An Apology from BBC Radio 2 Steve Wright

<<On 7th September we broadcast an interview with composer John Barry who said that he had written the James Bond theme tune for Dr No, not Monty Norman who was credited on the film.

There's been a dispute between Mr Barry and Mr Norman about who wrote the tune. In 2001 after hearing evidence on both sides a court found that Mr Barry's claim was not justified.

So we'd like to apologise to Mr Norman for having included the claim in our programme.>>

I heard the interview at the original time of broadcast and I though John's comment on the James Bond Theme quite crafty. He's obviously convinced he wrote it. Didn't hear the apology though.

There has never been a case Norman vs Barry.

Norman sued the Sunday Times for his reputation being damaged by an article stating that Barry wrote the James Bond Theme.

John Barry was only involved as a witness by the defense of the newspaper.
