set available that contains both cars. Check out ebay, they are usually on there.

It's a totally new release and a sort of bitter replacement of the mirror-car. Most importantly, it's nearly not as exlusive as it seems to be, no matter how bad the marketing pretends it. Like gyrojet, this one isn't on my list since I've already own numerous superior versions of both cars, so I don't need another one. They should be more inventive in doing different models, not just gold-plating old ones... These are Mr. Goldfinger's methods. :p

Cat!?!? You own Corgi models of cars that appeared in the Brosnan Bonds, including the Vanish :)) Do you roll it on the table, saying, "brooom! brooom!" ...then close your eyes and pretend it "vanishes?" :))

Actually it IS invisible... The guy I bought it told me they made it invisible with a very special method. Unfortunately this means you can't see it, but they reassured me the car is in there. As much as I'd like to make sure of that, they also warned me not to open it because it'd ruin collector's value. Best 100$ ever spent. :D

LOL :)) I have a jar of air exhaled by Sean Connery that I'm selling for $200, but for you, it is only $195, a handsome discount of 2.5%, shipping and tax not included :))

Thanks for the information, the gift set looks nice but at the end of the day I have a much better Gold DB5 than these look so I will pass it up.

If someone buys me one for Christmas then that's ok!

    Totally different beast, bondaholic007.

I think it could be hard to give an accurate price for this item. There are a few on ebay at the moment and it would be an idea to follow a couple of these and see what price they fetch. I would imagine they would fetch something around the £100 mark though.

Those that attended the Goldfinger event at Pinewood in April may have noticed a large model of a DB5 on the fireplace in the signing room.

It was about 18 inches long and according to the "Man from Corgi" was the prototype of a DB5 they were hoping to produce. Made of fibre-glass, die-casting it made it toooo heavy and prone to cracking on the thinner section of roof (alongside the ejector seat hatch).

A beauty to behold but unfortunately when (if) it is produced will be limited to only a few hundred total, some of those being a "straight" DB5 without the hidden extras (and bl**dy expensive too).
