Octopussy Seiko Watch from the movie???

rockcentralrockcentral Posts: 4MI6 Agent
Many years ago my grandfather gave me a watch and told me it was the watch used in the movie. He was friends with the stunt pilot from the movie named Robert Morris who gave it to him in a real estate deal. IT is a Seiko Silverwave. I just pulled it out of a box and asked him about it again.
he told me that in the film they used 3 of them and that I have one.
I guess my question to all of you is if there is any way to authenticate it and if it is legitimate, where to sell it?

there is a picture of the watch below the picture of the billboard, and also in the top row in the middle

Are you sure, that it has been a Silverwave used in the movie? all I know is, the watch, which is clearly seen on publicity shots, is a "Sports 100" Seiko without a Silverwave labelling.

The Silverwave, even looking similar is in 4 points different to the Seiko:
The bezel is labelled "Silverwave" instead of "Sports 100", the LCD display is slightly different in the top right corner and the Silverwave never came with a metal bracelet, it had a rubber strap.

The Silverwave carries the different reference number G757-5000 on the bottom.

Do you have a pic of the watch, you are talking about?

Don't mean to change the subject, but Bondtoys, how much is your Bond whistling key fob in USA dollars?

it looks just like the second picture on that link, but it says silver wave on the top where it says "sport 100" I am in no way familiar with bond stuff. I guess I should watch the movie again to see if the stunt pilot is who grandpa says it is, but there was a picture signed by roger moore to the pilot that I have lost over the years.
I have never had it working.

    Hello,
I have received the pic from rockcentral and have matched it with 2 shots regarding Octopussy.

I would like to hear the opinion of the forum members, if the watch on the left may have been used in the movie like rockcentral says.

    Greetings

Hi Markus, the Seiko used in Octopussy is model G757-5020 also known as the Horseshoe model. It is clearly marked in back of the watch. It is the one pictured except the one in the film, I believe, had a metallic band. I don't believe it was rubber.

Guys, you are getting me totally wrong:

I think, I am pretty deep in the topic with the Seiko watches from the 007 movies.
As to my knowledge (and I have no reason to doubt this), the Seiko G 757-5020 has been used in the movie and nothing else (if we take out the TV Timer for a moment).

I have just responded to rockcentral, who told us, that his grandfater gave him a Silverwave G757-5000 telling him, that that watch has been used in the movie.

So, I have just received the pic from him and asked about your opinion as I personally cannot agree with Rockcentral's story based on my knowledge.
