A Horse For Us To Cheer For

I'm not a huge horse-racing fan, but this weekend is the Breeders Cup in the US. It's seven races over the course of a day, with a mix of distances, surfaces, age restrictions and gender restrictions -- the biggest racing day in the US, aside from the three Triple Crown races.

The fifth race is the Filly & Mare Turf. Currently, the second favorite at 4-1 is the beautifully named Honey Ryder.

She couldn't possibly lose, could she?

    First, let me just say that the word root means something differently in Australia than it does in the US. :D

    However in answer to your question, no, she can't lose. -{

    Hey Mods, can you change my topic title from "Root" to "Cheer"?

    If this horse, Honey Ryder is ridden by the apt Jenny Flex then I will tape it and go meet the horse AND the jockey.

    I think you would be in a minority. ;) Yes, it also means cheer, but I wouldn't use it in that context at your local pub. :D

    Honey Ryder finished a close and game third. So if you bet her to show, you made a little money.
