In Marvel's defense, it does appear that Machine Man is the only doing any damage.

    >edit<

I retract that statement...it appears that Henry Pym is getting a haymaker in the background, but I can't say from whom. And the Falcon is getting his head handed to him, too!

I really must examine Wonderwoman vs. the She Hulk closer :D

I thought his name was Hank Pym? Not that I can see him anywhere. care to point him out?

This may surprise you, RA, but--Spidey fan that I am--I've always been more of a DC guy. In looking at that poster, I pretty well know who all the DC characters are, but half of the Marvel group has me saying, Who is THAT? Hank Pym? Huh? And are those Doc Ock's arms I see? ?:)

'Hank' is one of those wierd nicknames for 'Henry' that I never could figure out -- like 'Chuck' for Charles and 'Dick' for Richard. Anyway - It looks like one of his incarnations of Giant-Man in the background (being picked on by someone not quite his size).

And Hardyboy - I think those are Machine Man's legs you're seeing (grabbing Hawkeye in some scissors moves - don't ask me why.)

I apologize for going off topic. But I rather like this one too.

Wolverine and Lobo, WW and Storm. Good stuff my friends.

It is somewhat of a surprise, H.B.

So you were in the fold already? Cool. My apologies; I don't know why I thought you had a strong Marvel vibe - not as elitist as my son but...oh. well. ;)

The only battle in Alex's first poster worth paying attention to as a "REAL FIGHT" is Hercules vs. Big Barda.

The others are pretty much shoe-ins either way they tip; I mean Iron Man against Green Lantern? Thor vs. Superman? Give me a break... 8-)

Nice artwork Alex; too bad it was from that that godawful Marvel vs. DC crossover where the fans voted on the outcome of the fights. Wolverine beats Lobo? Thor beats Shazam?? Storm beats Wonder Woman??? It ended up being a popularity contests. Ugh and double ugh. Talk about a low point in popular culture.

I stopped collecting comics in the early 90s when every other issue was a "#1 Special Collecters Edition!" (with two gold plated covers!) so I wasn't aware this was from a vote in. (Ugh!)

Could someone please tell me who Spidey's battling? I've never seen him before.

PS. Two things, Tony, Logan defeating Lobo and the Norse god of thunder beating Shazam is as it should be my friend :D {:)

But Wonder Woman is Numba One :)

I have two issues of that Marvel vs. DC crossover. I thought it was mildly interesting but I've never bothered to complete the set. Aquaman beat The Sub-Mariner in one issue I have, and I think the fight between Thor and Captain Marvel was another. The Hulk was supposed to fight Superman if I remember. I didn't know the fans voted on the outcome.

That would be Superboy; or rather a Superboy who was actually a clone Superman until it was revealed he was actually a clone of someone else; his powers involved tactile telekenisis, which should mean he could levitate things but in actuality he could destroy things :s Mercifully, he was recently killed off during the Infinite Crisis crossover. But he might still be alive. :s :s

I was never a big fan of any of those four so if it makes you happy, that's fine by me. But I still don't know how a 5'2" feral mutant who is always getting knocked out could best an indestructible being who can go toe to to with Superman.
But Wonder Woman is Numba One :)

Lynda Carter or Halle Berry ... tough call, really tough call.

As a guy who never really got into Shazam, I wasn't aware Captain Marvel had the same invincible capabilities as Supes! My bad.

But as for Halle/Lynda, those are the decisions dreams are made of :x

Actually, the idestructible being who went toe to toe with Superman that I was referring to was Lobo, but you're right that it would apply to Shazam as well. Whoops, I'm lapsing into fanboyism again.

I admit I'm somewhat of a Marvel guy, but there are numerous DC characters I greatly admire as well.

When's Iron Man again, May '08? I'll be there.

Early 90's sounds about right; this is the one where the fans voted on the results of certain confrontations and the artists drew the panels accordingly. It also led to those terrible Amalgamated comics were the Marvel and DC universes where merged and the characters were hybrids (ie: Iron Man + Green Lantern = Iron Lantern).

Here's a wikipedia page with all the sordid details:

World Exclusive: New Iron Man Image!
Slamming his way onto Empire's cover

    21022.jpg

When the first shot of Iron Man’s shimmering Mk. III suit appeared online earlier this year, the sound of jaws dropping resonated across the web. Astounded by the imposing red and gold figure towering before them, coos of “it’s so pretty”, “coooooollll” and “Iron Man is going to kick some major ass” meant that everyone’s excitement levels for Tony Stark’s big screen debut were upped by about three billion percent. But as Empire can now reveal, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Yes, the lovely folks at ILM, having already conjured up a killer Optimus Prime image for our February cover, have been hard at work once again and have provided us with a world exclusive new shot of Ol’Shellhead in action. Pretty darn cool, I’m sure you’ll agree. Of course, it wouldn’t be fair to leave the billionaire Weapons Expert up there all on his own, so we’ve brought The Dark Knight and Indiana Jones along for the ride. All three giants of the screen lead the way in our massive Heroes Of 2008 preview that takes a first look at some of next year’s biggest movie behemoths, including The Incredible Hulk, Hellboy 2, Speed Racer and Wall-E.

Nice, although from that angle it looks a bit like Shellhead has a receding hairline; maybe the red part should have come forward a bit more.

The other articles sound interesting too:
The Misunderstood Genius of Brett Rattner - Looks like other people are coming around to my way of thinking.

    Jessica Biel talks dirty :o

:)) You're thinking in 70s mode, my friend but I see what you mean. I think that this design is derived from the Ultimate universe IM. Hopefully this won't be too much of a distraction as was Batman's cowl was to me in Begins. :#

Aren't there two other versions he will don within this film?

I'm sure the armor will look fine in the movie - it seems to me to be a synthesis of pieces from various eras; and I have read that there will be three versions in total throughout the film.

Interesting that IM got the lion's share of the space on the cover of Empire; I've been fearful that there wasn't enough of a buzz for this movie but coverage like this makes me hopeful that I'm wrong.

Maybe it's just me but I am hoping that THE INCREDIBLE HULK will get some type of buzz going with pics or footage some time real soon. I was never worried that the shellhead wouldn't get adequate press...

I loved HULK the movie but on a whole, it appears viewers might be a tad jaded to get pumped up for the current attempt.

Just saw an interview with John Favreau on G4; he put together a trailer especially for Comic Con and from the sound of things, the fanboys went absolutely wild over it. It's supposed to be a Comic Con exclusive but will hopefully appear online before too long.

I read somewhere last night where it was all a ruse because it was reported that Favreau showed clips of the old 60s Iron Man cartoon to PUNK'D the audience. They all laughed of course.

Not sure what report at this time is accurate; I just hate I'm not there...

I like it; very slick and sporty while not the usual Ferrari or Lamborghini that most playboy billionaires drive.

BTW, I'm pretty sure the IM trailer was legit as somebody over at AICN corroborated it. Hopefully, it will pop up online at some point.
