I'm proud to say that my son has won his first art contest - nationwide art contest from some well known temp agency.

He, along with two other kid winners- one from NYC, will receive a gift card for 50 dollars from Toy-R-Us, certificate and a slew of the Christmas cards from all three winners. We were told that kids submitted from all 50 states but theirs' stood out the most.

I'm really proud since I told him that he was on his own with this project; it makes the feat more satisfying for him in the end.

Congrats, son! I didn't win my first until I was 12-13 years old. {[]

Way to go!!! Make sure to congratulate your boy on behalf of myself and SpectreIsland.

And me as well. Awesome! {[]

We received the Christmas cards yesterday; they could have given us more than 10... ?:)
Their of the wrap-around style and they put my son's on the front which I thought was flattering. They way that they are cut didn't get my kid's entire pic on it but it's ok.

Well out of the 200 + applicants (6-12yrs) that reportedly submitted, these were the top 3 winners. The other two being 7 & 8 years of age. My congrats to them all... {[]

    Hope you like.

Congratulations, Rogue! And Congratulations to your son. It certainly looks like he is a chip of the old block.

Keep up the good work both of you, I'm impressed. :)

Your son's is by far the best of the lot. The difference is staggering.

I was just about to say the same thing Night. Even at that age, he's already a better artist than I'll ever be.

Guys, you're great with the comps - thanks so much. ;%

I had no idea that the margin of talent was going to be that noticable. I figured that there were kids applying for this contest just as good as my kid if not better; it was when I was his age. That's not taking away from these talented children but y'know...

I even told him upon completion that he should just cast this from his mind; others were entering and the comp may be too stiff to get his hopes up...

I think that the toy card motivated him. :D

Here is the sketch I did for my supervisor now colored with Photoshop. This was done by a guy in Houston who does great work; if I'd known he wanted to doodle with it, I would've made it more detailed & intense. :))

Here's another stress-reliever page similiar to a Batman page I had done already on this thread.

Basically something for the portfolio that I worked on purely for escapism from the toils of the day...

Sometimes you just want to be left alone with your thoughts. I had a time lining this up through Photoshop... :D

    Very impressive, Rogue. :)

I particularly like the overhead view of the open door with the light casting Batman's shadow.

Nice stuff as usual Rogue. Im curious, do you have an actual person/model in mind when drawing characters like Bats or do you simply wing it?

Thanks, MNL. In comic sequentials it helps when the artist can break up the montony of panels with interesting camera views. In this page I felt it necessary to let the viewer assume the drama... ;)

A little of both, Tony. I have a certain way I want my characters to look when I stress realism and when I caricarturize them more then I go for something else.

I use alot of reference photos; one of my students has a crush on a guy who plays Batman at Six Flags here. ;)

This page is a mixture of reference and winging it you might say...

Believe it or not, alot of this page was winged. Thanks, buddy.

:)) No. Velcro boots...or something to that effect. Six Flags Batman had them on when I snapped the shot.

I had to create my own shadows...

I posted this page to a friend of mine in Ireland and he did a once over to see how it would look in color. Mind you he didn't really delve into it for obvious reasons but he was dying to find out how it would come out so I obliged him.

Sort of has that SKY CAPTAIN/TOMORROW feel to it...

Rogue...you might be interested to learn that I was recently going through Loeffelholz Jr's homework stuff...and found his notebook of sketches and doodles. Suffice it to say that his work does not yet rival the stuff seen on this thread---however, in the clear plastic pocket on the front of this three-ring binder, is nothing less than your 'Cracked'-style caricature of Daniel Craig (which I'd forgotten that I'd printed up for him, months ago!). It is one of his favourites...

He's had some schoolwork issues of late...but as soon as he's cleared them up, he wants to get online and share his appreciation of that particular work with you :007)

Wow. I'm truly flattered that whatever I create, anyone would hold it in such high regard, Loeff.

Tell your son from me that I said thank you - it really means alot. That's why I like what I do because if it makes people happy, what's better than that? Well...making copius amounts of cash in the process? :D

Get your son an account and get him on here...he may like OCTOPUSSY... :D

And I'm afraid he shares my opinion about late-era Roger Moore...though he does like it more than AVTAK... :v

Doing t-shirt designs as a promotion for my 3rd issue I'm currently working on; I'm doing most of the writing and artwork pressing to get something out by this summer and then a follow-up by fall.

Here's my creation from years ago- the hitman Franz. These are in the early stages because they will be in color. Think you'd sport this on your chest? It's really just a quick scan...

Here's something my Marvel fanboy son conjured up off of something. For those who don't know, it's BlackBolt from the Inhumans. I am really impressed with the discipline he's developing as he goes along.

Nice work as usual courtesy of Rogue Sr. and Jr.

Don't know if I'd go around with a Franz T-shirt; but that's because I'm more of a conservative dresser - shirt, sweater, slacks and shoes ( I don't even own a pair of jeans ;% ).
