Even dear old Marks and Spencer are getting in on the Bond action with their Christmas ad this year with a Bond theme and a Bond singer!

If anything, it proves that Dame Shirley can still belt out a song and I personally think she would have done a better job than Chris Cornell, but thats another thread ...

If you want to see the ad ....

(Though I'm sure us here in the UK will be pretty sick of it soon when its played about a 1000 times :)) )

I don't often use this term - in fact I think I'm going to use it for the first time - sweeeeeet! :D

Like it, like it a lot! No doubt it will be on tonight during My Life With James Bond.

(Now, maybe a Bond villain type can dispatch that damn voice over woman cooing and aaahing at "not just food, M&S food" :)) )

Works for me. Hearing Shirley Bassey reminds me of how inadequate every Bond theme song has been and probably will be since her "Goldfinger," to my ears anyway. If Bond has a "sound," it's her voice. Never mind Moneypenny and Q -- bring back Shirley.

Is that a Girls Aloud sond she's singing?

Good, but it's all DAD imagery - all it was fit for, an advert!!

Although her Moonraker is still one of my favourites ...

Mention of the M&S catchphrase reminds me of a business report a couple of weeks back on the BBC. The reporter started the piece:

"These are not just profits figures, these are M&S profit figures" :D

    'Tis Pink.

Wouldn't have been cheeky chappy Declan Currie who made that remark, Pred? It's got his buddum-tish humour all over it!

'The retailer insists it is not cashing in on Casino Royale, the new James Bond film. "We are tapping into the whole retro vibe," explained M&S's marketing director, Steven Sharp'

    What complete Bollox !
What retro vibe is he talking about. Oh yeah, Ice Palaces, so 2002.

With ski-doos and the works! :D

I suppose DAD was chosen as the basis of the ad, in the main, because of it's winter (ergo Christmas) connotations. I also like the small, but probably unnoticed detail of the silver Rolls-Royce, a la A View To A Kill.

Just caught the ad (during the TV show "James Bond For Real")- it's a hoot! Pure class from Dame Shirley, as ever.

Much as I love this ad: what exactly has crawled up Erin O'Conner's arse and died? The woman has a look of sanctimonious disdain throughout the whole advert, even when she's supposedly being appreciative of The Bass' performance.

And poor Noemie Lenoir. Apparently, even in an Ice Palace, she is contractually required to roll around in her undies.

I am one of the few who seem to like Chris Cornell's title song. Regardless, I certainly would be pleased if Dame Shirley was invited back. She still has a great singing voice.

Yes, I noticed that bit!! It's very hard not to notice Noemie Lenoir in her undies; whether she be splashed across a full colour spread in a magazine or beaming down over a city centre from a giant hoarding... Aaah :D

She's probably reeling from losing out to Kate Moss for Model Of the Year at the British Fashion Awards.

But she remains totally gorgeous. She is stunning.
