My Name is Earl

This is television at its funniest. I have the First Season DVD, which I'm currently going through right now, and it's a corker.

Jason Lee is most entertaining as the star and narrator, but the supporting cast is good as well.

Does anyone else watch this hilarious show?

I didn't realize this was on in Oz. I love the show myself--it has a great concept (how many sitcoms deal with karma?) and, as you say, a wonderful supporting cast. By far, my favorite character is Jamie Pressley's Joy--the embodiment of everything that is White Trash America. Crabman's a hoot, too. Just love it.

    Great show!

I borrowed the dvd off my brother, it's the funniest thing in a good while!

My fave character, Earl aside, is his brother. The scene with the tear gas in one of the later episodes is bloody hilarious!!

Actually I'd have had Jason Lee as Felix Leiter, he's got that humourous edge but wouldn't distract from Bond, being a bit dopey, a bit Judge Reinhold. Isn't he Southern as well?

Well, from southern California. Jason Lee was actually one of the first people to become a professional skateboarder--he dropped out of high school to make his fortune; but, like a typical teenager, he didn't know what to do with the money and blew it all. That led to acting, and to Kevin Smith movies, and to the Earl we all know and love.

Not necessarily--Lee sort-of does a southern accent in the show. In an interview he said that no one is really sure where Camden County is supposed to be--everyone sounds like they're in the south, but things pretty much look like California! By the way, Jamie Pressley is from North Carolina, and she's said that her accent for Joy is a mixture of about three different southern accents.

wasn't really interested when I saw it being trailed on Channel4.
One night having come back and crashed on the sofa and just to lazy to look for the remote or get up to change channels I watch an episode and was totally hooked from there on.
Such a brilliant concept and JLee rocks - as does everybody else

The show is great - just a pity its on so late over here in the UK. I'm sure they'd get better viewing figures too, if it was shown at a regular time - it's always being shunted about the Friday night schedule :(
