Thankyou, but I just want the music from the film, the version that was released was not the same as in the film and I preferred the film version.

I know what you mean - the film version has some better orchestration in it e.g. the horns. I've also been looking for the film version, is it on the single, or is the single the version I already have...?

Arnold's previous Bond songs, Surrender and TWINE are also mixed slightly differently for the films, but certainly YKMN is the one with the most marked differences.

I guess we'll just have to wait for the DVD release as it's also heard in the end credits. Obviously, the end credits version is longer than the opening titles edit but meh...that's good!

I'm sorry but ajb007.co.uk will not be used to distribute illegal music files. I have removed the url from above and ask that the Private Messages on the site about the file(s) cease.

Discussion about whether the track is available (as this topic was started with) is fine, but everyone knows that music distribution on the net is a very touchy subject.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Now that I have the film, I find that version quite lacklustre compared to the 'pop' release.
I expected there to be more emphasis on the orchestration, but it seems to be mixed even quieter!
    ...one hundred caratsh rough!

No, I do not think so. The film versions of "You Know My Name" over the Main Title and End Credits sound more like Bond songs should sound with more emphasis on the orchestra.
I think all (Main Title) Bond songs have an orchestra or classical instruments playing.

The opening credits version IS longer and also some of the words change (like he says, "I've seen THIS diamond cut through harder men" in the regular version he says, "I've seen diamonds cut through harder men") and also the vocal improv at the end of the song is longer in the opening credits as well. As far as the instrumentals, they both sound the same to me, and I've danced the song many times and seen the movie over 20 times, (its my favorite opening Bond sequence).

Cornell's new solo album has the faster, THIS version of "You Know My Name" as its last track. Simply AWESOME!

Oh the film version of the song just made the movie start off on the wrong foot for me, as well as the title sequence.

Whoever mixed it for the film should be severely punished, as the "pop mix" is a much better listen and a much more enjoyable song.
  • BarryFanBarryFan U.S.Posts: 13MI6 Agent
It's not just the mix, orchestration etc. The film version is a completely different "take" from the single. Just listen to Cornell's vocals- they're 2 different performances. Similar to the film / single versions of Nobody Does It Better- 2 different performances. Both great, just different.
