Yep...but did mine a couple of months ago. I stayed away from any boards and plugged my ears and closed my eyes when the promos started to show on TV. I wanted to be fairly Bond-free when I went to the showing...and it was all worth it cause the impact was great. I am ready to go see it again.....and can hardly wait till the DVD comes out. I will watch it till my eyes fall out of my head.

I am ever so tempted to buy the re-release DVDs. :D

i saw the dvd's at FYE they were 50 dollers on sale. Then again FYE is always the most expensive place to buy them.

Hmmmm....they are pre-order on FYE. Is the third and fourth edition all of the movies up to the new CR?

I had my own personal marathon, but I spread it over two months. I watched all 20 films (Ultimate Edition) starting in mid-September and finished them just in time for Casino Royale's debut.

Hello! As soon as I came home from the movie theater, I tried to watch some of the old films (and when I say "old" I mean from Dr. No to DAD). And I am wondering if anyone else here felt the same way that I did. I was so blown away by Casino Royale that the old films, even the Connerys, are doing nothing for me anymore. Even Goldfinger is paling in comparison with Casino Royale. I am a huge Bond fan, but Casino Royale made me return not to the old films but to the original books. Did anyone else have the same reaction?

Well I figured watching the old ones now would pale in comparison. I am holding off for a while, then will watch one every once in a while. There comes a time when you can overdose on a good thing, and we need to avoid that. I suggest tucking the oldies-but-goodies away for a rainy day...you will appreciate them more.

I may wait until the CR DVD is released....then watch that one non-stop until I can visualize all the scenes in my virtual mind. Then I think it will be time to watch one of my old favorites. You really need to put these films in context to their entertainment value and the technology of their day. I think the younger Bond fans have a very hard time wrapping their mind around the early ones because they do seem flat, slow and lack-luster in comparison to the films of the recent past. It is important that your passion about the films circles around the nostaligia in your life. So if you grew up on the early versions, like I did, they were just so out-there that the impact was very avant garde and was rarely reproduced in other films or characters. I think CR has the same impact on some fans...finally they get the jolt they are looking for. The difference between the Bond character and all the super-hero films of the past is that Bond is a real man. He can be hurt and he can, in turn, be hurtful. Everything in the films revolve around his rise and fall. I think that is very apparent in Dr. No and Goldfinger. Now CR can wow the crowds like those films did when they were in their premieres at the box office.

My marathon was watching all 10 of the movies in the first 2 Ultimate Edition box sets the weekend prior to CR opening. I must say, the picture quality in these sets is absolutely stunning, especially on the Connery & Moore films. The 5.1 channel DTS soundtrack is much better on the newer films vs the older ones which is to be expected (personally, Dolby Digital 5.1 is fine by me). I picked up the both sets in the US at Best Buy the day they were released for $49.99 each.
