MOONRAKER Studio Scale Replica

PHArchivist is an artist....to call him anything else would be an insult. Some people are modeller's or hobbyist but when I received my Moonraker shuttle from him this week I could only put him in the category of one of the great scale artists on this board. Although the below pictures should speak volumes I will tell you that this man KNEW quite well he was building this for a Bond fanatic and took great pains to make the finished piece as close to the movie original as possible. It shows! Every smoke swirl, every carbon scoring, every line and nuance is there. I am displaying it amongst the Moonraker pieces I have in my collection but observers have remarked already that it stands out quite profoundly on the wall and looking as if it has been launched through the poster work. It is exactly at eye level so all can marvel at the detail and passion that went into this piece. All I can say is thank you, Rob. thank you for putting the time and effort into making a piece that any Bond fan would feel proud to display and own. It was worth the time it took to create and finish this...

    That's incredible, Mantis, another coup!

That looks like a lovely model. Is it a replica of the models from the film i.e. the same scale as those they used?

(You've got to find another display bracket, though- that's hideous!)

Fabulous model Mantis. Excellent detail. Must have cost you a bundle. Emtiem is right though. The bracket is downright ugly and detracts from all the great work that went into making it. Also, you need to display it with a Moonraker themed background. The mix of Octopussy poster and Moonraker items don't go together. :007)

Awesome model you got there Mantis, the detail work is really amazing. Just one question though: are the model's nose and underbelly black or brown? I remember reading an interview with the late Derek Meddings in which he said that he had the bottoms of the Moonrakers painted brown so that they could be better seen on-screen when they were in space. I'm pretty sure I have a photo of Meddings surrounded by the Moonraker and other models around here somewhere.

It was brown on the Studio models (for filming) IIRC but for a display model, black/near black makes more sense.
