Subtitles in The Living Daylights

I was watching the Ultimate Edition of The Living Daylights recently and noticed that during the scene where the female Russian (?) pipeline worker is zipping up her outfit and telling the security guy, "what kind of girl do you think I am?" that the subtitles did not pop up. On my VHS copy of The Living Daylights, the subtitles are shown. Is it supposed to be like this? If so, I don't see why I would have to turn the subtitle feature of the DVD on just to see that one line.

    I just put in my copy of TLD and the subtitle showed up. I even made sure in the Language Decryption (from the dvd menu) had the subtitles off. I'm not sure what to say. Maybe your dvd has a feature that blocks subtitles in movies? Keep us updated.

    My copy of TLD Ultimate Edition also plays that scene with no subtitles, whereas my Special Edition of the film does show the subtitles.

    My widescreen VHS copies had subtitles but none of my DVDs show them. I remember distinctly that there were translations in the TLD scene, in FRWL where Tatiana is bidding farewell to her friends at the consulate, and also where the Indian mystic yells "get out of my bed!" in OP.

    I would like to know if there was some feature on the DVD that 'turns off' the subtitles because you miss out on some of the humor.

    My Ultimate Edition of FRWL did not have any subtitles in it either! I also just finished watching You Only Live Twice (UE) and it did not have any subtitles in it. However, it has been a long time since I have watched my VHS copy, so I don't remember if there were any subtitles in YOLT or not.

    The VHS sometimes had added in subtitles. The UEs have the original subs that were present theatrically. You just have to make sure that the dvd ones are off and the your player doesn't try to interfere. If only we could get the Huttese dialogue back in hard subs for Star Wars...
