    so very, and sadly true.

PS. I'm about to go give my local comic shop the evil eye until they order Shylock for me...I'm sure there'd be a HUGE market for it here if the purchases of other patrons are anything to go by...

Thank you so much for saying so, scaramanga! ;)

Been busy trying to work out the pages for a new story. Here are a couple of cellshots of the artwork that I worked on last night and thought I'd share them with the members here:

Sorry for the terrible shots but I have to buy another scanner this week. You can just make out what's going on though...

Here's another page to the story before the scanner busted...

I hope you like them anyway. Thanks for looking.

For those concerned, sorry for being away so long but I've been busy with projects and hopefully potential ones. Did a comic convention with an Image Comics buddy of mine this past weekend and I was very fortunate to remain busy doing sketches and selling mags for the last couple of days - And making connectios as well...

I really wanted to make Baltimore this year but it doesn't help that they were on the same weekend I was promised to this one. :#

I guess the upcoming GL movie is getting fans excited because I got quite a few requests for Lantern characters. Here's a high rez of one that I liked alot after I drew it that the customer was really happy with. The one GL fan on this site might appreciate it though. :D

    101.jpg

To tell the truth, I almost wanted to keep this one for myself. ;%

Here are a couple of pics from the con that I thought I'd share:

Brothers who are fanboys of opposing companies. Seriously, according to their dad. :))

    IMG004891.jpg

There were quite a few ladies decked out in costumes on Saturday. I was too busy to snap pics of them all.

    IMG004881.jpg

    Just thought I'd share.

Martini & Pen, thank you. Of course this fan requested pre-evil Sinestro when he was still a Lantern. Although he used to wear a mask then, I suggested that I nix that portion of the costume because Sinestro just looks silly wearing one IMO. It also shields his true pompousness and facial expressions. I'm glad he agreed.

I had someone come up to the table when I was drawing this and complimented me on sketching a cool Hal Jordan. Of course I saved him the embarrassment and just said thank you. :))

Sorry...couldn't resist Rogue. I feel so bad for that kid...what an embarrassing display by his mom. I would have wanted to ban her from my class! :)) You are truly a gentleman to be so understanding! I'm glad she apologized, I can't stand when people think the female body is dirty, especially in an art form! You are teaching them more than skill, you are preparing them to be successful so they know how to sell their stuff in the real world. That is valuable information. Too bad she didn't come to her senses before humiliating her son and husband too! :s

Thanks much, Loeff. Villians have been alot more interesting for me to draw lately. Sinestro's right up there on my list. :)

Yeah, 'Nique it was an awkward moment for all then. Not sure the event changed her overnight though...

Yet another in the many requests for a GL sketch. This was a quick doodle a fan wanted so despite time constraints, I tried to make it as nice as possible for him. I was maybe on this one for five-six minutes at the most...

This one had to be the cutest con pic to me. The father was a huge SHAZAM! fan and bought this pic I drew awhile back to hang in his baby son's room. The kid had on yellow Captain Marvel booties which I thought was awesome. B-)

Just a case of being at the right place at the right time I guess. That pic was meant for him I suppose...

Very very nice Shazam Rogue; that character really seems to dovetail nicely with your style. Great Hal and Sinestro too, although Sin seems a little too friendly; you need to make that smirk a little more sarcastic next time. ;)

Thanks, Tony. You're the second person who told me that over the last week or so. The other was Keith Pollard who used to draw The Amazing Spider-Man when we were teens. B-)

I'm sure on Sinestro, this won't be the only one I draw. He's quickly becoming one of my favorites to sketch lately; probably because I love him in First Flight so much. You'll see others I'm certain. ;)

He did steal the show in First Flight. I look forward to someday seeing your Ryan Reynolds and Mark Strong inspired takes on Hal and Sin. ;)

Well, I think his opinion carries a little more weight than mine. :)

The thing that made me feel good is the guy stopped at me and my friend's table and went through all of my portfolios discecting what he loved about each piece and being really taken with some of it. I had no idea who he was at first so I was holding a friendly conversation with him about movies and other things in the comic world while working on a commission for a fan who was off somewhere else. Then he mentioned some of the artistic approaches I took that he could never pull off so I just thought that he was being nice and then I asked him if he was an artist and of course he said yes...then he introduces himself and I immediately asked: "Keith Pollard? Spider-Man artist Keith Pollard from the late 70s?"

He says with a smile, "Yes."
Tony, I swear I reverted back to the kid years again. I rambled off, in detail, every Spiderman comic he drew during that run including being the artist on the first appearance of Black Cat. The guy could not believe how accurate I was because he could barely remember all of that in vivid detail...but I could. I knew every artist on Spidey during that decade from Romita, SR. to him. :))

He takes one of my business cards and says he'll keep in touch but if not, it was really cool to meet another idol of mine from the good ol' days. I probably would've reverted back to a 1st grader had I met Romita, Sr. or Neal Adams. ;%

I realize that's like geek territory but that's how much I've cherished the genre. Many kids don't immerse themselves into the fantasy of books anymore in any format; they have videogames and 600 channels of cable tv to indulge them nowadays.

