James Bond Monopoly June 2006

At last, the James Bond Collector's Edition of the popular board game Monopoly will be released in June. In this version, players will have to buy, sell, or trade all of the 21 official James Bond films, including Casino Royale (2006)! The game also comes complete with six 007-themed pewter tokens: Oddjob's Bowler Hat, Rosa Klebb's Shoe, Aston Martin DB5 Car, The Q Boat, Little Nelly Helicopter, and Bond's Jetpack. I am definitely pre-ordering this game!

See it here!

OMG that's sooo exciting! yet another reason why I have to buy another collector's edition monopoly. I already have Simpsons and Star Wars along with the original, why shouldn't I get another one?

I intensely dislike the artwork used on Bond merchandise at the moment. Since DAD (and the 40th anniversary), they've used the blue background, 'techno lines', and the jagged sillouette. It can be seen everywhere, from Model cars to palying cards.

Well, it does say "Prototype subject to change" below the image, so the final version might be a bit more to your liking. Still, I'm more interested in what the board and game pieces will look like, and what the "Chance" and "Community Chest" cards will read. And the artwork will have to be pretty darned impressive to equal what darenhat created a while back, and which you can still see here.

Isn't that blue lined map affect from around the time of TWINE? This game was originally suppossed to be released in 2002 with DAD, and it looks like they kept the cover art they'd have used then.

And like HB I'm more interested in what's inside.

The box is a bit bland, lets hope they change it before they release it. It would be nice to see some pictures of the board.

Interesting, I notice in the corner it includes some material from "The NEW Casino Royale!"

Two things strike me as strange about this. The first is that they re continuing to use a silhouette that is very obviously Brosnan. And the second is that they ve listed the 20 films in order so that FRWL,most fans favourite, has the monetary value of "Whitechapel" while the doggie-do that passes for DAD will be "Park Lane" or "Mayfair".Odd.

I came across this new photo revealing the board for the new James Bond 007 edition of monopoly coming out late this month. I have already pre-ordered this game off Amazon and I can't wait till it arrives!

Plus the, er, community chest (is it? The large panels on the 'road' around the outside of the board) uses a silhouetted version of Craig's first publicity shot, oddly extrapolated as far as his legs.

I may have to get this just for the tokens. The 007 logo, Oddjob's hat, the submersible Lotus. . .good stuff!

This is great! I am going to get this for sure. Still, I liked darenhat's idea of the propertys being places like MI6 better than them being movies such as Goldfinger.

I have pre-ordered my copy from a games store in Melbourne's CDB, and they said it should arrive in early July 2006 (but I'm still going in there every Friday after work, just to see if it's arrived early!).

Looks pretty neat...and the tokens are great! I thin k the "007 Assignment" property is a cop-out. They're obviously trying to hard to include all the films to appease the fans, yet at the same time keep it general enough to be appealing to casual players by alluding to only the film titles and not the film details.

I'll be sure to pick this up when it's available (if only to steal the tokens for my own game :p )

I cancelled my pre-order and decided to just pick it up at the mall today. I haven't played yet, but it looks great. Looks like all the details have been covered except that chance and community chest and Bond Girls and Villains. :007)

Well, wish I had the money for this. it looks very cool, but I don't like the way that the films are lined up as most people will go with their favorite films when they are worth nothing...i.e YOLT. Unfortunately this dicourages me from buying this game. Ah well, love to hear some positive reviews... :)

I just received a phonecall from Mind Games in Melbourne, my pre-ordered copy of 007 Monolpoly is now ready for me to purchase!
I'll pop down there after work tomorrow and pick it up!
It's retailing for $85 Australian, but I suspect you could get it for around $70-80 at some of the larger outlets.
Target Australia is having a much publised Toy Sale, and this product may be included into their range now.
Or of course, you could always wait until the Christmas sales, or even the Boxing Day sales.
I purchased the 007 Scene It? game for $50 Australian, and I haven't seen the price that low since!

I picked up the 007 Monopoly board after work today, and I'm very VERY impressed!
The whole thing is just terrific, and evenly set out. I thought that it may have focused more on Connery or Brosnan, but this has a nice mix.
The pieces are very Bondian. The Lotus, Bowler Hat, the Acrostar from Octopussy, etc. Just great.
The only thing I thought was strange was the blurb about the Bond franchise on the back of the box. I wouldn't regard Bond as "Hollywood's" greatest film franchise. I think the closest EON has come to Hollywood was when they shot AVTAK in San Francisco.
Other than that, I've very happy with my latest purchase!
Now, let's bring on 007 Trivial Pursuit! :D

Good idea about the Trivia Pursuit Asio.

I am also impressed with the monopoly, however I just have 1 small issue with it: Each Bond Girl and Bond Villain card have a different character pictured on it. After a couple times playing you will already know what the card will say before you land on the space. Other than that it's great!

Too true, but another thing I noticed about those cards is that there are none of Tim Dalton's villains or girls on them!

I just got my copy from Amazon .com a few weeks ago,
I can't remember the last time I was this excited to play a board game(I usally play my Nintendo Gamecube and Gameboy adavance more.)

I played my first game against my 8 year sister, she insisted on plaing it with me as soon as it came.
By time we were finished playing I owned five films and two Bond cars, including the new Aston Martin DBS from Casino Royale.

This is one board game that I will definatly be playing with alot.
  • asioasio Melbourne, AustraliaPosts: 546MI6 Agent
So, now that Casino Royale has been released, do we all agree it's worth the $400 listed on the Monopoly Board?
    I certainly do.
