CR Soundtracks

That's right - soundtracks.

On looking through Amazon for a Casino Royale or Bond 2007 calendar, I found this...

Casino Royale (Soundtrack) - Release 13th Nov with 18 tracks, starting with Licence (2 Kills)

Bizarrely enough, it's in a "Buy together" deal with this...

Casino Royale (Soundtrack) (Import) - Release 14th Nov and with the track listing we're all now familiar with.

They both have different covers - one the international artwork, the "import" with the US artwork.

My question, therefore, is: WHAT THE...?!?!?!

It is very strange, I think Amazon has made quite a ****-up by listing two differing albums.

David Arnold said in an interview that Sony are planning to make the cues which aren't included on the album (eg. Licence 2 kills) avalible via iTunes download, so for those who want the complete score, the opportunity is there

I initially thought **** up too, but they both have different covers - the international artwork on the "unimported" version has Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Music by David Arnold on it.

And having pre-ordered it from Play.com, I've just checked their website, and they're listing the same "international artwork" version that Amazon are...yet when I placed my order, it was the US artwork that was displayed as the cover...

HMV and CD Wow! are both listing the 18-track version also...

If you read the Cats Article on the CR soundtrack you will learn all about it!

Ok a hint it's under The Soundtrack, and part of the third paragraph. Basically it's a mistake.

Ah, I knew I read about it somewhere, but couldn't remember whether the story was conclusive or not (which also explains why it didn't come up in the AJB Google search). Thanks!

Track listing question cleared up, and I can sleep soundly knowing I'm getting the same bang for my buck as everyone else, what about the covers? Used to be that they defaulted to the US artwork, I assume there's two versions for the first time, or is that part of the confusion too?

No idea on the covers, and I'm not sure Cat knows either as the promo copies didn't have covers apparently.

I would of thought the two covers are correct to tie in with the posters. Although I think the 'International' one is nicer as a poster but the US one makes a good CD case. At the end of the day we probably just have to wait and see!

Well, my soundtrack arrived in this morning's post courtesy of Play.com (well, courtesy of Royal Mail, actually, but you know what I mean!)

All 25 tracks, international artwork cover, silver/black gunbarrel CD and very little in the sleeve notes though tastefully done with a few small stills here and there.

It's most definitely Arnold's best to date, in my opinion. Lush and exotic in all the right places, while keeping the action scenes set to a tense (and loud) pace.

Only real disappointment of the score? The last track The Names Bond...James Bond. It's, well, a little empty sounding - a little hollow. I was all up for a full-on, powerful blast, but there's just something lacking.

Just downloaded the CR soundtrack from iTunes and it is sooooo nice. I really like African Rundown...it is superb. I separately downloaded You Know My Name.....really should have been on the Soundtrack. :007)

Likely the answer is somewhere in the CR forum, but why isn't the Cornell song on the soundtrack album? Clearly Arnold sampled it quite alot so it can't be some kind of rights issue.

Also, anyone with a suggestion on where to buy the vocal version? I downloaded one, but I'd llke to find a commercial release with a jewel case, etc.

When i watched Casino Royale I loved the opening scene of the film with the song You Know My Name played by:

    Chris Cornell

Welcome to ajb Mekuria. It is a fabulous song. :x Just the right amount of wickedness to match the movie.

I am not sure why the title song didn't make it on the soundtrack, but I am sure one of the experts on the board will be by with a answer. ;)

Cornell belongs to a different Sony label, that's all there is to it.

Cornell has also added (he spoke on BBC News) that the omission of his song from the soundtrack was his idea as he wants it on his own album.

Okay ... but we've had decades of "cross-pollenation" between UA, EMI, A&M ... why should we suddenly have to keep the players separate particularly when they're within the same corporation? Just a ploy to sell more CDs. I suppose this means every compilation of Bond themes for here on out will be minus CR?

It's listed as for release on 11th December. Don't get too excited mind - it only has two tracks on the cd - "You Know My Name" and "Black Hole Sun" X-(