In the Halloween mood, I decided to draw a witch pinup to later be inked by a friend and hopefully colored before the 31st. With respect to the site, I cannot display her full body because she isn't wearing any clothes so I'll just show the top part. Hope you like it so far anyway because it's always fun to draw nude babes.

My friend thought that I should make a more traditional looking witch but hot supersedes warts, missing rotted teeth and bad skin... :D

Yeah, Mr. M...sorry about the %#$%tease there but I really like this place y'know?

Any further south and it soils the good name of a family-oriented website: there are no "in-the -gutter" people here :D . The slightest appearance of nipples have that sort of cause & effect. :)) Besides, it's not my intention to offend some females who might frequent on here.

This pinup will be inked and colored for sale in prints at the Boston Halloween festival that's held there every year. This sort of horror/witch thing is pretty big there for obvious reasons and my choices were minimized to either drawing a witch or Lizzie Borden.

Just my opinion but I don't think that Lizzie would take in the buff... :v

There once was an episode of Bewitched where Darren had to do an ad campaign involving witches. He had a similar dilemma to you and after Samantha took umbrage with his ugly witch designs she "convinced" him to think outside the box and draw attractive witches.

Well you do know that Bruce Timm's my boy. ;) I don't think that he gets enough credit for drawing very simplistic yet effectively alluring females. Thanks, man.

Here's another commission I had to draw for another GL fan. I don't think I've drawn this many Lantern/Sinestro pics in my lifetime but in the span of a couple of months, this is probably my twelth one so far. It must be the excitement of the upcoming movie. I don't know...

Here's a snapshot of it. I'll probably get this scanned for someone to color it and make it my wallpaper. One thing that I can say in all honesty... after The Joker I am now on TEAM SINESTRO! I doodled this one while watching FIRST FLIGHT last night. Great motivation. B-)

    GreenLantern.jpg

After the last con that I did in which a news team interviewed me with prominent comic pros, I've been fortunate enough to be swamped with commissions but no Marvel/DC wooing yet. ;%

Here's the early stages of a Supergirl another fan wants done. Of course I had to mature her just a little bit... :D

    0159_001.jpg

And of my own creation, the early stages of a Cevario/Franz con poster I want to have ready for print...hopefully soon. Hope you likes, thanks for looking.

Thanks, Mr. M & Pen. Just doing what I love. I guess it's natural to envy someone else's talents; hell, growing up, I've always envied guys that could sing really well. They appear to get all the women and I wanted that. I can't carry a half-note much less a whole one. :))

Nice Hal & Sin Rogue; though I must confess, I'm not wild about Sinestro's new haircut, it gives him a disturbing resemblance to Hitler (which may very well be what the artists who came up with that look were going for) but I really preferred the old swept-back hair. Glad they've resisted giving Hal a makeover.

I look forward to the day when DC signs you up to draw GL; I'm sure you'll give him a passing resemblance to an Italian American fan you might know ... ;)

Thanks for the comp, Tony. Yeah, I would love for DC to hire me since I've been a fanboy since wearing training pants and if it never happens then fine. I'll still love drawing stuff like this otherwise I would've outgrown it long ago. I don't think I ever want to outgrow comics.

I tried to send you and Spec a high rez, cropped version of this via email last night because I know you're hardcore GL but the file's so large that it kept bouncing back to me or just didn't want to go through so here it is in case you want to save it:

    GreenLantern-1.jpg

You know I'm 100% with you on the more classic incarnation of Sinestro but as you well know "the customer's right" adage applies here. This is what he wanted and he's paying. :))

I'm okay with his reimaged motif but the Hitler hair is abit much. It's not just enough nowadays that Sinestro already sports the silent movie villian "stache, comic creators love to give bad guys that Nazi symbolism whenever they can. I believe that the writer and/or artist were on the same page with this but I don't think that he needed it IMO.

Worked for Darth Vader though. ;)

    Enjoy the pic.

A few pages back, I posted a very foggy image of a page I was working on in my graphic novel and I decided to repost a much clearer image before it went off to my inker. Sorry for the cruddy previous version I posted...

    SHYLOCKpencilspage.jpg

The reason why I drew this scene this way was because I actually witnessed something like this in my younger days with a night out with the guys for a bachelor party we were having for a friend. This guy's wife/girlfriend was getting turned on by the dancer and just started making out with him. I thought it was pretty hot at the time. :D

Also, here's a comic strip I'm working on coincidently with another paesan named Tony D. that will soon be published in trade format. I couldn't post the vulgar language version though...
