James Bond's IWB Holster

Anyone know what brand in the waist band holster James was wearing in Casino Royale?

Couldn't tell, but I like Kramer IWB's myself. They're nice and flat. I've got one for my P99, and it's great.

Which Kramer did you go w/ for your P99?

There isn't a specific model. If you go to their website--www.kramerleather.com--you put in the make and model of the handgun you have and they tool the holster around those specs.

IMHO, Kramer makes the best off-duty holsters I've ever used.

I'm wrong...the model I have is the "Inside the waistband clip cowhide"

My son uses the original Miami Vice rig, from the Jackass Leather Co., now known as Galco. CHeck it out via Google search for Galco, and whatever weapon you carry. Great look to it.

Thanks for the link, mate. It seems to be a slightly different color than the holster used in the film. I've just sent them an email asking about the color difference, and if they are selling them in that color. I'll let you know if they respond.

Edit: hmm, apparently the email didn't go through. I'll try again.

I just ordered one of their holsters for my P99, in black. Thanks for finding that as I was wondering as well!

Where did you order it from?
  • NightshooterNightshooter In bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
I couldn't get through to Vega through email, but I just went and bought from an online store. Only $14 plus shipping, too.

Funnily enough I did as well.

Oh, I just went to that site again to check my order and they don't have this holster listed anymore so apparently we purchased the last few in stock.

Interestingly enough, I cannot seem to find any other sites selling them either. It would seem they aren't that common. If I find another site, I will let you all now.

EDIT: Alright, for those who are interested, this site has some in stock. I have ordered from them in the past and they are pretty good and if I recall correctly, they have 2 day shipping availible and tracking. Below is the exact item link. The style for the P99 is IWB 339.

Amazing what Bond fans go through to get this stuff. I already had a holster for my P99 but once I saw it identified here I had to get this. :007)

I just realized something. Craig didn't carry his P99 (Or a shoulder holster for that matter) for most of the film. He left it in his car or hotel room.

Craig was never seen with a shoulder holster, or pulling his P99 from one. We only saw his vega, or pulling the P99 from the envelope. I'm pretty sure there was no shoulder holster.

The only possible scene where Craig as Bond could have used a shoulder holster was after his second kill in the pre-credit sequence. Bond tucks the silenced P99 in side his coat in the area under his left arm. With the silencer however, it seems more like an inside pocket. But who knows.

In other news, I received 3 Vega IB3 holsters today. One for a P99 and the others for two other guns that I own. The IB3 sort of reminds one of the famous chamois holster that Bond carries in the novels and in the early Connery movies. Perhaps that's what the producers were after.

Yeah, I know he didn't use a shoulder holster. WHat I was saying was he didn't carry his P99 for a good part of the film and didn't have a shoulder holster.

New poster here, I have read all the Fleming novels, a few of the Gardners, have seen all the Bond films of course, and saw the latest film last weekend.

Craig didn't use a shoulder holster that I could see, although that was Fleming's Bond's favored carry method in the novels. But in the novels Bond carried a .25 caliber Beretta (probably model 418) early on, and of course the Walther PPK later. Both of these are considerably thinner and less bulky than the P99.

I won't argue against the Walther P99 being an excellent weapon, I just can't see Bond carrying such a thick gun for deep-concealment purposes, certainly not when there are more concealable guns available from Kahr, Rarborough, Keltec and others, in the smae 9x19 caliber. After all, Bond is supposed to totally conceal his gun. This is even more important in today's world than it was in the 50's and 60's when Fleming was writing.

As far as IWB holsters go, my personal favorite is the Bianchi Model 6, a simple single-ply cowhide holster with a metal clip. It's very thin, and so has almost no stiffness or rigidity of its own, but on the plus side adds little bulk to the gun. Also being single-ply leather it's easy, with the use of a basic leather-sewing kit, to modify it to fit any particular weapon perfectly. I have two examples that were labelled as being designed for the Walther PPK. I modified one to fit a Colt Government .380, and another to fit my FEG SMC-918, which is a high-quality Hungarian-made gun designed closely after the Walther PPK, but chambered for the former Eastern Bloc-standard 9 x 18 mm Makarov round, and with a superior firing pin safety system to the Walther.
